😍 5/5 - Absolutely penomenal! Everything we had was incredibly

Absolutely penomenal! Everything we had was incredibly flavorful and delicious, each dish thoughtfully prepared with a variety of flavors that came together like a symphony. There are not many places in Portland where you can get SE Asian food in such unique and tantalizing preparations. First, we ordered cocktails. That in itself was a challenge as every drink sounded delicious! Just like the food, cocktails are created with several ingredients that add their own distinct flavor and simultaneously create a cohesive drink. The names of the cocktails are equally inventive. Since I like a bit of heat in my cocktails, I went with Every Hero Needs a Villian, a tequila based drink with mango, wasabi, lime leaf, Aperol, peach and a chili salted rim. Fabulous, but definitely needed more tequila. With recommendations from our waiter, we chose several plates so that we could try a variety of items. This is definitely the way to go at Oma's Hideaway. And even though we ordered four dishes, there are so many more we wants to try. The sweet potato dumplings (5) were lovely, the green curry sauce had a hint of spice from the drizzle of chili oil, but nothing overpowering. Tooped with crispy shallots and roasted peanut, I could have devoured all five on my own!The Roti is a must! The homemade Malaysian flatbread was light, fluffy and also crispy. Dipped in the curry, every bite elicited an oooh or aaaahh. For protein we had the Char Siu platter that came with bbq pork belly and slices of rice spice pork cocoa; and brown buttered shrimp in a coconut lime leaf sauce. Both excellent choices, the shrimp being my fave. Oma's Hideaway is the creation of the owners of Gado Gado, another standout. Both restaurants are popular because they live up to the hype. My advice is book a reservation So you are guaranteed a table. What the website didn't indicate is that reservations are for 90 minutes. We we're not aware of the limit and ordered a glass of wine after dinner. Two wins in, the host came over to let us know we had gone past our allotted time and that the next reservation was waiting. It was embarrassing - so I'm putting this in my review to save you the same. Wish they would have told us when they seated us. Still rating 5 stars because food, cocktails, ambiance and waiter were all off the charts fabulous.
