Up marker wine bar
A popular restaurant in a traditional London street. The ambiance is good but very noisy. Good selection of wines and an interesting menu. Certainly the Comte Tart is well worth trying as a starter. I also had duck as a main. Unfortunately the skin was not crispy although the breast meat was perfectly cooked. A 3 course meal with wine came to ยฃ120 each which is expensive even by London standards. It was an enjoyable evening and I shall return. The staff are friendly and polite but it took well over 30 minutes from first trying to obtain the bill to actually paying. Yes the place was busy but all the staff had that blinkered view of purposely just looking straight ahead all the time and not scanning any customers beckoning for service. This is unacceptable in such a high class restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming!
This was our first time in this restaurant and we were underwhelmed. Wine was extremely overpriced even by London standards for a casual restaurant and the largest size per glass was only a 125ml unless you had a bottle . The food was average and the portions were small. The wait person was less than friendly and had an air of superiority about him. With so many other options in London, we will not return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
It was our first visit as we had a voucher as a gift from the family for my birthday. We went for lunch which was first class, we shared a few starters as the portions were generous. The house wines were great in both quality and value. we were given some madeleines as an extra birthday treat and they were lovely. We will certainly return.

Third trip in 2024. Attentive staff, great venue and excellent food. On the last trip tried the crab starter, quail with romesco sauce and the basque chesse cake. All three were excellent.

My partner and I always go to the SOHO restaurant but on this occasion we were in Holborn. I am writing this separate review simply because this place rescued us from utter misery. Our train was delayed and we spent 8 hours struggling to get into London on the hottest day of the year. We were going to be late for our reservation. We called and they were so understanding and held our table. Eventually we arrived around 930pm. We were so well taken care of by sympathetic staff and the meal and wine was all the more divine for being almost lost. We were revived. Thank you Noble Rot.
Be the first to ReplyOn the whole very good
Extended family of 7 (adults) had an evening birthday meal here. Thought food was a mixed bag. Comte beignets were excellent. Selection of starters had some hits and some misses. Mains were good. I had beef which was very good. My London based adult children thought it was expensive for what is was so I am guided by them in this respect. Atmosphere good and staff all excellent.

Noble Rot in Lamb's Conduit Street has been one of my "must go to" places on all my London visits over the last several years. I belive I now must have been there 8-10 times, for lunches and dinners. My latest visit was in January 2024, when getting the same table that I always request when I book, made it feel almost like I was coming home. A pleasant surprise was to also get one of my favourite waiters, who is a true gem when it comes to service and presentation of food and wines. The high quality of the kitchen, the brilliant service, and โ not least โ the exceptional selection of wines, is what makes this restaurant a place I have to get back to for a lunch or dinner whenever I have the opportunity. There is not a big selection of choices on the menu. For lunch they serve a set three course menu (you can choose to have only 2 courses). In the evening the menu is also not very large, but what you can choose among is varied and all very well prepared. If you let your waiter suggest matching wines you can be in for an exceptional treat. Since there always are exceptional open wines available, you can have truly magnificent wines matching every dish, even if you dine alone and find it impossible to buy a whole bottle. The more expensive wines are also offered in half glasses, if you just want to have a small taste. Thus, I could drink a glass of 2020 Lamy-Caillat Saint-Aubin en l'Ebaupin with my Cornish Brill (a fish not often seen on restaurant menus) at my last visit. A heavenly wine that went more than superbly with the exceptional fish dish. For what you get, Noble Rot is a very decently priced restaurant. "Budget gourmet" would be a good label. A wonderful choice if you want informal eating, but still want to enjoy great food and wines. The only down side to this restaurant might be the noise level, which can be pretty heavy at times, but look at it as an effect of the guests enjoying themselves, as I am sure you will too.
Be the first to ReplySmall intimate perfection
We stumbled upon this perfect find after noticing the other pubs close by were full and we couldnโt have been happier! Great food and wonderful staff in an intimate atmosphere. Will def go back!!
Be the first to ReplyVegetarian waste of time
Vegetarian option main course; lukewarm almost cold lentils with three over-cooked cold broccoli stems and three thin slices of cold grilled onion. Ridiculous.
Be the first to ReplySmart but unpretentious with good food and drinks!
Very good food - one of those places you can pretty much pick anything and be happy. Highlights include mushroom pasta (even sans truffle!) and the citrus (duck?) heart salad. Bustling on a weekend but efficient staff (table next to us had a delay but this was handled smoothly) and they'll get someone over to talk to you about their wines, great way to get to know new varietals and have a fun time in a cosy space (love the inky walls and ceilings) - perfect winter escape. I'll be making excuses to return!
Be the first to ReplyFood Disappointing
Wine superb but food disappointing so something's changed in the kitchen. ยฃ34 for three thin fatty overcooked bland slices of supposed best lamb rump with tasteless butter beans. This mediocre food will not produce repeat custom.
Be the first to ReplyUtterly delicious
We had a Wednesday set lunch with the suggested Greek wine with the main. The beef shin with swede was absolutely delicious. I have no idea how they made swede taste so wonderful and the beef was out of this world. I havenโt had such a great meal in a long time. The wine was fabulous and the rice pudding with rhubarb jam great. Even the coffee was special. Our water was really charming and very efficient. We are definitely going back.
Be the first to ReplyGood wine and service, food disappointing
The welcome, service and wines were excellent but the food was average and I have to say over priced. Iโve read other reviews that highlight the cheeseboard is just 3 chunks of cheese and dry crackers and thatโs what it was.
Be the first to ReplyDo not book this place
I was ill so couldnโt make my booking, I tried to call them 4 hours before to cancel. Couldnโt get through, left a voicemail. Was called by the restaurant and told that they simply HAD to charge me ยฃ50 per person for the cancellation.
Be the first to ReplyWhy canโt you order taxis?
The wine bar was lovely as were the servers. One woman was very kind and let me use the staff toilet as the toilets were downstairs and I donโt do stairs. The only disappointing thing was when I paid I asked them to order a taxi and he said they didnโt do that. He told me to go outside and a taxi would come along shortly. I did this but a taxi didnโt show. I walked for quite some time before I got a taxi and I really wasnโt able. Canโt you order a taxi from a wine bar in London? Iโm disabled and shouldnโt be on my own walking the streets at night. They should be more helpful

