This Michelin star restaurant has quite the menu and some intricate specials. The dip duo, guac, salsa and queso was not the epic app I was wanting it to be. We thought the chips were a little too thick The shrimp camarones was absolutely delicious and that lime rice mixed with a side of their black beans is the way to go. Loved this dish. My friend had one of the specials the sea bass and she devoured it before I even got a taste of it so I'm going to say she gave it two thumbs up. The margs and non-alcoholic drinks were solid as well. The server had an amazing knowledge of the menu and really went into detail on the specials which we enjoyed. Five star staff! The vibe was very open concept with lots of large communal tables. It's funny that on the same street we usually go to El Carmen and we're always told they have too many reservations and they squeeze us in just barely each time. Here we are at a Michelin star restaurant and we just walked right in no reservation, no problem. Seated immediately. Thought that was strange but glad we have two choices for Mexican food on 3rd Street.

Fantastic happy hour! Tried the choriqueso, tacos al pastor, and carnitas tacos, all were delicious. The meat in the tacos was so tender and juicy-especially the carnitas. We also tried the Mercado margarita and the flor de Jamaica which was like a hibiscus margarita and very refreshing. Service was quick and attentive. And the high tops by the window are a great place to people watch along third street. Would absolutely recommend!

Positives: The ambience was on point with an indoor/outdoor vibe. Bar area looked inviting. Food was very aesthetically pleasing and tasted delicious. We seemed to have two server, one who initially greeted us and took out drink order and the second who followed up with the drinks and food order. Both were friendly and personable. Negatives: the guy at the host desk wasn't friendly, no smile. Parking is find your own spot. Since it was early afternoon we were able to find parking in a nearby neighborhood. We also saw a parking lot across the street and down a little from Mercado. Most negative for me was that I could smell the cleaning agent the entire time I was sitting in the restaurant. It smelt like Fabuloso which wasn't pleasant to us.

The calabacita side is something new to me and delicious definitely recommend trying it.

Came here for happy hour and left extremely satisfied!! They have delicious and strong margs for $8, and food options between $7-$14. Such a steal for LA. Our table got a few different tacos, the shrimp, gringas, and ground beef were delicious. We also got the guac and choriqueso for the table. The choriqueso was sooo good I highly recommend!!! We had amazing service as well. Definitely recommend coming here for an amazing happy hour experience!!!
Be the first to ReplyWe both had the ribeye special.
It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Their guacamole is some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Their chips complement their guacamole to a t. When I think of their micheladas, my mouth waters. Diego is one of best servers I've had in a very long time. He's attentive, professional and very friendly.
Be the first to ReplyTacos (pork and steak) + their guac & chips.
Drinks: Ordered a Cucumber Margarita. Overall 8/10. Services is good & fast.

Mercado is a great place to go! Good cocktails, specials, decor, eats, and more. I've been here twice now, and while the small plates, starters, salads, tacos, vegetable based dishes, entree, and beyond are solid... I'm always more up for their wine and cocktails. Happy Hour is all week long, including weekends. Their house wine is excellent for red or white. Sangria, si por favor! Margaritas? Always! Some of the best in LA. Calabacitas is yum, sort of like a vegan ceviche but with its own flavor! I've yet to try the Vegan Enchiladas as they were on the menu my first time, but I didn't notice them the second... One day! Great chips & salsa! I enjoy sitting at the bar for prompt as well as courtesy service. The gentlemen who has been there, both times is really cool, with a good sense of humor and quick on hit feet. Typically, you'll be greeted by a host, whether you're sitting at the bar or dining throughout the main restaurant. Parking is mostly valet and/or street. Open as early as 4 or 5 PM and as late as 930 to 10 PM for dinner, dessert, and/or drinks Tuesday through Saturday (closed Mondays only). Sundays, they're open for brunch and the entire day (1130 AM to 9 PM).

