O Mandarin Chinese Cuisine Hartsdale Reviews from The Last Year
Best Chinese food in the Westchester area (Aberdeen is best
Best Chinese food in the Westchester area (Aberdeen is best for dim sum) Rivals or beats that of most NYC restaurants (I only like Sichuan Mountain house better for sichuan food) Authentic and delicious Ambience is very nice Service good as well Lunch specials not bad Specific dishes I've tried over time kung pao chicken 9/10 - really really good taste, good portion toothpick lamb $28 9.5 - so good, , good taste, good portioni can eat this over and over yu xiang pork $22 . 8/10 - its solid. not mind blwoing taste, and cheaper.. lots of nice little ingreditents like mushroom. slightly sweet, slightly spicy beef sour soup $26 4/10 - beef is tough. not as much as sichuan mountain hosue. the soup is nice though. but not sour enough. not worth the price. main issue is the beef is tough. go to sichuan mountain house for this one sichuan hot pot 9/10 - flavorful, lots of meat, so solid value. good balance of spice, savory, sichuan flavor basal chicken 8/10 - more of a light dish but still flavorfull. chicken, jalepeno, leeks. chicken is very tender. chili oil dumplings - 9/10 - very good rendition. complex flavors. nice and spicy. just wish inside was as plump as din tai fun mongolian beef - 8/10 solid standard rendition

Came to O Mandarin for a casual weekend lunch without a reservation. The outside looked a little plain but the inside looks nice, spacious, and elegant, with the same decor as the main branch on Long Island. We were seated immediately. The menu is a lot smaller than the one on Long Island but they had some great stuff too. We had the garlic beef, sweet/sour ribs, dan dan noodles, bean sprouts, and soup dumplings. All the food came out so quickly, it was great. Honestly, everything just hit the spot and this is definitely going to be one of our favorite spots in the area now. Although, they did not seem to have a proper dessert menu, when we asked for dessert, the server showed us some random pictures, so it would be nice to have a proper dessert menu because there are a lot of dessert in Chinese food to be proud about. Service was overall decent, no complaints there. O Mandarin has pretty authentic Chinese food for anyone looking for a good spot!
Interior of the restaurant was very nice.
Service is good. The food was average at best. We had beef fried rice, which had very little flavor shrimp with garlic and pepper zero flavor the duck, which was a little too dry and again not much flavor. The dumplings were good. A little over priced in my opinion for what it was.
i ordered General Tso's dinner portion.
The chicken was hard and tough. The sauce was good. I ordered the pancakes and they were served up with two containers of what I believe was chili sauce. Both containers were empty when I got them home. So the pancakes were soggy. I have eaten at O Mandarin before and enjoyed it. But this was the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Threw out the leftovers when it didn't agree with my stomach. Thought the insulated bag was too much. I'd rather you brought the prices down. Very disappointed.
Couldn't be much worse
Our previous visit with a party of 4 was excellent. Today, 5July2024 was very disappointing. We had a party of 7. Food was served haphazardly. Two of us had to wait about 10 minutes for our food after others had been served. My General Tso's Chicken was lackluster in taste and the accompanying broccoli was cold. It will be a while before we dine there again; probably a long while. (I'm being generous with my rating for this dining experience.)
This restaurant was hands down the best experience I've had.
The service was terrific, and my waiter was attentive and made great small talk. Now, the food was served in a family-style setting. My family and I ordered the vegetable fried rice, general tso chicken, and the Sichuan shrimp and fillet pot, all of which were amazing. But the best meal we ordered was the half duck. I truly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a new experience in Westchester County.

O Mandarin's amazing decor makes visiting this strip-mall restaurant feel like a genuine occasion! The inflating pancakes are a favorite(!), along with other delicious dishes.
Yum but pricey
Vegan Food I ate was delicious and the service was good but I felt rushed because the guest turnover is so fast. I barely got up from the table and it was cleared and other diners were seated. I could not believe the high price for my sake - $28 - which I ordered having not looked at the menu and without warning. Next time I will be wiser when I order,.
worst service I have ever had.
they sat us at a 3 person table when we had 5 and they called us fat because they can fit "5 smaller people at the table" the waiter screamed in my girlfriends face. Would not recommend to my worst enemy

