Oma San Francisco Station Reviews from The Last Year
Had my first omakase experience here for my birthday and I
Had my first omakase experience here for my birthday and I loved it! It is a very small and intimate seating and you get to watch the chefs make the food which was a delight. They gave me a few freebies for my birthday which was super sweet of them. Definitely one of the more affordable omakase options in the city. I was worried that I wouldn't be full but I was very satisfied by the end. All the fish was very fresh and I got to try ingredients I never had before - love being able to expand my palette.
This was my first experience with omakase and I'm so glad
This was my first experience with omakase and I'm so glad it was here. I came here with my cousin. 8 seats tucked away in a corner of the shopping plaza. The food was incredible and the chef was amazing. Attentive, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable. It was all delicious, but I think the highlight for me was the Hokkaido Scallop. The texture and flavor were perfect. I left the meal feeling full but refreshed! This first omakase experience set the bar pretty high.
My partner and I had dinner last week at Oma.
They have two seatings. We had the 7:15PM seating. The restaurant is basically a sushi bar that seats 8 people elbow to elbow. The chairs are counter-stool with no back support. I weight 150 lbs and can barely fit on the stool. It is early January. There is an exit door to the street next to the sushi bar. That exit door is opened at all times. There is no heat in the restaurant. We had sushi with out thick jackets on. The food really made up for the uncomfortable temperature and seat. The variety of nigiri is excellent. The chef, Chef Ron did a great job preparing and presenting every dish. The saki was excellent and reasonably priced. We'll definitely go back to Oma at summer time; when it is warm.

I'm really happy that I had my first dinner of 2024 with my friends at Oma SF Station. We are all so obsessed with the whole course and had a really wonderful night. The appetizer tastes so refreshing to start the course. Every nigiri had their own special taste that the chef match with different combinations, like the sauces and leaf. The fishes are so yummy, my friends and I kept saying we couldn't go back for normal sushi places anymore. Oh yea! And we can choose our own shot cup for the sake! They have so many cute shot cups. The whole dinner is so worth the price, and better than some omakase places ( even more pricey) we been before. Thank you Oma SF and Chef! Happy 2024!
Omakase
I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday with my husband at this restaurant. We got seated when we got there and ordered our bottle of sake. They had a small selection but we asked for a recommendation since we aren't familiar with sake. The bottle they offered was perfect for what we wanted. Each dish was fresh and flavorful. By the end they asked if we wanted anything ala cart but the omakase we chose was plenty enough. Would recommend coming here for a date.

Wow! Oma transported me back to Japan with its OUTSTANDING sushi and phenomenal service. Just a small sushi bar, you feel like you are at the most sought after sushi bar in a Tokyo subway station... because you are... it's cozy and intimate and the sushi is out of this world. Sake list is impressive too. We ordered a few bottles of sake and each one was a pure delight. The service was flawless. We felt so spoiled by the sushi chef (Chef Ron - brilliant!!) who was also so friendly and kind. We went here for my husband's birthday and it was such a fun night and all around memorable experience. I highly recommend coming here for any special occasion or if you just want the absolute best sushi ever!
The omakase itself was just alright imo; the hype is all
The omakase itself was just alright imo; the hype is all purely aesthetic/location. Just OK omakase for the price, but you're mostly paying for the seat itself. The service is alright, pretty much what you'd expect at any omakase place. In summary, there was nothing remarkable about the omakase here, and everything was pretty average.

I've been here before the pandemic when they first open and I loved it. It is pretty affordable and filling. Well depending on which omakase you order. My gf pre-order their top for 160 preset omakase meal. She thought it was pretty pricy and thought it was ok but for me, I enjoyed it very much . I guess everyone has their own preferences and taste. I would try their smaller set menu at a cheaper price before you try their 160 pre-set omakase. Overall this is my review and not my friend which I give them 4 star.
The food was great.
Fresh and thoughtfully prepared sushi. It's a little nook inside the mall at Japantown. If you're more comfortable in a traditional restaurant setting (like one with four walls) you might feel a little strange here. It's pricey, but the chefs do go to great lengths to make your experience memorable. Food and service is 5 stars. Not 5 stars overall only because of the odd placement inside the mall. If I could give 4.75 I would.
This place is inside Japanese town in downtown SF.
Despite all the 1 star reviews, I gave it a try and surprisingly it was really good. You actually got full for those little sushi. The price matches the quality and quantity. The duck and uni was the best for me. The chef was really nice and talked to us through the whole course. They have limited seatings, so reservation was recommended. They were not busy at the time we were there.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
