Very poor lunchtime experience
Not been here for a couple of years and having been today,we won't be going back. We were there for lunchtime opening,staff didn't seem to care,place looks tired and dirty. Food wise, anything noodle or rice was cold,everything was bland or tasteless. Hottest thing was the broccoli. Salad bar was dire and selection of dessert was very poor and as per usual,the ice cream machine was out of order. For £12.45 per head,the least you expect is for the food to be hot. Sad because we used to enjoy going......not anymore
Good food bad staff
Very good food but the owner let it down. Treat members of staff badily and kept arguing with us! Made staff pay for money for an honest mistake. The owner, cheap (his name), was incredibly toxic and scolded staff also very intimidating.
Bad and filthy
Food was OK just like takeaway to be fair.plenty to choose from. Place is filthy, ceiling vents full of dust ,heat light hanging down on floor bar, dirty tables,dirty chairs, toilets are shocking. I could go on but there's too much. It needs shutting and a full refurbishment doing, staff need to smile more the old gal just pushes you out of the way to fill up the trays. Avoid.
Absolutely awful
Miserable, unfriendly staff.Food was not hot and we did not see any of it replenished in the hour we were there.Lousy selection for vegetarians.Toilets filthy.Dried out coffee cake and tinned fruit for pudding.After I'd bought some drinks I asked for some iced tap water,I was told that you are not allowed ice with tap water! Plates not collected regularly.All in all,absolutely awful.
Brilliant family meal out
We had a birthday meal out yesterday and everything was excellent. The restaurant was clean, the staff welcoming and the food was excellent and who doesn’t enjoy eat all you can when that’s the case! It’s was so good all 6 of us said we can’t wait to go back so thank you
Avoid
Literally the worst place I’ve eaten at. To be fair to the place, the food wasn’t the worst part. The whole place is filthy, with ripped chairs, dirty windows, tables and floors. Cables loosely hanging everywhere and dirt on every surface making you question the cleanliness of food preparation areas. 🤢 Once you have sifted through to find a plate that isn’t already covered with food or hair, you are then greeted with some of the worst labelling of food I have seen. Some times items are a total guess with no signage the ones with are incorrect - e.g. chicken saying vegetarian and egg fried rice with a vegan sticker on it 🙈 no other allergen or dietary information at all! The food is bland, greasy Chinese but edible. It’s just the whole atmosphere and hygiene of the place puts you off immensely! Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this place to my dog.

This place has gone so downhill been several times but its got a little worse everytime.Staff are so rude dont give you time to sit before asking for payment and drink orders,taking plates before youve put your cutlery down just so rude.Food not very warm ,tasteless and just not like ordering from a local chinese very bland and tasteless ,chicken and other meats dry and chewy my honest opinion is dont bother ,we wont return again

It was my first visit to May Sum yesterday and I was impressed. There was a variety of dishes, all fresh and tasted great. Everything that you could want was there. There was a selection of deserts, including cakes and fruit. There was a chocolate fountain too! It was well staffed resulting in a good level of customer service. I recommend the restaurant and I will be returning.
More MSG than Facebook!!!
This place is basically OK. The staff can’t speak English but I can’t speak Cantonese. The food choice is extensive and generally well prepared. Drink service is slow and usually wrong. The biggest problem is the amount of MSG and salt in the food. A good meal will leave you feeling like a prune with a splitting headache and the food, being generally fried, does not sit too well either. Good place to teach greedy people a lesson!!
Buffet Chinese in tight quarters
Been twice to this restaurant and the first visit was substantially better than the second mainly due to the selection of foods at the buffet. That will always differ in a buffet restaurant but this really was like being in two different places. The serving area does seem a little over cramped for the amount of diners who can fill the space and you can find yourself fighting for food with people who don't seem to care who'll they'll upset in the hunt for a chicken ball and a spoon of special fried. If you're not expecting first class dining it is OK. To be fair, for £11 it's reasonable.
Not the best
After arriving this evening Friday 1st march to be shown to a table to be then told you can't sit here it's reserved. We placed our drinks order after 30 minutes and twice telling members of staff we hadn't received our drinks the waiter came over and handed us our drinks of the table next to us. The words being muttered were sorry these were sent to the wrong table we did notice the drinks appear on the table next to us but didn't think anything. Explained that we wanted fresh ones again was kept waiting for a further 20 minutes for them to arrive only to find lipstick on one of the glasses. Giving up waiting to explain we went to the bar ourselves. Good tonight was mediocre I personally didn't think it was very warm. The place was very busy to be fair. After sitting just relaxing after our meal we were told at 8.15 they were closing the area we were sitting in. No please or thank you. Toilets tonight were also not the cleanest. Overall not the best visit to Maysum.