10/10.
I never imagined such an amazing restaurant could be found in an unassuming strip mall right next to a BBQ Chicken and an H Mart. I came here with a party of 8 for a graduation party, and it was the perfect choice of restaurant. The service was spectacular; the staff even provided candles for our cake! And the food was outstanding. The scallion bubble pancake is a unique take on the typical scallion pancake, and it was so addicting to eat - especially paired with the curry sauce. The peking duck was also delicious, along with the several other dishes I tried (smoked duck fried rice, dan dan noodles, cold jellyfish salad, pork belly and cabbage, etc.). The whole fish was beautifully presented, and the sweet and sour sauce was a great choice. The fish was also deboned, which I appreciated as someone who doesn't like eating fish with bones. My entire experience here was amazing!

REALLY enjoyed Omandarin! I went with a friend for an early dinner and we ordered several appetizers with the intent of getting at least one main course. But....we got full! All of the dumpling options were absolutely delicious and I especially loved the steamed buns (which were served "deconstructed" to build your own). The decor is lovely and service was spot on. By the time we left, the dining area was almost full. I recommend going early or making a reservation. I'll definitely be back.
I shop frequently at HMart.
.. which is in the same strip mall Omandarin is located. I would've never have thought such a place existed at this location. The outside gives no clue to what you will encounter once inside. The space is beautifully curated and impeccably clean. The staff... friendly and attentive. The food, while pricey, well seasoned... delicious and generous portions.
Been waiting to try this place, so we made a reservation
Been waiting to try this place, so we made a reservation for Saturday evening for a party of 6 the day of. I was surprised I even got one. When we arrived they were very busy; a good sign. There are a lot of things I wanted to try on the menu, but had to order more tame items to cater to the little people with me. The hits: soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, bubble scallion pancake (the dipping sauce was different and delicious), twice cooked pork, mushrooms with bok choy, and beef fried rice. What was just ok? Dan dan noodles and garlic pepper shrimp. I look forward to trying the wontons in chili oil, mapo tofu, dry fried green beens and a fish dish is a must. Now I need to make up an excuse to go to hartsdale!
Omandarin was amazing.
Packed, so we sat at the bar. Loved the Peking Duck. The house fish soup was amazing, tasty, with a vinegar bite, and a huge bowl to share, And a mushroom dish, forget the name, but astounding. And the lemon tea.

We had some take-outs from this place but the quality of the food was not what we expected. We ordered Shanghai spring roll (I won't even call this is Shanghai spring roll), shumai (ok), Peking duck (We were really regret to order it. It is not even close to a real Peking duck), non-spicy Sichuan peppercorn tofu skin (ok, maybe the spicy one will be better), tofu skin & napa cabbage (good), and shrimp chao mein (good).

We have been dining in this restaurant for almost two years now and I must say we have had nothing but excellent meals every time. On top of great food, I am always pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the staff is. It does not matter how busy they are, and the usually are, the staff is very attentive. We have two small boys and the servers always go the extra mile even for them. Our family favorites are their soup dumplings, and their whole fried sweet and sour fish.

O'Mandarin is one of the few remaining restaurants in Westchester for really good dine-in Chinese cuisine (they do a lot of take-out too). Because of this, they are really busy and reservations are a must during dinner time. The food is delicious and the service is good. I highly recommend dining there if you haven't already tried it.

Randomly came across this place and pleasantly the food was good ....service was good . Ambiance is relaxed and cozy . Therefore , I left satisfied and full.
Great ambiance with an almost chain food feel.
Try the soup dumplings and the Dan Dan noodles - very good albeit they've put their own spin on these. The spicy, Chinese mustard flavored noodles always deliver comfort food goodness very unique to this restaurant. Give it a try!

Decided to try this place while on a business trip in the area. The restaurant is beautiful with traditional decor and lots of beautiful wood. I definitely was hungry because I ordered way too much food but it was so good! Spicy wonton- sauce was a tad salty but still good with less sauce Shumai- plump shrimp, filled with broth and yummy dipping sauce Shrimp fried rice- good size shrimp that they weren't stingy with. Great seasoning! Green beans- extra peppery but so good. Had a god crunch! Bok choy and mushrooms- earthy with great flavor General Tso's- large pieces of chicken, crispy with a tangy sauce. Service was decent. Servers were nice but never came back to check so I had to consistently flag them down. I will definitely come back!
We've eaten at O'Mandarin many many times.
Why? Because it is the only really good Sichuan restaurant anywhere in Westchester/western Fairfield counties. We liked it better before it was "discovered" when there were fewer people and less expensive. But the food hasn't changed. Many standout dishes but our family favorites are the Sichuan wontons, pork shoulder, Chunking chili chicken.

