Absolutely wonderful experience - food was delicious.
Staff was attentive, even the chef came to check on how we enjoyed the meal. It was authentic, and truly just a hidden gem here in NYC.

Used mercato in Philadelphia for the first time to have a birthday cake and cupcakes delivered to my daughter for her 21st birthday. The bakery (very reputable) assured me the driver left with both the cake and the cupcakes, but only the cake was delivered. You can't get anyone on the phone at Mercato to resolve problems. I asked them (via email) to have the driver find or go back and get more cupcakes and complete the full delivery. They could not be bothered. They did refund me for the undelivered cupcakes but made no effort fix the problem by accomplishing the task they were paid to perform. I still paid for the delivery and tip - unreal.

Be the first to ReplyA really nice Italian place in Midtown.
I've been here a few times before, and their pasta does not disappoint. I recently got the Rigatoni Norma, and the pasta was well cooked and well sauced. Also, the restaurant has a romantic vibe, like a charming bistro in Italy. Definitely a nice atmosphere for an intimate friends night out or for a date.
Be the first to ReplySuper cozy Italian eatery.
Perfect for what we wanted in NYC for our visit ... Delicious, great quality food and atmosphere that was not going to break the bank. Fried artichoke appetizer was light, airy, and flavorful (a must try). Eggplant Rigatoni was melt-in-your mouth delicious. Mushroom fettuccini and gnocchi ragu were a hit. Tiella Pugliese: Mussels with rice & potato casserole was unique, creamy, and very filling. We would definitely go back again on our next visit.

Pasta was amazing! Risotto was a little too wet, but still delicious. Always good specials. Charcuterie board is really good, the prosciutto melts in your mouth.

I want to also note that I am not Italian and would find it incredibly wrong to rate on its authenticity by comparing it to other italian restaurants.- I've ordered delivery from them three times now and our orders have always arrived correct and neat.- All of there desserts are delicious. I've had their panna cotta, tiramisu, and salame al ciocciolato. There is nothing that makes me happier than knowing if I pay for something to eat, I'll enjoy it. Many have said their dessert is standard and I truly don't care. I know if I give Mercato my money for their dessert, I'm getting something I enjoy. If you're a fudge person, go with the salami. If you like flan, I recommend the Panna cotta. If light and fluffy if your jam, get the tiramiau. Alternatively, get all three and call that your dinner.- For pasta, I've tried their gnocchi and sphagetti. The texture of the gnocchi is very pillowy. You didn't really need to bite it as you could slurp it down. My grandma would love this cause she has no teeth and is quite tired of soup. Check out the picture attached to see the size of their gnocchi. The spaghetti was great! I honestly would love it as a kid. It had a nice bite, the sauce was refreshing (if that makes any sense), and the basil was perfect.- Portion sizes was were I became pretty sad. It's not much. To give some background, I eat one slice of pizza and I'm full. I was able to finish the spaghetti to feel full. If you need more than a slice of pizza, you might want to consider order another dish ( app or entree).
Be the first to ReplyCool vintage Italian spot.
It's small and quaint. Amazing pear and walnut salad, mushroom fettuccine , lasagna, and pistachio almond ice cream cake! We made reservations at the last minute for an early 445 dinner and it was perfect.

I was a little hesitant to come to Mercato because I've been to some other highly rated Italian restaurants in NYC and not enjoyed it for the price point. This is a small but cozy restaurant. The back room was a little loud if other people are sitting near you. I think I took our waiter's opinion on everything and it didn't disappoint. He made a mocktail for me which was 1. Creative 2. Very kind to do since it wasn't on the menu and 3. Delicious. I thought all the food was very fairly and reasonably priced. Not huge portions but also not super expensive, and everything is really fresh. The fried artichokes were really good and the meet & cheese board had so much on it (this was definitely a good portion side). The ravioli was delicious - even though the sauce was a butter sage sauce the butter wasn't overpowering. The gnocchi looked so pillowy soft. Everyone enjoyed their food. The pistachio semifreddo was, again, delicious. Not too sweet and the perfect dessert. I would definitely come back here for some good Italian food and a mocktail!

Came here for dinner with a large group ( place was packed ) . Firstly , the venue itself is charming , cozy and certainly feels like an Italian place. We started odd with salads, calamari , and more, and Burrata! For my main, I ordered the spaghetti and a couple meatballs - the best I've had in NY ! Other ordered lasagna , and some other dishes . Attentive service and excellent food ! I will certainly be back . One of the best Italian meals I've had in NY surprisingly !

First time in the city and on a Saturday night, we just happened to come upon this establishment and get a quick last minute reservation. Small intimate place, with amazing food and wine. Great service. Highly recommend!

