I just love seafood
I just love seafood and MIMI Chinese's Scallion & Ginger Scallop dish was absolutely amazing. The scallops were so tender, and the addition of scallion and ginger really took them to another level. Overall, it was such a delightful experience that I won't soon forget.

The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the cuisine, providing helpful recommendations. The restaurant's modern and stylish decor adds to the overall dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyService was impeccable and super attentive
I was visiting Toronto and staying with a few friends who wouldn't stop talking about MIMI. We were lucky to snag a last minute reservation and let me tell you I was blown away. I almost thought about gate keeping the shrimp toast but it changed my life. Service was impeccable and super attentive. Cannot say enough good things about this place.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely mind blown
Absolutely mind blown. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food is exceptional. The rice rolls are heaven sent.
Be the first to ReplyExceeded my expectations
Exceeded my expectations! The food was exceptional - each dish bursting with authentic flavours. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a delicious Chinese meal in Toronto.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Chinese Dinning
Great dining experience - food and service was excellent. Really liked the decor and friendly ambience.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing meal, 10/10 recommend
My friends and I weren’t sure what to expect when we heard about a high end. Chinese restaurant, since we mostly eat at low key authentic Chinese restaurants in Markham, Scarborough and Chinatown. This was one of the best meals we had all year dining out together. Food was beyond expectation, service was attentive and friendly and restaurant vibe in general was a lot of fun. We also loved the music!
Be the first to ReplyIt Once Was Great...
We had dinner at MIMI Chinese in April - It was a life changing, super culinary experience. The tasting menu was stupendous. Lived up to the hype. The chefs in the open kitchen were engaging and we raved about our experience. We returned, enthusiastic with friends in late June and the change was astounding. The dishes we loved were replaced by bland, mediocre substitutes. Prices remained exorbitant. Terrible disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyFood was too salty
This place has gone downhill food-wise. The selections are all extremely over salted. Beware if you have a heart condition, under high blood pressure medication or have hypertension. The service was good and the chef took back the saltiest selections but we cannot recommend the restaurant for food.
Be the first to ReplyNot a Memorable Experience
Good but not spectacular! It was hit and miss with regards to the dishes we shared. Because it has more of a darker atmosphere, my wife discreetly, and I mean discreetly, used her phone to better see the menu. She was immediately and sternly told to put the phone away leaving it up to me to help her along. I have no problem spending what we did, but would have expected to be treated accordingly.
Be the first to ReplyGreat for a date night
We went with another couple. Vibe is excellent. Love the soundtrack they use and wish I could have it. Most staff were outstanding. Shout out to Se Young - I think that is her name and my apologies for not being able to spell it. Our waiter must have been tired or just ready to go home. He basically told us to have the tasting menu which we were not into and at $120 per person we would be hitting $1,000 with booze. When I asked for recommendations he didn't really enthuse much about anything, said it came from a couple regions. No explanation on wha we must have so we fended for ourselves. we ordered two very similar dishes and it would have been nice if he suggested not to have two of the same and suggest something instead but nope. didn't care. So that was lacklustre and a bit of a disappointment. Other than that food was good. vibe is great. and we managed to get a parking spot close by. Would I go back? probably not. Wasn't that over the top. Well we actually said we would go back for some take out only shrimp toast.
Be the first to ReplyNoise, noise
So noisy you can’t possibly enjoy your food, no valet parking and hardly any parking around, wine list is poor and way too pricey, but in the end all I remember is noise
Be the first to ReplyNever again!
Sadly underwhelming for Toronto. Mediocre food with some hits and misses on the tasting menu. It's difficult to share food fairly and evenly among a group of 4 people since the servers don't serve you (as in most upscale Chinese restaurants). The bill adds up quickly. Four hundred per couple is outrageous for what you actually experience!
Be the first to ReplyToo loud
The service is impeccable and the food generally quite good as it should be for the elevated prices that are charged. Is the food outstanding? No. Just very good. The restaurant is also quite dark (cell phone flashlight is required to read the menu) and most unfortunately pumps out aggravating music at a disproportionately high level which negates having any kind of conversation without shouting and also my wanting to return.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming, especially considering the expense
Mimi Chinese presents itself as an upscale restaurant with prices to match, so we had high expectations. Our dining experience started off on a sour note, as our table wasn't free yet. People are seated at the bar to eat, so there's no space to wait, and we spent 20 minutes on the sidewalk on a chilly evening. We had to make do with a timid "sorry." We started off with cocktails, both of which were good, as was our starter of yellowtail crudo. However, all mains (we shared 4 dishes) lacked refinement and were either very spicy without any other subtle flavours (the Hunan sea bass), or very heavy on soy sauce flavours (the fried rice rolls). While not bad per se, to be frank, we get this kind of food at local Chinese restaurants for about a third of cost. It seems like what you pay for here is a more lounge-like decor and service. We left without dessert and are sorry to say we wouldn't return nor recommend Mimi Chinese.
