My girlfriend and I really love food and fine dinging. During our holiday in Japan we had very different dining experiences, this being one of the most special ones.
If you are in to beef, this one is really special! You can choose between different options for you main course, the rest is a set menu.
In terms of taste every dish we had was amazing (apart from the desert). Yes the restaurant is really expensive, but this is because they only work with the best ingredients. That also being really expensive ingredients the prices is in line with that. For main dish we had the most amazing Kobe beef (maximum quality and cooked to perfection). Another dish worth mentioning was a rice dish. A bowl with rice on the bottom, on top of that some kobe beef, uni (sea urchin), caviar, slow cooked egg yoke in soy sauce and topped of with loads of truffle. This dish was absolutely amazing!
Some of the employees in the restaurant speak some English, including the chef, and the really did there utmost best to explain everything that needed explanation. When a dish came, the chef told us how to eat it and explained what the dish entailed.
The only thing that was not amazing, was the desert, we found that more often in Japan, that the desert is not at the same standard compared to great restaurants in e.g. Europe.
What we really like was to have a counter seat, you can see the amazing knife skills of the chef and can really see how all food is prepared. In addition the Japanese are really friendly, we had some nice conversations with people at the counter that sat next to us.
