Nice dining experience
We enjoyed this restaurant. The decor was great- the front of the house is vintage decor and the back is veranda/garden style. Lots of fun and kitschy items to catch the eye and the site itself has a history of occupants. They offer local brews and a nice menu with good prices. We enjoyed a handcrafted burger and a corned beef Rueben- both very good. The side of fries portion was too small, but they were good. It seems to a spot for locals, but we didn’t experience any snootiness as noted. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. Loved the tin ceiling and the great back bar. (Note to management- clean the mirror, it looks bad)

Good food. Check. Reasonable. Check. Good choices. Check. Friendly staff. Check. Good service. Check. Atmosphere. Three rooms, all dripping with charm. I particularly liked the middle room, a 1940s pub feel. Three of us all had different things and shared two starters. Everything was top quality pub food. All of us really enjoyed the place and one of the three is Mr. Fussy Pants which speaks volumes.
Be the first to ReplyNice place for lunch, breakfast not so much.
I was in the mood for breakfast after being turned away at our hotel restaurant closing breakfast an hour early. I ordered bacon and eggs with toast from the side items. The bacon was burnt and the eggs were cold. The server put in another order of eggs that arrived warm but under cooked. They charged me $2.00 for an "order adjustment fee". Just not my day for breakfast I suppose. My wife had a BLT that used the same overcooked bacon. We have dined here several times and is one of our favorites when visiting Cincinnati. Every one has an off day and I will not let this stop me from returning.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch. When we went in the hostess said their servers were very busy, and that we could have a seat at the bar while we wait for a table. The bartender didn’t even acknowledge us, but when two of his friends came in he acted like they were celebrities; chatting them up, shaking their hand, laughing, etc. He stood there, yammering with them, like we weren’t even there. After sitting there for about 15 minutes a group of four came in, and the same hostess whisked them right to a table. She put them at a table for four, so I get it. Whatever. About 10 minutes later the bartender’s friends left, and THEN he decides to ask us if we wanted anything. We said no, hoping we would have a table soon. About another five minutes went by and another couple walked in the door. The same hostess looked right at us, grabbed two menus and showed the couple to a table. She totally blew us off. My wife is normally a go-with-the-flow person, but even she had had enough. So we left. We walked a few blocks down the street to El Barril and had an excellent meal, and the people were as friendly as could be….no uppity attitude at all. Screw this place and their snobby, nose-in-the-air attitude. They can keep kissing the backsides of locals and we’ll keep our money.

This evening we had burgers and the French Onion Chicken sandwich which were all excellent. Fries were crispy and very good. Service was quick and attentive. We used the parking ramp just up the street for $5, as we couldn't find a nearby on-street parallel spot to park in.. Once in the restaurant, a good time and food was enjoyed by all.

History, ambience, and great service. My classic hamburger was made perfectly and my mango Fizz was delicious. So glad we stoped here in my first visit to Cincinnati!

My husband's cousin and wife selected this restaurant because it was around the corner from their AirBNB. I had been here with a friend for lunch years before and remembered we'd enjoyed it. But, tonight, I was quite disappointed that my salmon was dry. No one else complained but I'm not in any hurry to return except for drinks.

On our last full day in Cincinnati, my wife and I were driving northeast of downtown. My wife’s cousin recommended we see the historic Mount Adams neighborhood. Because we arrived at lunchtime, we decided to stop in for lunch. My first impression was that this bar and grill was definitely a locals place. The walls were filled with signed celebrity headshots, but I didn’t know who half of them were. From our booth, I read this site was originally a grocery store in 1923. Anyway, for lunch, I had the turkey sandwich, my wife had the vegetable soup (one of the soup’s of the day), and shared a slice of pecan pie. All were fine. After lunch, we paid a visit to the nearby Holy Cross Immaculata and finally enjoyed the city views from high above.

Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great service, great decor, great location
Went here on a wild hair after literally picking a pin off a map and randomly selecting this restaurant. Visited with family who had come in from out of state for the Thanksgiving holidays. This was my first ever visit and I was impressed. Went for lunch and the lunch menu was impressive in its selection. There were lots of healthy choices and lots of decadent choices, there were even really awesome dessert choices with lunch which was unexpected. The drinks menu was extensive and thoughtfully put together. There’s something here for everyone. Plus the decor is just truly enchanting. I had a good 10 minutes of silence but we were just looking around and taking it all in. There’s a bar for those who exclusively want to imbibe and there is more restaurant and family style seating for those who do not. I absolutely plan on going here again and I’m so glad that this was the pin that I picked to select from my map. I had a tofu burger which was delicious, tofu is actually one of my favorite foods and this was wonderful. Plus the service was really friendly, and funny. The waitress was sarcastic in a wonderful way. I’m a major smart mouth so this went over very well with me. My sister has an extremely restricted diet with multiple disabilities and dietary restrictions and they were able to accommodate us without complaint and very well and without charging us a lot more money. Even with celiac and krohn’s on a gluten free bland diet. We had a wonderful time here as a family and definitely plan on returning. Delicious food great service great atmosphere great decor great location great neighborhood.

We got lunch here during a couple of days in Cincy, and it was impressive. The building has a history, and it's beautiful enough that I'd want to be there just for the decor. The front bar allegedly came from a bootlegger's speakeasy. We were seated in the rear dining room, where there's a cvut-glass window that would be at home in the nearby art museum. Now, pair that with the other points of distinction. I had a Rhinegeist Truth IPA, which is a local brewery, and the slightly fruity taste set off my food ideally. That food was their sandwich "The Broadcaster", which they list under "burgers" but it's not on a bun--it's a quarter-pound patty topped with grilled onions and sliced olives, finished between 2 slicers of Swiss and 2 of Jewish rye. The olives lent a distinctly original flavor, and I suspct the bread came from the local Klosterman's b akery and the chips were Husman's--so it was a lot of authentic Cincinnati on my table. My wife reported that her Reuben sandwich was OK--she's got really high standards for a Reuben. Add to all of that a flawless level of service. and you have a fine lunch location.

We were visiting the area and decided to to Mt Adams. We stopped here for dinner and loved it. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and the place has a cool atmosphere. We ate in the front which looks like an early 1900s pub but checked out the club house area in the back which was lovely. Highly recommend coming here while visiting the resurging Mt Adams area.
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favorite spots in Cincinnati!
We’ve been going to Mt Adams Bar & Grill for decades. Amazing what comes out of their small kitchen. The food is great. Great fish options. Delicious soups. Tasty sandwiches - including burgers and the best veggie burger around. This will sound funny - but their pickles served on the side are great. Of course beers and drinks and Apps are great. There are three distinct spaces... I like the sun porch in the back. Great place for a work group or just lunch or dinner for two. My wife and I once wooed a CEO for a non profit and his wife to relocate their life to Cincinnati over a relaxing and casual dinner at Mt Adams Bar & Grill! Super local. Love this place!
