Went here for lunch for our anniversary and ordered a la carte. It was relatively easy to get reservations since it was for lunch and reasonably priced since we did a La carte and not the tasting menu.We were seated immediately, and the server was very responsive and friendly, answering our questions about vegetarian options. The place was very well lit and the view overlooking Central Park was stunning! We had initially booked the outdoor cabin but due to weather we had to change to indoors, but I'm sure the outdoor cabin would have been even more stunning. We ordered:Burrata - 5/5 pineapple sauce was a great unexpected comboCavatelli pasta - 4/5 garlic sauce tasted amazing but not much vegetables added to replace the scallopsBreaded chicken - 5/5 tasted amazing as per husband

Over praised and overpriced restaurant with health and quality issues.During a dinner, a pasta dish came covered with cheese (not requested and not listed on the menu); on further questioning, the waiter acknowledged that the "meatballs" contained not only meat but cheese. Unsafe for those with allergies and/or lactose intolerance. The dish was replaced. The maitre d' said that the menu would be updated. The champagne was Not opened at the table and displayed a paucity of mousse (bubbles). The sommelier stated it was a style of French champagne and offered a glass of prosesco instead. Had this half-bottle lost pressure (run out of gas)?We had to ask Three times for bread/rolls. Clearly a disappointment at high cost. Coasting on its reputation.

Nougatine is located in a dining room right outside of the Michelin Jean Georges. It is a beautiful location right next to Central Park. This menu was much more affordable than next door with a la carte options. There was also a prefix menu with 4 courses however we opted to go a la carte, as that would've been so much food. We ordered two apps: foie gras terrine, which was a new and interesting take on the typical foie gras, first this is terrine so it's cold (I normally prefer poele), and it's a pretty thick piece on top of toast with cranberries and pistachios, and a hard sugar brûlée coat. The other flavors certainly played down the strong foie gras taste. Also ordered the tuna tartare, which was excellent! With a delicious ginger sauce. Very good! For main, we shared the large veal chop, which was huge! It was straight on the bone pounded and breaded. With fresh Brussels sprouts and potato salad. And to top off, the passion fruit soufflé was incredible! This was hubby approved!! Overall, excellent meal!

Hadn't been to Nougatine or Jean-Georges since before the pandemic. What a letdown. Went for breakfast. A nice server took our order very specifically in order to get it correct. Three of us ordered poached eggs, all soft. One order came out soft, one medium, and mine hard-cooked. The chef forgot the parmigiana on my dish. The side of potatoes was four half-inch thick disks on a round plate, with no presentation whatsoever. Doesn't anyone check what comes from the kitchen? Don't they CARE what comes out of the kitchen?

The "lesser" of the 2 Jean-Georges restaurants in this space, but still with excellent service and food, and great bang for your buck. Don't miss the passionfruit sorbet for dessert.

I love Jean George dinning room and made a reservation at Nougatine during Restaurant Week. We were seated promptly at a wonderful table and found the service to be of Jean Georges high standard. My disappointment was in the selection of foods on the Restaurant Week Menu. My wife ordered the Salmon Tartare which was very oily from the toast, I had the Tomato soup which was delicious. For our main courses, my wife had the fish which was beautifully covered in crispy potatoes slices but there was too much chili oil, which overpowered the dish. (I know Jean Georgia use of some spice, due to the Vietnamese-French style) but this dish was too spicy. The chicken was nicely presented but boring to Jean-Georges standard. Next time back tot he regular menu.

One of my favorite places to come we enjoy trying their tasting menu. It's gives you a chance to taste their amazing dishes and use of seasonal items. There atmosphere is amazing the views are spectacular but the food is out of this world. I can never get enough of their egg toast and caviar it's like the best grilled cheese you will ever have but with out the cheese. Everyone must try this item at least once in their life.
Be the first to ReplyMade reservations for restaurant week.
We loved the vibe of the restaurant, it felt quite romantic with dimmed lights and flowers on the table. Staff was very attentive and quick. My favorite part of this restaurant week course was the appetizer. The tomato soup was amazing, so creamy and flavorful. Possibly the best I've ever had. Tuna tartare was also delicious, I enjoyed the flower petals on top. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the main course, the Flounder. I just found it to be a little bland. What made the chicken plate good was the spicy green sauce it came with. Desert is not pictured however I felt it made up for the entree. Overall I had a great experience and would return. I'm sure other items not on restaurant week menu are worth it
Be the first to ReplyCame for resturant week winter23 and it was worth.
Nougatine at Jean-Georges is the bar room right situation right before the main dining area / where the kitchen is. Food was great and service was stellar. As expected. Would come again to try their menu outside of the pre fixe set.
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a Sunday night to try their tasting menu.
Atmosphere was quite nice (would recommend for an occasion/date night) and all the staff were polite and prompt. We both got the tasting menus which we thought was reasonably priced for the food and quality. We left feeling full but not stuffed. The egg toast was quite delicious (not sure if I'd spend the money on that separate from the tasting menu) and the chocolate lava cake at the end was delicious

The atmosphere was very nice and fitting and the servers here are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Foodwise, the egg toast with caviar is a must try as the egg yolks with the caviar was an amazing combo. Out of all the entrees ordered, the tenderloin easily took the crown as it was extremely flavorful and light. For dessert, the peach pie was an absolute favorite. The exterior was buttery and flakey while the peaches inside were extremely decadent and perfectly cook. The only thing I would say about this dessert is that it is not something you should order if you are in a time crunch because you may have to wait a little for it.Would definitely come back to order the egg toast... probably a few of them.

