I go here pretty often, usually on a Monday for half price oysters but have dinner as well. This past Monday was delicious as always and the real treat came with the chicken Cordon Bleu, we wanted one more dish because everything was so delicious and the chef suggested this and it was amazing! Staff is great and it's such a well run operation and well not an expensive it's definitely worth every penny:-)
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at Nico's last night.
A spontaneous impulse when driving by to another spot. Four of us were seated immediately in the middle of the dining room. We got caught up in the menu and the vibe so sorry no pictures. Monday is $2 oyster night which was a nice surprise. Fire Roasted Halibut was perfectly prepared, light and flaky with a bit of oven sear. The beurre rouge was amazing. Two of us had the lobster roll - the toasted brioche was a wonderful surpirse in place of the standard hot dog bun. It was packed with lobster. The camembert fondue in place of the normal drawn butter - right up there with the beurre rouge - fantastic. Lastly, the Burgundy Sea Scallops were good but the lobster roll and halibut were the stars. I didn't mention presentation - the oysters and other decorative shells on the ice, two eyedroppers to add lemon and spice if wanted. Beautiful.

(M/F 27yo/28yo) We heard so many things about the oysters here and we understand why! We made a reservation last minute a week out and snagged a last effort time slot for a Saturday night at 845pm. We arrived early, went across the street for a drink and we're called back to be seated at 830pm. The decor is spot on with the theme and vibe. It was all so beautiful with greenery and salted wood. Huge fan right off the bat. While looking over the menu and beginning to order, our waitress informed us that the kitchen requests we put all the order in at the same time and our meal will be served in courses as the chef sees to how it is enjoyed and consumed. We LOVED that. Definitely see the French aspect of the restaurant. And the appeal of that. We sat in the patio portion and got to feel the open air. We were very impressed with what Nico had to offer. Though she may look smaller on the outside, she is fierce!
Be the first to ReplyNew fave is the mushrooms side and the Parisian gnocchi.
The creme brûlée was delish.

Full disclosure that we only went as a lark after many years as fans of Southern Charm and Naomie (related to an owner I think?) on a Bravo. We were in town for a few days from New England, and our expectations were limited, but we are so glad we went! All of the oysters were spectacular--cooked and raw bar. Great service, great wine list, and omg--the gratin potatoes?! They are just a side but goodness! Delicious. We would for sure go back!

Absolutely amazing service! The timing was superb and really fast, yet our server Paul knew how to make it all set up. Had oysters raw and also the hot Provençal with herb butter. The baguette dipped in the butter below the oysters was perfect. Tuna was also good. Duck confit was great flavor but could have had crispier skin. Chicken cordon bleu was terrific, especially the plating. Scallops we're good, fresh fun sauce and mixed cuisine flavors with the pickled onions. Finished with creme brûlée and baked Alaska. I mean what a treat, get the baked Alaska!

First timer, didn't make a reservation but didn't realize they also take reservations for their bar seats. Staff was so friendly and got us seats! Our bartender was so lovely and he was very knowledgeable. Sis and I split oysters and the Nico cheeseburger. The presentation of the oysters was gorgeous and different from any other. We loved the burger, which is smash style. Spicy Paloma was perfect. We'll be going back especially for their happy hour.

This was really a great spot! Oysters were delicious and half priced on Monday. Great selection of beers and cocktails. We ate like straight up pigs for a week in Charleston and this was one of our favorite spots!

Been meaning to check out Nico for a long time and finally had a chance during the week on a day off from work! You can make a reservation via Resy with options at the bar, indoor seating, or outdoor patio. There's plenty of parking around the area in case you can't snag a spot in their parking lot - just be mindful of towing zones or signs with instructions. The bar area felt roomy and there's even those nifty hooks to hang your bag which is most helpful. Jackie and Chris took care of me for this experience and they were super knowledgeable and friendly! It was Bastille Day so there was a unique menu suggested, I liked that they had that as an option to try something different. For me I was on a mission to try baked Alaska for the first time ever so chose accordingly. Each day of the week there's a unique happy hour special - for Thursday it was half off a bottle of wine (you can take it home if you can't finish it) but I was perfectly content with their $5 white wine blend which tasted nice n' crisp. I tried their tomato salad (fromage frais, radish, tomato lemon curd, peaches, mint vinaigrette) which is a delight for tomato lovers plus the curd was a fun texture to mix around the tomatoes in. The baked cheese (almond pistou, fruit, honey, baguette) was as oozing and savory as it sounds - I liked dipping the bread between the cheese and the remnants of the lemon curd. Cheese craving satisfied. For the final event, the baked Alaska was a sweet finish! The crispy meringue top and creamy ice cream made this treat a must for summer time. Overall would love to come out again. The music was nice, staff is friendly, and the food flavorful. Keep up the great work!

Very interesting menu items with slight twists on favorites--like fries with Camembert fondue!! I myself had 22 fantastic oysters, choosing from this fresh local and that fresh brought-in...we were there on half-off-oysters-day! Several days have specials, so check their menu! Interesting cocktails with fashionable elements like "espresso vodka" and "honey-rosemary simple syrup" (not in the same drink!), and solid wines of each color, about a dozen each.Other reviewers can fill you in with more, BUT, I wanted to applaud above-and-beyond customer service. I left a beloved hat behind, and to sum up, when I called, not only had they found it, but they kept it safe for me for WEEKS, as I arranged to have it mailed back. They kept in great touch--Jordan even left me a VM letting me know the day they mailed it back. As an obvious tourist who lives 2500 miles away, I was impressed and grateful that I was treated like a valued regular. Thanks Nico peeps!