I ordered the wild mushrooms hot appetizer and the fish appetizer and ma pi tofu with brown rice. The fish had too much flour. The gravy of the ma po tofu also has too much flour.
This is not your basic Chinese restaurant.
Everything is so fresh and the menu very diverse. Things I've never seen at other Chinese restaurants. The young wait staff are the sweetest, and give descriptions of the food if you want. Best Chinese food in Westchester!

After having eaten here for several years, I now have mixed reviews of the place. Stopped in last night for a date night, and ordered scallion pancake, soup dumplings and Sichuan Wonton, then the Sichuan Hot Pot to share. Other than the wontons being luke warm, the apps were fine and as expected. But the hot pot, oh man. There was so much salt that it was simply inedible. We took it home and I tried to desalinize it with potatoes, to no avail. Previous experiences with mains (porkbelly, thousand year tofu and Gen Tso come to mind) were mostly positive (say, 4/5), but stay away from the Sichuan Pepper entree as it suffers from the same salt problem. Ambiance is nice, staff are pleasant. Prices are a bit high, and that makes it all the more frustrating when they ruin a dish with so much salt. (On saltiness, please note, this is not an exaggeration - the amount of salt actually dries your mouth, numbs your tongue and leaves an odd metallic aftertaste.)

The food is not authentic szechuan cuisine! Throwing a bunch of peppercorns and loading up on the dark soy! The food was inedible...didn't even bother to take it home. Just waste of $...I'll be heading to Flushing, Queens for authentic Chinese food.
Omandarin is a staple and we stopped by on Valentine's Day.
There was a long wait but definitely well worth it. We usually order to go but wanted to sit down to celebrate. We try to order something different every time we go because they have such a big menu. I also recommend trying the duck dishes which are also super good.
We have eaten here at least a dozen times.
However, this time the waiter was overbearing. We always ordered the Basil Chicken not spicy. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN ASKED THE FOLLOWING BY THE WAITER: how much peppercorn and red pepper we wanted. We repeated not spicy. Once again the waiter said if you eliminate the peppercorn and red pepper it will change the taste and it will be bland. We have ordered the Basil Chicken not spicy dozens of times before and it always came out fine. He said the cooks in the kitchen don't speak English and wouldn't understand not spicy. The second dish we ordered was vegetable Chao Mein. WHERE WERE THE VEGETABLES ? ABSOLUTELY NONE!!! The appetizer was brought out with the main meal. We told the waiter to take the meal back and let us finish the appetizer first. Overall, the meal was okay, not as good as in prior visits.
Best Chinese food I've had in Westchester.
Beautiful space great service and I will most definitely be going back.
An Extraordinary Lunch
We 2 elderly couples dined here for lunch. We ordered tea, spring rolls, and dumpling soup, The entrees included Beef Brisket & Tomato, Scallion Pepper Shrimp and Sweet Pea Shrimp. We also had the Pumpkin Cake. Everything, and I mean everything … was GREAT! Great service, too.
Greedy Owner
We have been going to O Mandarin for quite a few years. We love good wine and so they allowed us to bring our bottle for $20.00 corking fee. Last night, we brought our wine, had a decent dinner, too much salt, we asked them not to put too much. When my husband asked for the check, we were charged $40.00 for the corking fee. It would have been nice if they told us at the beginning when we were seated, that they raised their prices. Our whole meal didn't cost that much. We are very disappointed and for that very reason, we will not be returning. We have been to many expensive restaurants and their corking fee is $25.00. The owner shouldn't treat good customers like that. He is very greedy. GOOD BYE 🍷
Could be alot better.
The restaurant has a romantic vybe- lacks asian background. food prices are way overpriced for what you get. food is more salty than average. many chinese food dishes were not present on menu. service was good. main dish was brought out prematurely.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
