The food and service were good.
However, I did hear one of the chefs verbally abusing other kitchen staff members multiple times which is really not acceptable.
Be the first to ReplyThis excellent fine dining place in the amoy street area
This excellent fine dining place in the amoy street area has a Michelin star since 2017. We went here for lunch and had the set 3 course lunch menu. The focus is on presentation and farm sourced organic ingredients from the owners farms in the Cameron Highlands area. We started of with hand made sourdough with a chwanmunshi silky tofu dip that had very interesting flavor profile. The started was a spinach infused cheese dip with fresh herbs and salad was fresh and beautifully presented. Mains was black grouper for me which was ok. My wife got the vegetarian course which was roasted pumpkin and grilled tarragon which honestly tasted better. Dessert was a whisky jelly with chocolate and home made ice cream which was great. Service was impeccable. Worth a visit for sure!
Be the first to ReplyInnovative fine dining spot- Came for the Omakase lunch.
Would describe the experience as interesting. The food is innovative and thoughtful circling around a cross-cultural East meets West theme though taste-wise was nothing too special Details by dishes below:- Bread and broth - probably my favorite / most interesting dish - thick slice of bread served with a panna cotta like dip made of tofu and a thin layer of butter - a super interesting dish texture-wise- Vegetable broth - a very comforting soup explosive in flavors- Seared tuna in consommé - ok / def have had better version of this- Lobster - many flavors here but they are a bit separated - don't come together as well - appreciate the attempt to make the dish refreshing with some acidity but I found it a bit out of balance- Crab claw in black pepper sauce with beetroots. My least favorite dish. The crab claw was frankly quite mediocre and the beetroots were below average - couldn't finish it...- Seared steak with vegetable puree. Ok / standard beef - again have had better ones- Strawberry/raspberry dessert - standard good / nothing specialExtensive wine selection and knowledgable staff. Service is somewhat a mixed bag though - one of the servers was very knowledgable and very service-oriented, the other though was somewhat indifferent and below standard of what I expected from a restaurant of this caliberOverall, would recommend checking out for an interesting / exciting / somewhat provocative culinary experience though don't expect to be blown away
Be the first to ReplyInnovative, exciting and flavourful.
Only set menus are served here and they are incredibly well- balanced. Service was stellar. We found out that the menu changes only twice a year so will have to check before we next visit.
Be the first to ReplyNouri is a new restaurant opened by Ivan Brehm that markets
Nouri is a new restaurant opened by Ivan Brehm that markets itself as "crossroads" cuisine or "food that takes influence from around the globe by showcasing the similarities and connections shared across cultures". There are two dining concepts - dinner in the dining room mainly at a communal table and smaller dishes at the bar for "supper". We went for a 5 course tasting menu and definitely enjoyed it. In fact, we were thinking that Nouri should be a Michelin winner, and later in the week, they were one of the new restaurants on the list! In any case, the honor is well-deserved as Nouri was one of the most interesting dining experiences I have had in Singapore. The food is flavorful, artistic and thought provoking all at the same time. The meal started with simple courses like salmon roe on lettuce and concentrated jellied-broth before moving on to some complex dishes like a wild rice stem served withsteam roasted Makomotake, spiced buttermilk gratin, cultured cabbage. The risotto with fermented Japanese chilli paste, aged carnaroli rice, and deep water scarlet prawns was extremely flavorful, while the Brazilian fritter was also quite good. For the main course, we went with the grass-fed wagyu rump cap, which was so tender and very artistically presented with various oils and nasturtium leaves.Service was very solid, a bit off beat and very entertaining. Our server knew the menu very well as well as made very interesting suggestion for wines. After the Michelin awards, I expect that Nouri will become been more popular and it will be interesting to see how the menu and concept evolves. So far, my favorite place in 2018!
