Otium Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
I recently visited this place and was impressed! Ample
I recently visited this place and was impressed! Ample parking, delightful ambiance inside and out. The host promptly seated us, and I appreciated the attentive service - changing silverware and tidying up after each course. The steak tartare appetizer was delicious, and the spinach bucatini (clam-free) for the entree was absolutely delightful! I'm eagerly looking forward to returning for that dish. The warm chocolate tart for dessert was heavenly. Excellent service, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere - can't wait to return!
Cocktails were so good, we order the Otium and Birch Pop
Cocktails were so good, we order the Otium and Birch Pop cocktails wow very refreshing . I highly recommend the steak tartare , and the pork chop, however it did take about 40 minutes to get our pork chop , hopefully it was just a one time kitchen glitch . The staff were friendly and professional. The decor was nice and open , I'd definitely be returning soon !
Love the architecture of this restaurant and the food is
Love the architecture of this restaurant and the food is always exceptional. I love their changing menu but always their classic spinach bucatini is bomb. One amazing thing to note is that you can park at the Broad museum parking (entrance on 2nd St) for $8 when you have your ticket validated with Otium.
The food was excellent! The food is shareable so you can
The food was excellent! The food is shareable so you can get a few items on the menu. My husband and I came for our anniversary and they were so sweet and gave us a sweet anniversary card. The service was excellent, starting with the hostess, the server, the manager and the busy boy. Everyone was so attentive and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean, the decor is rustic. The restroom is very clean. You can dress up or dress down, however you feel. Everyone is welcomed. We will definitely return. It's a good restaurant next to the broad museum and Disney concert hall. The server was very considerate and did ask if we had a show to attend to and if we were crunched on time. However, we were not going to any show so we took our time eating a wonderful dinner.
Best service and food I ever had for awhile.
Exceeded my expectations. We went for dinner and got the naan, lobster mac, cauliflower but what stole the show was the chicken. It was soooo good honestly would go back in a heartbeat.
We love going here, especially if we have Disney Hall
We love going here, especially if we have Disney Hall tickets. Love the food, service is great, and ambiance is sometime loud with music but that's ok! Make sure to make your Rez early because they get booked for dinner.

Holy cow, I cannot say enough good about this place! The food is to die for. I am literally still here at the restaurant dying over how amazing the food is. I cannot recall the last time my taste buds were over the moon. The cauliflower appetizer was nothing like I've ever had before. It's ridiculously delicious. The chicken "main" dish with potatoes was heaven. The cab wine was fantastic. The view, the service...spectacular! It's a bit pricey but the food is meant to be shared. This place is over the top amazing. It's come here again and again. It's too die for. It's a must go and walking distance to the Ahmanson so it's perfect before a show. BTW, that are super mindful of that and inquired when I arrived. They also asked about food allergies. This place is awesome!
Weekday dinner.
We had early dinner reservations. At first we thought it wasn't necessary. We were wrong. The place filled up quickly. Make dinner reservations! The food and drinks were lovely. My favorites: Old fashioned Champagne Oysters Bucatini Potatoes Sorbet This place is a repeat! Enjoy!
Otium is a WOW for culinary creativity, flavor and palette pleasure
Otium is a WOW for culinary creativity, flavor and palette pleasure. The menu has selections that you have seen before, but here they've been tweaked in a way that has you thinking about your next visit. I selected the Rigatoni, Grandma's Bread, and ended with the Apple Crostata. The crowd was buzzing at lunch. My highest compliments and looking forward to my future visit.
Best dining experience ever.
Their menu is unique. Great place to bring guests or parents.

We've been to Otium several times in the past and this is
We've been to Otium several times in the past and this is the first poor experience we had. Sadly, we brought two first-timers with us, who were not impressed. Our reservation was early, at 545pm on a Thursday, so it was a surprise to learn they had run out of bread. They offered the nan bread instead, which we accepted, but it took over twenty minutes to arrive. We ordered some starters, oysters and pasta. The pasta came out before our oysters. We later learned they forgot about the oysters until after our pasta came out. Our party ordered two NY beef strip dishes. One medium and one medium-rare. The wait between the oysters (that came out after the pasta) and mains was over thirty minutes. The waiter, who we like & served us in the past, told us it would be another 15 minutes about 15 minutes into the wait. Not a huge deal, but when the steak arrived, both were cold, to include the sauce and onions in the plate. We told the waiter and the manager came over. They offered to warm it up, but that wasn't going to work for us. They took the steak back and removed them from the check, which we appreciated, but really made for a poor overall dinner experience for the group. Not sure why it would take 30 minutes to get a dish, then for it to come out cold, not even warm. While the manager took the meat off the bill, he was unapologetic. In fairness and completeness, we had fish collar, gnocchi and agnolotti, which were all really good. The fish collar was substantial and easily shared among two people. Overall, not the dinner experience we have come to expect at Otium and certainly not good for the price point. Based on prior positive experiences here, we may give them another shot.