Such a pleasant experience. Great outdoor sitting, with a great breeze.

Best oysters ever! Loved all parts of my meal but only remembered to take a picture of the oysters. Also loved the escargot and cheeseburger.

Traffic and parking in the area is a nightmare and If you are hungry better be prepared to wait, even if it's at the bar! Nothing notable as far as the food or the service (very small portions at high prices) and have had better oysters elsewhere. Most likely won't be back it's not worth the hassle.

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary with the best food, and we are so happy that we picked Nico! We live in Meggett, so it was a drive for us, but we'll worth it.We were greeted with champagne for our special day, which was a nice surprise. Our server was professional and kind, and told us all about everything and then some.We started with oysters and scallop ceviche. I love the oysters I picked and experiencing different flavors from the northeast, midatlantic and the good ole lowcountry. The ceviche was delicious, although the bitter grapefruit was a little bit of a surprise. All components eaten together worked very well, however. My husband opted for trout almondine with a side of ratatouille. He loved it, but wasn't used to a ratatouille without eggplant. I had the bouillabaise and was not disappointed. I am super picky about bouillabaise, as I was part of a French family for many years where the recipe was made from scratch for special occasions, and it was a true southern France delight. Nico's recipe is spot on. Perfect flavor, perfectly cooked seafood. I would have only preferred more bread and no potatoes, but I ate it all and loved every bite and slurp! We are so happy we finally made it over to Nico. My husband is a chef, and was truly impressed, as was I. We will definitely be back to try more! Thank you for a wonderful experience start to finish! Oh, I cannot forget - great wine and beer selections!
Be the first to ReplyThe reviews were stellar, so I made a reservation 2 weeks
The reviews were stellar, so I made a reservation 2 weeks prior for an early dinner @ 5pm on Thursday afternoon/early evening. I received multiple texts about my reservation, arrival, parking, etc. As a preface, I live in a major metropolitan area (Dallas, TX), and am well traveled and have dined at many fine dining establishments around the world. When I arrived, @ 4:45pm, I was seated immediately & did receive attentive, yet hurried, service, despite the fact I was one of the very FEW people in an almost EMPTY restaurant! When I left, there were no more than 20 people in the entire place - outside & inside! Yet I was rushed to finish my food & get out. The food was good, but not great. The experience of eating in what appeared to be an old "Pizza Hut" and being rushed for an unknown reason, was unsatisfactory. Fine dining is an experience to be savored. This establishment seems to be more of a "fast food" experience. Hint: Nico - just put in a " drive-thru" window
Be the first to ReplyWe had the sweetest waitress from College of Charleston.
She recommended certain dishes since we were not familiar with the menu, and was incredibly helpful. Food was so much better than I expected, and i'd love to come back!
Be the first to ReplyExtremely delicious food, great service, great atmosphere.
Overall, a home run and a great place to bring someone for a nice dinner in Charleston! The food: We shared some oysters, ordered the lobster roll, bouillabaisse, and Parisian gnocchi, and finished the night with the molten chocolate cake dessert. The oysters tasted really fresh and were absolutely delicious. All our entrees were flavorful and a good portion size. The dessert really stole the show for us- that decadent warm chocolate brownie cake with a massive ball of rich chocolate ice cream was a chocolate lovers dream. I'd come back and eat that as my dinner. The food was excellent. The service: I made a reservation for 6pm and they showed me to my table which was already set and had menus ten minutes early. I love that. The hostess was really nice and made validating parking really easy. Our waiter was very friendly, made good recommendations, and came back to fill our waters frequently. He was great as well. The atmosphere- The patio is really nice because it has heating and curtains to block the wind as well as lots of natural light. I never stopped inside the actual restaurant but it was a nice and clean place overall. Not too loud, a couple families, mostly just adults though. Definitely a good scene to take someone out for dinner or bring your family to if they're in town. Overall, an excellent experience and I'm really glad I tried this restaurant. I will most definitely be back and recommend this to all my friends.
Be the first to ReplyFrench inspired seafood spot with good food.
Rude host but otherwise food is good. Good selection of oysters. Poached eggs are exceptional. Ceviche above average. Good ambiance but parking can be difficult. Will return for the food but the hostess needs a lesson in customer service.
Be the first to ReplySmall portions and long waits.
Stingy with bread. I hope we caught them on an off night but I don't plan on going back to see if that's the case
Be the first to ReplyService and food exceptional.
From reservation to check in to wait staff - simply some of the best service we have had in years. The food and wine wonderful. Incredible selection of fresh oysters. Amazing calamari perfectly prepared. Dinners highlighted by one of best filets anywhere - sous vie then wood oven roasted. Bouillabaisse was exceptional - something I try around the world, and the flavors here were perfectly balanced (ask for additional bread to enjoy all of the broth). Scallops perfect. Dessert generous and delicious. Exceeded expectations. See my pictures!
