I love the food here great service.
The workers are all amazing. I stopped in last night. Jesus and Caleb helped me. They had amazing energy and they were able to help me in a very professional manner. I will definitely be coming back.

Normally im ALWAYS satisfied with the service and the food being served at Makai. But today i was pretty much disappointed if i had left with my food i would've missed out on my 4 teriyaki spam musubi's (2.79 each) and my creamy house dressing for my salad. I had to walk up at least three times for three different things 1. Utensil's were not filled 2. My spam musubis 3. My dressing for my salad. I know it sounds very little for a 2/3 but it makes a big difference in taste and experience and especially if im paying for my items i would like to have them. Ill still give some stars because again i really love the food here but the service was just not there today.
Be the first to ReplyAn excellent healthy and tasty meal for an excellent price.
Every item on the menu is good and I really recommend the katsu and the poke.
Be the first to ReplyYou taste more fish in the poke then anything else.
Katsu was good. Katsu sauce? Spicy ketchup? Mac salad was bland and rice was mushy. Wasn't horrible but wasn't good. Might eat again but wouldn't crave it

I've come here a few times because the mac salad and teriyaki steak is good. I decided to try their spam musubi today. I ordered one regular and one teriyaki. I started eating the teriyaki one on the way home and I bit into something crunchy and then realized the spam was completely burnt! The regular one ( as they called it) was just plain! No furikake seasoning, no sauce. Just plain spam and rice. I grew up in Hawaii and I know that's definitely not how a regular spam musubi is made. The service here could be a lot better. I don't think I've ever walked in and been greeted by any of the workers. I noticed today that not one employee looked up or smiled when I walked in . I think if you are serving Hawaiian food and playing Hawaiian music, there should also be that aloha spirit when a customer walks in the door.
Be the first to ReplyWe got a medium and a large for $28.
15. It was delicious. We got a few pieces of katsu from the medium but split the large one last wednesday night. We saved the medium for saturday's lunch. (And it was easy to warm up too.) We got the chicken katsu, teriyaki chicken & kalua pork with double mac salad and rice, mmm. Everything was really tasty. The mac salad had a lot of flavor. The kalua pork was not as fatty as you'd think, which was surprising. The katsu was perfect. And the teri chicken was very good. The sauces were also delish. I am a big fan of buying once, but eating twice. I think this might be our hawaiian food go-to. And the big plus, is it's close to home too. Our son loves it. When given the choice he wants this type of food (we don't get it as often as we used to, with rising prices, we keep it to once a weekend, the eating out).
Be the first to ReplyFood was alright.
It was better the last time I visited. As someone from Hawaii, I am picky where I get my Hawaiian food. The Ahi poke tasted a little fishy, I believe it was missing more sesame oil. Felt like they were a little stingy on the meat and the chicken katsu was a little burnt. The service was below average. Though the girl that was on the cashier was great, I forgot to get her name. Will not go to this restaurant again.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
Fast and friendly service. Definitely a great place for a quick lunch on the go!

Although I am giving Makai Island Grill only a 2, that 2 is because we thought their macaroni salad was really delicious and really the only main highlight to our meal. Staff seemed basically there for a paycheck. Nothing necessarily welcoming or helpful being offered as we placed our orders at the counter. We ordered two meals to go. My husband went with two meats and I went with poke. The foundation of the meal of rice was exceptionally overcooked and hard, like real hard...some of those rice grains could break a tooth! The poke was underwhelming. It was smooshy, a bit slimy and a touch salty...all the things you do not want poke to be. Did not taste close to being fresh. The chicken in my husbands dish was overcooked. But did I mention the macaroni salad....exceptional. very flavorful, creamy and cold. Delish! Worth stopping in to get a tub of that. Underwhelming overall and we most likely won't be back. Too much Hawaiian completion in the area that are better.
Be the first to ReplyLove the Mochico chicken here and the steak.
Been goin here since it opened years ago. Like the concept that it's already cooked and u just pick the proteins and side dishes. Selection is good. Poke is now disappointing. Not the same as when they just opened. Tuna stringy too. It wasnt thawed properly or something tastes funny. Hope they fix this. A lot of poke places openednear the area and you can taste the difference

Be the first to ReplyThis place is really going downhill.
..such a hit or miss. To make matters worse, the cook who turns cashier on cash transactions has thee worst customer service, doesn't speak or look at you at all and under his nails was filled with dirt, quite disgusting.

