We went before A Strange Loop, it's maybe a ten minute walk to the Lyceum Theater. We sat outside on the tented patio. We had a couple vegans with us and they were thrilled with the cuisine. We started with the Dip Trio and the Fried Artichokes. I tried the seafood cake and liked it. Good for pre theater if you are on the east side of Broadway, or good for a pre train ride dinner out of Grand Central.
Be the first to ReplyVery good cuisine.
Pera offers a very good Turkish-ish dining experience. We had the mezze platter, salad, lamb and chicken with Turkish wine. Everything we had was tasty and portions were ample. Despite being a very very busy evening, service was friendly and efficient.
Be the first to ReplyAverage experience at best.
Ambience was poor on the Saturday night we visited, almost empty. Food was average and reasonably priced. Staff attentive but almost over zealous, trying to take plates away when not yet finished. Would not rush back.

This is an excellent Turkish restaurant in Midtown. The food is excellent: I had the vegetable timbale and the dip trio, and both were quite good. Service was friendly.
Be the first to ReplyGood proximity to The Summit
Another Trip Advisor find having just been to the The Summit and needed something quick before heading to the airport. Great service, very good food too.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Turkish Restaurant
I really like this restaurant. My dinner was outstanding-I particularly recommend the vegetable timbale and the chocolate soufflé. Service was friendly and attentive.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food. Nice Place
We found ourselves at Pera because of a rain storm, but it was a lucky find. Nice place. Great atmosphere and very good food. The Chicken "Shashlik" was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyLovely, mellow Mediterranean restaurant
I've eaten at this lovely restaurant a couple of times with family and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. We generally order a few things and share, which is the best way to go because everything is so good that we want to try everything. Their grape leaves, grilled artichokes, and phyllo rolls are all great, as is their lamb Adana and their gnocchi. Prompt, friendly waitstaff and a mellow ambiance. This restaurant is conveniently located near Grand Central Station, which is handy for people coming into the city.
Be the first to ReplyAnother Lovely Dinner at Pera
It’s been ages since I’ve been to Pera. I walk past it twice a day several time a week and think fondly of the lovely lunches and dinners I’ve had there over the years. Last evening’s dinner falls right into place in that catalog of fond memories.
We lingered over our aperitifs, looking at the menu and catching up. Our waiter was handsome and pleasant. The restaurant was not crowded or noisy. It gets no better than that. For her first course, my friend ordered the Mediterranean Salad; cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and Kalamata olives, beautifully presented, with a large block of creamy sheeps’ milk feta cheese on top. I ordered the watermelon feta salad, here served with a basil dressing. Squares of watermelon and feta are arranged in a geometric shape, the bright green dressing complementing the red and white of the salad. It was as pleasing to the eye as it was to the palate.
For her main course, my friend chose the lamb chops; 5 little lamb chops, perfectly cooked, and served with roasted fingerling potatoes and bright red piquillo peppers. She shared a lamb chop with me; it was divine. And I shared my Signature Lamb Adana with her, a wonderful combination of ground lamb and spices. The sides of bulgur pilaf and pickled vegetables were nice, but the tasty lamb was my main focus and I finished it. We lingered for nearly two hours; another lovely dinner at Pera to contemplate the next time I walk past.
Gem near Grand Central
My sister and I had dinner here after spending a full day in the city. We were looking for a restaurant before heading home by train from Grand Central. We attended a Broadway matinee and made our way to Pera, which was a relatively short walk. It’s located on Madison between 41 & 42 streets, so if you’re coming from 5th, be sure to walk down 41st, known as Library Way, and enjoy the quotes on the sidewalk plaques.
The restaurant is average size, the service was wonderful, and the food was excellent. We each had different options on the Sunday Supper menu, which was a good value. For the appetizer, the trio of dips, yogurt, hummus, and eggplant was better than the salad, which was a little heavy on the cucumbers for my taste. The salmon served on a bed of greens, beluga lentils, and quinoa was superb. The lamb chops were very tender and cooked just the way I ordered them. The baklava bites for dessert were just enough after a large meal.
My only complaints were that there was no toilet tissue in the ladies room when we arrived, which was quickly rectified, and the restaurant was dark. I had to bring the menu to the bar area to read it, as there was not a light over our table. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant, located a few steps from Grand Central.
So so good
I’ve been to the other pera in SoHo which is also excellent.
We started with a host of appetizers including wonderful hummus and shepherds salad. Everything was fresh and delectable.
The entrees my guests and I had looked wonderful. I had chicken brochettes with green beans, all of which melted in my mouth.
It’s a bit noisy but if you happen to be in NYC for a Broadway show it is only a 15 minute walk. And worth it.
Great Lunch Meal - Love The Grilled Veg. Timbale
Sept 2019, came here for a business lunch and I thought my lunch was delicious. I am not a fan of Mediterranean Food, and I had no choice where we were going to eat, but I am happy we came here. The interior was warm and inviting with plenty of seating. We started with the Mediterranean Dip Trio, then I ordered the Grilled Vegetable Timbale, that was delicious. As far as ordering Dessert, we all skipped that because we were all too full, maybe next time. All and all, I would come back here and order the same meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat price, great food!
We all know that good food is not cheap in NYC -- actually, even food that is not good is not cheap in NYC. This place has amazing food, and, if you go for happy hour 4-7pm, it has great prices too. You can get one drink (alcoholic) and two small appetizers for $18. The selection is great and it was enough food to pass as our dinner. Drink refills were only $9. This place is just across the street from Grand Central so a great place to stop before your train home. I ordered the coffee and it was some of the best I've had. They leave a whole fresh brewed pot at your table and it is so very smooth that you can tell it is excellent quality. i am definitely adding this to my list of favorite stops in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyLively Ambiance and Amazing Food
I met a girlfriend here for dinner as she had been here several times. What a great evening! The venue was very busy but the service was good and the noise level was not a problem. We shared the meze platter and Mediterranean fries. Both were amazing and plenty for both of us. The price for what we ordered was very reasonable too. This place is a real gem that I would visit again in a heartbeat.
Be the first to ReplyA new find
My wife recommended Pera for an after theater dinner. This was also during restaurant week but that was an afterthought. Although I generally do not care for Turkish/Greek food, I was simply amazed at how wonderful Pera was. The restaurant week menu had all of my choices from the regular menu and that was an additional plus. The manager who greeted us and selected a wonderful private location, the waitress and the server were all consumate professionals and their care was only outdone by the fabulous cuisine.