Be the first to ReplySuper cool vibe, great food, but a little noisy.
Would go again though, for sure. The guacamole and chips were phenomenal. The cuenga cucumber salad and roasted chicken were both outstanding. Great restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyI had an extremely pleasant experience at Mercado.
Our waitress Galoran, was so delightful. She explained all her favorite dishes in detail and gave us all her wonderful recommendations. We ordered the following: Surf and turf special with a beef and fried lobster crispy taco. The tacos were incredible and each very different. The lobster taco was delicate and juicy surrounded by a beautiful crunchy shell on top of a puddle of mash potatoes (which unfortunately made it a little soggy on the bottom). I would remove the mash potatoes to keep the crispy integrity of the taco. But make no mistake, the flavors were amazing. My favorite thing that we ordered. The beef taco was a savory cut of filet into cubes surrounded by a delicious homemade corn tortilla. We loved it. Ahi tuna ceviche with mango, avocado, red onions, jalapeño and plantain chips- it was light and refreshing, good start but I would skip this next time. Dip Duo - guacamole, choriqueso that includes melted cotija, parmesan, oaxaca cheeses, Yxta salsa brava and fresh chips. The choriqueso was unbelievable (we devoured this). It was a smokey, smooth, creamy, delicious cheesy goodness.Carne Asasa and we added shrimp, accompanied by the amazing cheesy mash potatoes with vegetables. The char-grilled skirt steak was tender, juicy and delicious. They make their own home made corn tortillas which are absolutely incredible! The flan is spectacular! It was creamy, dense, custardy, with a hint of vanilla bean and caramel accompanied by nutmeg liquor sauce. You must try it! I can't wait to try their brunch!

A great spot for a mid-week happy hour! It's from 5-7pm and the prices are literally so amazing! Had their Mercado Margarita and tried a few types of tacos (shrimp and pork)--the Dos Gringas is by far my favorite but if you want something a little lighter the jicama shrimp tacos are where it's at.Our waiter was quite literally the nicest person ever and kept the good vibes going. This is a short walk from where I work so, yes, I will be back!

Wowowow came in and got a table fast and had an amazing experience! The servers were constantly checking up on my table and were so friendly and attentive, offering drinks and extra tortillas. The dip duo is amazing!!! Like I kept going in for more the chorizoqueso dip was yummy and had a perfect savory flavor, though I wish there was more actual chorizo in it. The guacamole was really good as well, huge portion for the table and was super refreshing, I felt that it could have used a little bit more lime juice and salt though. The carnitas plate was absolutely perfect! The flavors were all shining through in it and I was surprised especially by the cauliflower which had lots of flavor and taste that it matched the carnitas it self. The chips were crispy and good but there were some that tasted and felt a bit stale to chew. Overall this was a very positive experience and I can't wait to come back again with my friends to impress!

Great cozy spot! I went for dinner and thought the ambiance was very cozy since they keep the lights dimmed. The service was very friendly and attentive. I only wish they had more vegetarian and vegan entree options, but the food I did have was great!

...thos place has the best service. The fish tacos are amazing and we keep coming back for exactly that. The staff is very attentive and makes sure there is no need for anything. We just learned that they have a few locations but Manhattan beach is our favorite. I love that we can go for ice cream afterwards because Handles ice cream is just across the way.

Came here for a work lunch to celebrate a colleague's birthday. We ordered chips and guac, as well as the choriqueso for the appetizers and both were so delicious! The choriqueso was everyone's favorite-- it was creamy and subtly smokey. I thought the fish tacos were nothing special but my colleagues all enjoyed their dishes. Other items ordered included: catch of the day (not photographed), cahuenga cucumber salad (not photographed), carnitas, and the chile relleno. They also had a great selection of drinks. Many of us ordered cocktails and they were all so tasty! The service was good overall but the food was on the pricier side.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is always a hit.
Their ceviche and corn for appetizer are amazing. You can never go wrong with their chips and guacamole. I've had many things on their menu and EVERYTHING has been delicious. Chicken, pork, steak, shrimp.... All cooked to perfection. Love this place.

Thank you to Mike the manager who made my birthday celebration with extra special with a glass of champagne to start, and after dinner (shrimp jicama tacos, guacamole, rice and beans) my favorite tres leches cake and flan. I'm a longtime customer of Mercado, but this was the best visit yet! Wonderful friendly service from the whole staff. Will be back again soon for sure!
