The restaurant was very good, perfect for the day.
I had thon rouge with melon jambon to start. Pampelonne beach is clean and sandy and we rented loungers for the day. Loungers were good but not cushioned.Visiting from California it may have been too much to expect clean air but the mattresses in front of us were a smokestack, especially the gentleman with his hour-long cigar. With onshore winds the smoke covered the area. Even though the staff said the smoking was not acceptable as we explained why we were leaving early, they also suggested it was our fault for not asking their clients to stop. My advice to Moorea is to be more proactive. Trust me, it did not just affect us. Even at home in a familiar culture where smoking is less accepted it is not pleasant to ask folks to move their smoking. The staff is plenty proactive on other fronts (moving umbrellas, offering drinks, asking for payment) so this is not much to ask. The staff member who took our payment even noticed the smoke but didn't do anything.

They don't do the Rose de la Moorea anymore (stopped about 10 years ago) which is a shame, as it was an amazing onion dish. But for quality of food, service, location .. albeit at a price ... it's hard to beat. We had the cold artichoke starter, which was amazing with a vinaigrette dip, and the steak tartar was beautifully done. My wife and son had the mixture of seafood, can't recall the name but it's simply a mix of shellfish done in garlic, butter and parsley - huge portion, unlike many French restaurants, so could easily share between two people. And when you finish lunch? Make sure you've booked a lounger and umbrella and claimed it before 1pm, then sit on the beach, cool off in the aquamarine waters, and watch the beautiful people walk by. Heaven.
Be the first to ReplyOn vacation this week we went to a few of the beach bars.
This by far was the best to us. It was still slow time of year but the staff is amazing and will work hard for you. Food was great as well. We did find everything in St Tropez to be pricy but at the same time it was great service and food everywhere. I don't know his name but would like to give a big thanks to the main bartender as he went above and beyond. I will be back.

It is a nice place to seat and to enjoy a lunch. It is lovely arranged. The food is good - but not the best food you find at the Pampelonne. The artichoke was overcooked, the vinaigrette had to much vinegar. The tartar of salmon and tuna was to spicy and extremely over-flavoured. So you didn't had the taste of the fish. Several dishes like the spring rolls with chicken and the tempura was great. The service brought the wrong sushi dish. After demand, no reaction or sorry - we had to eat what we get. After lunch we asked for the bill. And we were there just for lunch - why we had to pay for sun lounger and parasols was a miracle. We received no sorry- nothing rather we hat the feeling, that we had made the mistake. So nice place, nice view, food was ok - but you find more exiting places at Pampelonne!