Be the first to ReplyCreative, gourmet Chinese!
Upscale Chinese. Mixing western service and true Chinese cooking techniques. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical when I booked it…but after trying the food here, I have to count myself a fan! A mix of Szechuan and Guangzhou cuisine - beautifully done. The char siu (roast sweet Chinese pork) was tender and flavorful. The seafood rice had great “wok heat”. Loved the dessert. The mai lai (egg) cake with condensed milk was exceptional. Reminded me of the fresh cake sold on the streets of Hong Kong. Service was great. Cocktails were tasty and fun (especially the panda drink served in a panda mug). Would come again!
Be the first to ReplyMY,OH,MY MIMI !
Unbelievable restaurant. When you first walk in your first reaction is its dark and noisy, by some miracle by the time you are seated those feeling have disappeared. Can't fault a thing here, the service was prompt, Sharpe and very professional. The dining room has a great vibe and let's you settle into what will be a excellent dining experience. we had. Smoked Cucumber salad,Yellowtail,Crossed Armed Dumplings,Stuffed Chicken wings[amazing!]Black Pepper beef,Four foot Belt Noodle and other dishes, all wonderful. Great job MIMI!
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and fantastic food
Lots of servers without being intrusive but very attentive. They also served wonderful dishes like the yellowtail, dumpling in red oil, duck wraps, char siu and A-choy were all fantastic as was the rice roll. The hidden chicken had a strange after-taste that would make it a non-starter for future visits. It was the only disappointment along with the tasty but rather small martinis. Probably the most expensive chinese restaurant I have been to but the food was great.
Be the first to Replydecent but not great
I have to say, after much anticipation, the food was not nearly as special as I was lead to believe it would be. There's an extensive waiting list for this restaurant but I think it's only because there are very few high end restaurants like this downtown. The food was tasty and beautifully presented but smallish portions and very few vegetarian options. Excellent, attentive service but super loud and could barely read the menu - poor design paired with dim lighting. Really the best part were the desserts which were big enough for 4 people and absolutely delicious.
Be the first to Replyoutstanding service in this chic eatery
It is the elegant yet friendly service that makes this a great place for high end Chinese dining. From the hostess to servers to buspeople, everyone is so attentive. I dare you to drop a chopstick and not have a fresh pair appear like magic. We loved everything but the rice roll is outstanding and the long noodle a classic. Every dish was delicious and served with care. Servings are more generous than they say, we shared 5 dishes among 3 people and had more than enough.
Be the first to ReplyWorth the Hype!!
Sometimes when a restaurant is so hyped you find yourself very disappointed. Definitely not the case this time. Mimi Chinese did not disappoint. Not only is the restaurant absolutely stunning but every single dish and every single bite of everything we had was absolutely delicious. And the service was top notch!
Be the first to ReplyHigh end Chinese in a great venue
An absolutely fantastic restaurant with a stunning interior, great service, wicked drinks and the best of high end super glam Chinese food. Each province is represented. Do not miss 4’ noodles and pork belly. The presentation is so cool. This place is somewhere you can dress up if you like and make it a high end night. Have a blast.

Imagine Sunny's in a stellar room ...
After far too much take-out it was time to dine-in. For the first time in 19 months. Not sure we could've picked a better joint.
Reservation in advance, a little early for the VAX check and we're seated, no issues. Still Water to start please and we had a look at the modest menu. So many tempting choices!
Our Server was top class, patiently answering all our questions with knowledge and humour and generosity. We settled on a little of (almost) everything in the Chef's Choice menu. And no disappointments there in the least.
Big call-outs for Shrimp Toast, Scallion+Ginger Scallop, Crossed-Arm Dumplings, Char Sui and the Sea Bream. Cracking through the flattened Fortune Cookie to reach the Black Rice Sundae was an fine finishing event.
Presentation - for everything - was brilliant, timing perfect, service attentive and kind.
For Sake lovers, a raft of choices but we stayed away.
- 1 star for noise. VERY noisy place. Don't need "steakhouse silent" but I'd like to be able to speak with my guests without shouting. Impossible at MIMI.
MIMI offers a great customer experience in Chinese food dining like no other.
The menu features a selection of dishes from different regions of China however it is skewed towards Cantonese style. Each dish tells a story or its origins that creates some curiosity, nostalgia and excitement which is shared amongst the diners. To start, the Shrimp Toast is savory and delectable. The Smacked Cucumber Salad is a can't miss. Be sure to choose a few items from the Chef's Special list to include the House Char Siu. The Supreme Fried Rice with salmon roe is so unique and special. Complete your meal with an Oolong Sundae. The sake and wine list is very extensive. The host and servers will assist you to recommend the appropriate pairing to your order to enhance your dining experience. Definitely we will return back to try the other interesting items in their menu.