This place is so fantastic! The menu has so many great options and everything was looks so appetizing. The restaurant has great interior setting and pleasant ambiance. The staff was so attentive and friendly. The portions were good. We really had a great dinner there. We had the Spinach Bucatini, Pork Belly Rice Bowl, and some appetizers and dessert. Nice experience dining there.
Excellent Service and I'd Gladly Return
I had to be in LA for a conference and my brother agreed to treat me at the restaurant of my choice. I didn't want to waste my chance to try a noteworthy place in the downtown area so I narrowed it down to four, one of them being Otium. I was hesitant, however, given the negative reviews. I'll address the issue of service, first. It was fairly crowded when we arrived for our 7:30 pm reservation. However, we were seated promptly and the waiters were gracious, attentive, and helpful when it came to answering our questions about the menu and they briefly explained how the family-style meal would commence. The wait was a little lengthy for our drinks and appetizers but not offensively so. For our appetizers, we ordered the Naan with Vermont Cultured Butter, which for me, was outstanding, if a bit pricey at $9 for one portion. Our friends ordered the Ora King Salmon Tartare, which was more of a miss than a hit in my opinion. For my cocktail, I had the Gonzo Daiquiri, which was one of the less expensive drinks ($17.00). I thoroughly enjoyed it as I’m a big fan of basil in beverages for some reason. My brother and his friends also voiced appreciation for their cocktails. For my entrée, I selected the Russet Potato Gnocchi ($32.00) with Parmesan, Guanciale (had to Google this; it's pork cheek—rich, fatty, and delicious!), and Truffle. My oh my, was I sorry that I had to share! I just wanted everyone to stop talking and go away so I could enjoy my dish in the silence and solitude that it merited. I’m not a chef or even someone who knows handmade, homemade pasta from Mueller’s but that gnocchi was heavenly—pillowy, light, orgasmic! It overshadowed any ills, faults, and missteps I had encountered prior to ingesting it. As for the other main dishes, they were pretty uninspired. For one thing, I get that this is a “family-style” place but the homey vibe was overdone, particularly as it relates to presentation. For example, I feel that the $40 Roasted Chicken with Potatoes, Spring Onions, Shishito, Cherry Tomatoes, and Aji Verde (a spicy Peruvian green sauce, made with cilantro, jalapeños, and a little mayonnaise and Parmesan) would have been better as a simpler dish. As served, it appeared to be a mound of chicken parts, each piece indistinguishable from the other. It was messy and unappetizing to view though it tasted fine. For sides, we ordered two. The Otium Potatoes ($11.00) with Aleppo Pepper and Crème Fraîche. They were tasty and had a nice texture but I think they might have gone well with the roasted chicken but what do I know… We also ordered the Cauliflower ($26.00) with Sultana (currents?), Grape, Caper, Almond, and Cilantro. This was easily the most distasteful, throwaway dish of the night. It was too firm for my taste and it lacked seasoning. We ended up eating a LOT of food and were too full for dessert. Overall, my brother said he’d be unlikely to return since there are so many other places in LA to eat. However, his friends said that they had tried Otium a few months ago and it hadn’t been as good as it was this time. For me, I’d return just for the gnocchi dish and also to try the other pasta dishes.
We are always looking to find new restaurants near Ahmanson
We are always looking to find new restaurants near Ahmanson and I think this one may be our favorite so far! We started with the naan bread and two different dips (truffle butter and bone marrow) which might have been excessive but were both phenomenal! I think we kept going back and forth on which one we loved more. We looked at some of the popular items on Yelp and went with the spinach bucatini, salmon, broccolini, and the steak and every dish was savory and rich in flavor. I can see why the spinach bucatini is a hit with a lot of people! The interior is beautiful with quick service since they're used to people trying to catch shows. The meal is on the pricier side but well worth if you're in the mood to splurge.
Gorgeous place to have a nice dinner.
Servers are always great and help answer any questions you may have with a sommelier in house to pair your wines. The naan was our favorite part of the menu and that is not taking away anything from the other ordered items. It's just how good the naan is. Not sure if the black cod and the duck breast is still on the menu, but the tomahawk is gigantic and should be shared. It is HEAVY and usually comes out last because it can take a while to cook so plan accordingly if you don't want leftovers.
One of the best things about this lovely restaurant next to
One of the best things about this lovely restaurant next to the Broad is its staff, charming young people who seem to like working there and who know a great deal about the food. As for the food, it's excellent; the menu is appetizing, inventive and well-designed. The physical space is lovely. I recommend Otium highly and look forward to going back.
The bacon potato gnocchi, naan with chicken liver mousse,
The bacon potato gnocchi, naan with chicken liver mousse, Otium potatoes, and rockfish with passion fruit and candied cashews were sooo delicious. Definitely felt like a splurge but I was able to use a $75 off $150 on the InKind app, which made this meal such a good deal! The ambience is modern and cozy and service was phenomenal. My favorite was definitely the rockfish with passion fruit and candied walnuts as it was cooked to perfection, deliciously sweet and sour, with a nice crunch and texture from the candied cashews.
One of the best dinner places with shareable plates for
One of the best dinner places with shareable plates for everyone! We booked this place since we a local concert to watch in the late evening. The inside layout is amazing cozy and perfect for a date night. They even have a wine room with shelves and rows of wine, quite the look! We sat down and got a couple drinks, I ordered an old fashioned and it was delicious, they really know how to make their drinks! We ordered a handful of dishes, appetizers, mains, and some pasta. There were so many items that looked amazing it was tough to say no to any of them. Their plates come out in shareable sizes and are perfect, a little taste of everything and that a perfect way to eat dinner. Everything tasted phenomenal and I truly mean phenomenal. The service was great, they were always attentive and took care of us every step of the way. We even finished with a little bit of desert. A perfect date night. Check this place out, it's an experience you won't forget!
$12 for a slice of bread.
When the waiter was asked about this, he stated "this is not McDonald's." Ran out of sole at 6 o'clock in the evening when the restaurant was only open for an hour? They bring the food out once it is prepared. That means that everybody at the table will be eating at different times. They forgot about our "sides", and offered to bring them out with the dessert. We've eaten here before, and the ambience is a plus. The food is fine when you finally eat it. But the service is beyond unbelievably poor. I wonder how long this restaurant will last