Dirty surroundings.. good selection of food but not very hot. In need of a good clean .. old tired stained furniture, mucky walls. Not very inviting

Right now this has to be one of the worst Chinesse buffet restaurant we have visited. the one good thing which we can say its cheap but i suppose that's what you get for the price. the food was not great at all half of the food wasnt even there and as for desert don't bother there was only chocolate ice cream which was like a brick no sources for ice cream. and as for any other desert try at your own risk. the Decore is very outdated and it just felt dirty. now for the staff again we think they need to learn customer skills just not very friendly at all.
Not worthy...
Firs of all I would like to mention the cleanliness:the floor is here so sticky and looks dirty... that's sad and disgusting Secondly the food went downhill... We have been in this place many times and definitely will not going back...The meat was chewy, oversalted or some totally bland, I tried my favorite hot and sour soup - what a disaster,does the staff even try it before is putting it out to customers? It was jus sweet and sour... Just go somewhere else.....
They asked us to leave during the dinner
We’ve got asked to leave to restaurant because they’re starting serving dinner at 17:30 or something. We got to the restaurant at 16:42 ( the Waitress came over with the recipe to show us what time we got there ) by 17:15 one of the Waitrose came to let us know we had to leave due to time and 3 people came with the manager came and asked us to leave. If the price changes after 17:30 we wouldn’t mind paying on top of what we already paid but you don’t ask the customer to leave, who does that? we didn’t even finish eating, what kind of restaurant provides a service like that? you don’t ask the customer to leave cuz the price will change after a certain time. I was so hungry and found it unacceptable and after eating at this place for so many years I was so disappointed. when the lady came with the recipe to proof the I just told her we’re leaving, I was so angry 😤 poor service it’s not even the word to describe (cuz it’s that bad)
Just awful
Having eaten here several times before it seemed the perfect choice after a day of shopping. We arrived quite late; at 8:40. The waitress demanded payment of 17.95 first, then told us they would be stopping the food at 9.30. We asked for water, it didn’t arrive and I had to go to the bar to serve myself. Then at 9.05 they started to dismantle the chocolate fountain. Then more staff started emptying out the food trays into each other, splashing the floor, splashing the other food trays. Banging cutlery. Mopping the floor. That coupled with the horrendously loud music the whole experience was all very unwelcoming. The whole place feels filthy. The name cards above the food are sticky and grimy. The floor is filthy. The food is luke warm and pretty awful. The food serving spoons are covered in old food and revolting. I had to get a paper napkin to use them. The tables are sticky and the chairs dirty. It needs closing down and deep cleaning immediately. The staff are indifferent to any of your comments frankly Whilst I was waiting for my husband to collect our car I observed thge staff and their ‘clean up’ process. They had a bucket of water and one cloth. The silver heated trays at the ends were being scooped out and and then wipe with a cloth. Each of the four of them the same way. Not taken out and washed, just wiped round with the same cloth. The whole thing was just revolting to watch and I wish I had never eaten there. Monday morning I am going to report what I have seen to Nottingham Environmental Health department. .
avoid at all costs
I must be fair I don't give many bad reviews but this must be the worst chinese buffet I have ever been to, the food was the cheapest of cheap cuts, I had a diet coke which must of cost about 25p a gallon, this is best avoided, people who say this is great must have no taste buds
Awful and rude
I rang the restaurant for a price before we left they told me £8 for children and £15.50 for adults. We travelled from Leicester. When we got there they made me pay adult price for my daughter who is 11 as they had a line for height restriction. I explained I rang the restaurant before hand and they never said anything about height restriction and my daughter literally only had rice and chicken balls and certainly would not eat more than one plate but they wouldn’t budge. I was angry they did not mention anything about height restriction when we called up. The waitress who served us was very rude as was the manager when we asked to speak to him! Will not be returning!!
Food really nice but the decor and old fashion look spoils the experience
Nice food it really was, better than when we went to Birmingham Chinese buffet.Cost is excellent, came from Derby to try you and will be returning again...just abit of advice the place needs fixing up alot.very old fashioned indeed and fix the melted chocolate stand clearly its broke....toilets were herrondous so plse give it a nice make over because the decor spoils ya business...looking forward to eating again with you though

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