We finally went back to Broadway to catch a 2pm show of Aladdin which was awesome! After the show we stopped at Mercato for dinner. Everything was really yummy and tasted super fresh. The restaurant started getting packed by the time we were leaving, I guess everyone is hearing how delicious the food is. The chocolate salame dessert is so delicious we ordered and extra one to bring home for breakfast
Be the first to ReplyWent here for dinner tonight.
They sat us at a small table in the front near the window. The place has some cool character to it, with brick walls. Service was okay, nothing special. The food was mediocre. They told us about a special appetizer which was fried dough with sprinkled cheese and marinara sauce. It turned out to be a couple tiny pizzas and was the most expensive item on our bill, $22. What a sneaky move that was. The sliced bread was dry and came with some odd lentil and oil mix in a bowl, that tasted pasty. I asked for butter and the female server immediately said they don't have any. What kitchen doesn't carry butter?!The three meatball appetizer I had was awful. Mushy meatballs that tasted like too much bread crumbs and it came with hard dry bread. The rigatoni Norma dish had too hard noodles and lacked flavor. My Diet Coke was 3/4 ice. Needless to say this place is far from authentic Italian food. A total rip off.

I loved our evening! Husband was mad that I made a reservation for an Italian restaurant bc he is Italian and not usually happy with Italian food outside of Nonna or his native Italy. But Mercato is the REAL DEAL! FANTASTIC!!!! I will be back first night the next visit to NYC.On the non Italian side... the salmon was the best salmon I have ever had. Try multiple dishes... octopod, facade spread, the homemade pastas... delicious!!!

Horrible experience dining in the back room. We had a Reservation from months ago. Didn't get served for a while. She didn't care about us and I know this because she told us to wait until she gets orders from other customers first and never came back. Extremely disappointed.

First Of all the waiter/host that attended us waits for us to be all the way in the back of the restaurant to attend us and Direct us to a table for two. We order after a few mins as usual, I request a lemonade, she brings me a carbonated lemonade which I had no idea about because I was not informed that the juice I ordered was in fact a soda. We get our food immediately after by another person, in the mist of trying to grab the waitress that ended us attention, she spends literally the whole time with another table with girls discussing trips and personal life. We had to find another person to help us with our needs because she failed to pay her customers any mind
Be the first to ReplyGreat Italian restaurant.
Had the meatballs as appetizer - really good red sauce, one of the best in the city. I had the gnocchi with ragu sauce and I preferred the red sauce with the meatballs. The tiramisu was standard but overall an excellent meal.Highly recommend it!
Be the first to ReplyThis was such a great experience.
This restaurant was right next to the hotel we were staying at and arrived here just before the dinner rush. We had no idea this was a Michelin starred restaurant just a year ago. It does seem they lost the star (however don't quote me on this). Still I was very excited about the potential. I had the Orecchiette cime di rapa acciughe, and the freshness of all the ingredients is what puts it over the top. If you stay anywhere in Manhattan, you should give them a try.

The place is small and and tables are very close to one another that I felt I was apart of the other table. I did not care for this place at all. The meatballs were not good at all. The drinks were blah, but the reason I gave it the two stars was because the Linguine al Frutti di Mare was actually really good. I enjoyed the dish and that is the only reason for the two stars. Other than that you will not find me back here.

I'm going to start off saying that this is the best red sauce I have ever had in the city. Most of the time the sauces are so pathetic I'd rather just open up a can of ragu or Prego and stay home. But seriously this sauce is amazing. I suggest you say something on the advertising to highlight that the sauce is good. I did have a insane breakdown about their refusal to serve bread with butter. They outright would not give me butter for the bread and I contemplated leaving for a moment. Guys the next time someone is complaining about your ridiculous position on butter just put down a small cup of sauce in front of their face and tell them to dip it and stand by as they bow to the almighty red sauce. If you serve sauce like this you can deny me butter any day of the week. Deny me butter but please just don't deny me this sauce!!!! I'm writing this review play by play. Ok so the red sauce I was talking about above was from the meatball appetizer. My lasagna came and the sauce was reduced from a 10/10 to a 7.5/10 because of the meatball taste or whatever else was in there. It is still the best I have had in the city. Now the pasta itself was overcooked and a little on the soft side. I actually didn't like the pasta but since the sauce was so amazing I am going to assume this was just a mistake this time around. Will update my review on the next trip here. Note to the server I was in the Afghan war and have PTSD because when I was there they only served bread with olive oil as well. My PTSD causes me to have flashbacks of grenades and bombs and gun shots galore when I am served olive oil with bread.. so let's just blame the US government on my bad behavior for sending me to that God forsaken place for no reason in the first place. Btw that was a joke, I am not a veteran.