3.5 / 4.0 - I came to Nougatine with a friend for Sunday brunch, because we wanted to try their Brioche French Toast.I'd been here for dinner previously, but this was my first time for brunch. During dinner time, it's dark outside so it doesn't make much of a difference where you sit in terms of views. For brunch or lunch, it is much brighter and nicer sitting by the windows. Even though we'd made reservations, our seat was dark and next to the kitchen entryway, with servers on the other side of the panel. If possible, I'd recommend requesting a table by the window, considering the atmosphere is part of the whole dining experience. The Brioche French Toast was sweet and delicious, with plenty of fruit on top. Even with just Brioche French Toast and orange juice, the bill was over $40, so it's not an inexpensive meal, but definitely worth a try if you're a fan of French Toast.

We had breakfast at Nougatine during our stay at the Trump Hotel. I understand that this restaurant is separate from the hotel. Our server was extremely nice and attentive. We love the food and services. When we tried to enter the restaurant for breakfast. We were denied entrance because my husband was wearing shorts and slippers. We respected the restaurant dress code and left. We got his shoes from the car (waited 30 mins because we did valet parking) and changed to long pants. We entered the restaurant again and got seated this time. However, when I left the restaurant, I saw another table with 2-3 Caucasian gentlement who also dressed in shorts and slippers. We were also told by the hotel manager that Nougatine dress code is casual. Despite the positive experience we had with the food and services, I was extremely bothered by what I witnessed. I hope this is not what I'm thinking it is for such a fine establishment.

Let me start off by saying I hope it was an off night for them. I went with a group of 5 people and it took 3 hours when it should have taken max 2. The night got off on the wrong foot after having to ask to order apps not once but TWICE. They then bring us complimentary cornbread balls that weren't even warm. Luckily, the calamari, tuna tartare, crispy rice, and warm shrimp salad saved the day on food. However, the burger is NOT the best burger in NYC. They completely messed up my friends order and gave him a plain burger -- got sent back to add cheese & it was burnt to melt the cheese.... My tenderloin was cooked to perfection so once again, half hit half miss. Overall, I was prepared to be wowed... and I was not wowed.

Went to several Jean-Georges restaurants on this trip and this was the worst experience. The restaurant was half empty but they still managed to bring me the wrong dish. They realized it on their own, and offered to make what I ordered, but my guests were eating and we had limited time, so it wasn't much of an offer. I ended up with a kale salad which I didn't like, and got charged for it on top of everything. The primary reason to go to a restaurant like Nougatine is for the service, and it was abysmal. There are so many nice restaurants in that area; do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

They might be better for lunch or dinner but breakfast was totally disappointing. We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for a long time since we live right near by. Took forever to receive our food and my wife's eggs arrived cold and my omelette was lukewarm. My bf wife received white toast when she had ordered whole grain. Waitress served extremely overwhelmed and snapped at us when I asked for more jam. This was perhaps due to a shortage of staff that morning. We probably be won't be back.

After dropping nearly $900 for lunch, my friends and I left feeling pretty disappointed by the whole experience. My friend and I arrived first and were seated while we were waiting for our other 2 friends to arrive. No one came by to greet us or offer us water. We stopped one of the waiters and asked for water. Then after my whole party arrived, we waited at least 20 mins for a waiter to come by to take our order. At one point, we even stopped one of the waiters and told them we were ready to order, and were told he would get our waiter. It was amateur hour. Finally, we ordered (4 x tasting menu), only for the food to come out in uneven intervals. There were long waits in between a couple of the courses. And the waitstaff even came by at one point and accidentally kicked my chair, and didn't offer so much as an "excuse me" or anything. The food was decent, but nothing blew me away. I expected more from a $159 tasting menu. All in all, I was not impressed. TLDR: food was ok, service was abysmal. Thumbs all the way down.
Be the first to ReplyWorst 500 meal I've had and a waste of a special occasion
Worst 500 meal I've had and a waste of a special occasion meal. I was excited to return to nougatine for my first time since the pandemic to celebrate a big milestone. pre pandemic nougatine was our go-to special night out meal - we'd been dozens of times. Last night's tasting menu was dreadful. Two of the courses I couldn't finish (The sauce on the tuna tartare was so overpowering the dish was inedible. The sea bass was over cooked and the accompanying fava beans undercooked.) on another course, the chimichurri was so salty I couldn't taste the herbs and the vegetables under the tenderloin were blanched inconsistently (some were overcooked, others basically raw). They threw in a couple extra desserts (the desserts remain delicious I'm happy to report) when we complained but still charged the full 300 (plus charging a full extra course for one that had to be swapped out for my husbands allergy ... Instead of the few dollars extra we had expected for swapping in the a slightly more expensive appetizer). So disappointing. we will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and great service.
There is also a great view of Broadway & the big globe. Shout out to Ed for making my time there so happy(´`) I had the chefs selection 6 omnivore and it has a lot of subtle & mostly sour and vibrant flavours. If u don't like spicy then tell them to put less Chili oil in the tuna tartare.

My friend brought me here for a belated birthday dinner, and I was impressed with the service and beautiful ambiance. We got the crispy rice app, which was incredible and shared the burger (good, but not great) and the seafood pasta that was on the menu (which was just ok). I got the rhubarb tart for dessert (pure heaven) and loved their martini's. If I return in the future, I'll likely stick to just that app, drinks and dessert.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance was elegant, service was excellent.
Came for a birthday dinner ordered the rib eye for two and the diver scallops as entrees. Cooked perfectly and delicious. Appetizers we had the fried calamari, crispy sushi, and tuna tartare. Plentiful and nicely presented. Much older crowd, not much a vibe but food was excellent. Cucumber martinis and expresso martini chilled right. Bathroom was DARK need to turn up the lights. Overall nice place, NYC prices and the view of Central Park amazing!