Great food and good atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good wine list. Highly recommended. Ate very good crumble as a dessert.
Be the first to ReplyWorth all the fuss ?
Came to see what all the fuss was about with this place and apart from a well priced wine list would not write home about the food.
Be the first to ReplyMore than the wine
I have all ready thanked the friend who recommended here. The scene is set as soon as the heavy curtain sheltering the diners is parted: the room is small and quaint in a studied and unpretentious old fashioned way. The menu is short and most helpfully explained by the attentive staff. We started by nibbling a Compte beignet. I followed this with rabbit terrine and seasonal roast goose and apple sauce. Finishing with the Armagnac baba. All delicious. The wine list is extensive and has lots of unfamiliar names- donโt panic, just ask and the staff are happy to share their knowledge with enthusiasm and obvious pride. For atmosphere, food, service and wine try to dine here- not inexpensive but you will leave happy. Is on my list for my next trip to London.

Got us a table at very short notice after other plans fell through (my fault). Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, delicious food and incredible wine, served and described with passion. Special shout out to Terri at the Soho branch for arranging. 10/10.
Be the first to ReplyTHE place to eat in London
From the moment you walk in and are greeted by a charming woman and accompanied to your reservation you feel this place is a fabulous choice and it is. My monkfish was cooked to perfection and my friend adored her pasta and mushrooms. Impeccable service all round and extensive selection of wines.
Be the first to ReplyCool and delicious lunch
We were delighted to find a good place for Monday lunch, as so many restaurants are closed on Mondays. We four old friends booked for lunch at Noble Rot, Lambs Conduit Street. We were welcomed and offered a choice of eating outside or indoors. It was hot weather outdoors so we opted to eat indoors, where it felt cooler and comfortable. We chose a mixture of the set lunch and other dishes, a bottle of the house white, and coffees, and it was all delicious. Two of us enjoyed vegetarian (not vegan) starters, and they were helpful about our food tastes, and aware of food allergies, although Noble Rot is probably best for omnivores or flexitarians, who are not in a hurry. Good food, good choice of wine by the glass or bottle, friendly and helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere. We recommend Noble Rot to others.
Be the first to ReplyJust plain great cooking.
We came here for a graduation dinner on a very busy Thursday - no matter, this is London after all. We were here only for the dinner, and what a dinner it was. The starters were all excellent - clams in white wine and sea purslane, buratta with peaches, and herb terrine. It would be touch to choose which was the best. Then, there was lamb with courgette gratin, and poached cod with soft potatoes and beans with aioli. On the surface, there's nothing majorly complicated about the food here, but the technique and flavour combinations are the stars of the show here. One of our party doesn't drink wine...whcih leaves things a bit bare here given the emphasis on their wine list. If you *do* happen to be interested in wine however, then you only have more reason to visit here to wonder at the wine list and somehow then make your pick. All in all, a lovely experiance, and we will be delighted to return soon.
Be the first to ReplyI don't often spend this much and think "Bargain!"
We just had drinks and snacks in the bar. The beer was astonishingly grapefruity, the wines were delicious, the cheeses were outstanding, the bread was a revelation, the olives were delectable and the staff were delightful. Reader, I could have revealed more but we only got the table on condition we pushed off relatively sharpish. So unfortunately, we did!
Be the first to ReplyUnwell after eating at this restaurant
I ate here in March 2022 and was unwell the following day. The person I ate with was also unwell with the same symptoms. I assume it was the rock oysters. I informed the restaurant and an investigation was carried out and found no concerns with the restaurant's food policies. I was not offered a refund or partial refund and needless to say, will not be returning.
