Yummy!
I was skeptical trying a new restaurant I have never heard nor been to before. Due to a late decision when and where we should dine to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary brought us here. It was serendipity at its best! When I found out that Chef Claude de Tohic was a former Executive Chef at Joel Robuchon in Vegas where we have dined before, I was SO excited!!! I knew right away that our experience here would be a big hit. Joel Robuchon is my favorite Michelin Star Chef. We were just at one of his Paris’ restaurant last summer at L’Atelier Joel Robuchon (see my review). Back to this restaurant, the place was cute, a bit plain but the art hung on the wall were vibrant which added beautiful contrast inside the dining room. Food were delicious! An array of delicious breads (my favorite!) which was presented to us prior to having the amuse bouche was actually Joel Robuchon’s signature bread basket. The colorful, beautiful food presentations looked delicious! Every dish was scrumptious! Loved every dish. We had the “Grand Winter Tasting Menu” with 9 dishes to quench our curious palates. I didn’t want it to end. It was rather so short. We definitely would like to go back one day. A gentleman by the name of Zach waited on us. He was friendly, helpful and was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and took pride in his profession. Our time at the restaurant was enjoyable.

This is one of the best Michelin restaurants we have ever visited, the food was sublime, the staff were excellent and the ambience wonderful. Our evening was made even better by the amazing service we received by Karlo ,Lee and Mark. On our next visit to San Francisco we will definitely visit this amazing business again ,the staff in the cocktail bar and the patisserie on the ground floor were really friendly and welcoming. Congratulations on your success at the ICC and Leon.

Wife and I made reservations for a weeknight at 5:30 PM, the time the restaurant opens. The restraint’s location is curious. It is in a building which bears the address, 165 O’Farrell St, the first floor of which is a cafeteria-like restaurant. You have to first enter it then go into a corridor on the right to enter an elevator and go to the 5th floor. The elevator was attended by the restaurant hostess. Once inside, O’ by Claude Le Tohic is a beautiful, elegant restaurant with comfortable table and chairs and subdued light. We were welcomed by the staff, and seated at a very comfortable corner table. We chose the five course tasting menu. In a word, the food was exquisitely prepared and served, with delicate flavor and taste. We were also impressed by the quality and variety of their baked goods served – bread, croissants, brioche, etc. They have an extensive wine list. We had kir royale which was excellent, and wife had a glass of chardonnay which was crisp and to her liking, and I had their “grand gimlet” which was good and interesting. It was good to know that they can make regular cocktails such as my favorite Tangueray martini. Unlike some other more highly Michelin starred restaurants in San Francisco, the food here was reasonably substantial and we did not feel the desire to supplement the food by stopping at a nearby burger joint. In fact, by the time they brought us the dessert tray containing many different confections, we were quite satiated, and they kindly wrapped our choices to take home. The service was exceptionally attentive and professional. Overall, a very satisfying experience for this Michelin starred restaurant. We will definitely be back, and have the nine course tasting menu.

The food was so special…so delicious! We ordered the 5-course tasting along with a wine flight tasting. Everything was exceptional! The dining room was small but nicely furnished. The service was AMAZING! Everyone there was so welcoming, friendly and informative. A very special dining experience.

This is an outstanding restaurant. We chose the long menu with the wine pairing. Every dish was executed flawlessly. My favorites were the top-notch Bulgarian caviar in three different presentations. This was accompanied with a glass of excellent French champagne. Two other delicious courses were the salmon and the venison, which was covered with superb pepper sauce in wine reduction. The wines were of high quality and judiciously chosen. I especially admired the choice of a Vosnée-Romanée red Burgundy for the lobster and an exquisite white Burgundy for the salmon. The service was attentive and efficient. A great experience.

Maybe these are normal prices for the USA, but we think it is overrated, by far. In the Netherlands you can eat and drink more for the same price in a three star Michelin restaurant. The food was good. The starters were excellent, but the vegetarian main course (a plate with a lot of white asperragus with gravy) wasn't delicate at all. In advance my boyfriend informed the restaurant about my allergies. Maybe they don't know what dairy means? Otherwise, I don't understand the bowl of yoghurt-like stuff as a dessert.

9 course tasting menu was superb! It was a nice, quiet meal. You can hear yourself speak. I wish the servers knew a little more about each dish and paid a little more attention to bread crumbs on the table. The pace was great...about 2 hours. Great mocktails too. The desseet cart is super impressive. The bread basket was unlimited and very good. The photos say it all.

We really enjoyed this place. The tasting menu was delicious especially the fish courses. The atmosphere is nice--I wouldn't say great. That is a taste thing you might love it. The staff was really good except one waiter who got cranky because we wanted to take a picture of our food before lifting a glass case. That said we would totally go back. If you want some place to have fine dinning in Union Square this is it. Go early it takes time to eat that much food. It was the right amount for a tasting menu.
