After a networking event at Whitney Peak, my wife and I decided on checking out Pearl Oyster Bar & Grill located in the Silver Legacy (a great spot on the bridge between the Silver Legacy and Eldorado, perfect for dining and people watching...always a treat at casinos!). Being a member of the Prospector's, we hadn't spent our quarterly $90 yet and it's already mid-December. It was a Tuesday night around 7:45 and the place was empty (an off night, I imagine). So, no wait with prompt, friendly and attentive service. Being fans of clam chowder and missing the awesome bowl served by the now closed Sterlings, we opted for a cup each. It came out quickly and were surprised by the large cup, a meal in itself. Hot, creamy, stocked with clams and potatoes, it just need a dash of pepper. Satisfying!Next up, I ordered a half dozen oysters. Not sure what other yelpers received, but the oysters were large, fresh and hit the spot with the supplied horseradish and cocktail sauce (see photo). A decent deal considering the portion at $14.For our mains, my wife ordered the shrimp scampi and I the cioppino. Though I didn't taste it, my wife said the shrimp on the bed of yellow rice as tender and well flavored. The cioppino was served hot and chock full of seafood. The tomato broth was tangy and perfect for dipping the accompanying bread. The bill for the meal including a glass of wine and a martini was just over $90, a lot of delicious food for the money. We're fans and will be back on another night out.The only odd thing was that we were the last ones served, as they closed right after we were seated, at only 8pm, in a casino??? I guess not being a busy night, why keep the place open (to the chagrin of other diners who were turned away). A, the restaurant business!