I enjoyed the food, the service was lovely, and the ambience for both dinner and brunch
Beautiful setting with some excellent dishes - at a price.
I dined here last December on a warmish LA night. Lovely setting adjacent to The Broad sharing a courtyard in DTLA. The restaurant itself is beautifully built with natural woods in a modern setting. I've dined here once before and decided to give it another chance as it fit well prior to my attendance at the LA Phil which is just one block away. Overall the experience was great. Service was very good however was a bit bummed that with all the pomp & circumstance welcome lecture about how to order (all at once, so we know how to portion it out for you) kinda goes out the window when your server/food runner messes that order up. In my case, I pretty much sat and watched my friend eat most if his entree which was delivered too early (and fully admitted by our server as a mistake) but then there was zero correction or adjustment on the experience. At least toss in a free drink for having the dinner flow impacted so much. Not the end of the world, however then again, don't open up the dining experience with a 'we need to tell you how to order.' Prices lean on the more expensive side but at least most of the portions justify. I had the Rockfish which was excellent - the taste, texture, quality, freshness and flavors all A+ and something I'd order again for sure and highly recommend. The $9 Naan bread was tasty as expected (and as compared to $3.50 at your favorite Indian restaurant - and those guys give you double the amount). The $20 Escarole starter salad was way overpriced as the leafy greens are spread thin across a plate - a small to medium sized portion. The $85 filet mignon was well overpriced as it was served drowned/sauced in a medium bowl which amounted to ~7 oz of meat at the end of the day. Service was attentive-ish. I requested regular seating but was placed at high tops which was annoying and unexplained. No idea about parking options as I just parked at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion lot which proved best for easy in/out vs the Disney Hall lot. I'm sure Otium offers parking somewhere but did not see anything in the area. They offer indoor and outdoor dining - suggest to push for the low standard tables unless you are more a high top kind of person but the tables are close to one another.
BEYOND GREAT
OTIUM was the perfect pre-concert dinner experience! We relied on the waiter's recommendations, and although I had some doubts as items were not what I would usually order, we could not have done better. We started with the bread and pate that it was so good I could have just made dinner of that and the perfect Old Fashion (that was the best cocktail I have ever had!) The bread was crispy and the balance was perfect. We shared all dishes and everything was beyond great. It was just a short walk to Disney Concert Hall, but next time we'll go earlier so we have time for dessert. This is the second time I've been there and it was even better than before!
Misleading menu
It is not specified on the menu that the price of the wines refers to the glass and not the bottle. This lack of information, which smacks of fraud, weighs heavily on the final bill
Great food, service and ambience
Had a great meal there. The host and hostess were nice enough to seat us in a large table by the window since we were leaving early. And the food was incredible. We started with the naan bread and bone marrow broth were innovation and delicious. The cucumber salad was fresh and delicious and creative. The cauliflower was also spectacular. But the tri tip topped offer the entire meal. Cooked rare and perfectly with a special rub and sauce. We were delighted with the entire meal and our server Ava was attentive and helpful.
Don't miss out on this one
Fabulous restaurant. If your in LA you must go here. It's delicious. Especially the home potatoes. Every thing we tried tasted great. Cooked from the heart

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Payouts
Anyone know how increase payout transfer to bank as I can only send $50 a day and they charge $5 for every transaction. There must be a way. I’ve contacted support two days ago and not a reply.