Was looking for something to eat and found this place on yelp and am very glad I did. I can't say I know what authentic Hawaiian food is but the food here has to be close. Between my wife and I, we got the chicken katsu, the pig, the wings, and the poke for meats, and macaroni salad and kimchee slaw for sides. The katsu, pig, and poke were all delicious while the wings were okay. Both the sides were also surprisingly great as well. I probably enjoyed them as much as I did the meats. Portions were large as well. We both got large bowls and we were able to split it into two meals. Staff was friendly as well. While it almost feels like a fast food place with similarities to chipotle, I will definitely visit again when I am in the area.
Be the first to ReplyFood portion is so little.
Meat is cold. Very rude when taking feedbacks. Not even 1/3 of the foil tin is filled.
Be the first to ReplyFood is always excellent however the food portion was small
Food is always excellent however the food portion was small compared to the other locations. I felt like I got robbed with 2 bowls costing over $20 What did I pay for? 4 small pieces of Chicken Katsu in each bowl, what a joke. I don't think I'll be coming back to this location.

We saw a "buy one, get one" deal on the UberEats app for a small plate, so my little brother and I thought why not try it out! It was $7.46 for a small plate, and you could select the type of meat and side that you want. We decided on chicken katsu, brown rice, and a side salad w/ red onion vinaigrette. With delivery AND tip, the order came out to $16! We really liked the packaging, the utensils, and the way it was presented. The chicken katsu was also perfectly crispy. I thought the serving was perfect.. when we finished eating everything, we agreed that we definitely got a good deal on Uber for this one without the hassle of traveling to the restaurant... (it's 25 mins away from our house and is quite a drive) On another note, I have never been to Makai before, but am willing to go there now because of how good the chicken katsu was!! I would love to bring my brother here and try their poke next time (:

My fiancรฉ and I love the food here! We picked it up Togo and by the time we brought it home it was a little cold, but we still devoured. But that's pretty much the only reason for not 5 stars. The prices are surprisingly great for the amount of food you get! May become our go to spot for dinner
Be the first to ReplyA couple friends of ours have absolutely raved about Makai
A couple friends of ours have absolutely raved about Makai and finally too us to try it. First and foremost, the place was very clean and the tables were reasonably spaced apart. There were plenty of staff available to handle a high volume of costumers, and all of them were very friendly. Now on to the part you are really interested in... the food! There's really no other way to describe it other than packed full of flavor. The Mochiko chicken was my personal favorite and was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. I got a large plate, which comes with 3 meats, 2 sides, and your choice of brown or white rice. Everything I tried was amazing and I highly recommend the spicy teriyaki sauce to add just a little bit of extra flavor and kick to an already delicious meal. We will definitely be going back!

This is the best Hawaiian place! The price you pay to the amount of food you get is amazing. I love the teriyaki chicken and kalua pork is the best. I visited here with a friend and definitely plan on returning. I love how you can pick and choose your sides and they have a wide variety of options compared to other Hawaiian places in Vegas.

Nothing great! Lots of better restaurants with better flavor and bigger servings. Ordered via uber eats. They also forgot an item in our order. Had the kalua pork(had lots of chunks of fat) and poke with side of salad and rice, salad didn't come with any dressing! Tried the katsu and teriyaki steak, both very dry. Only thing i liked was the kimchi slaw. Poke was okay

Dirty dine-in, bad customer service, servers not wearing gloves. I ordered biggest plate with 3 portions of katsu but was served as 2 portion plate only. Won't ever come back here again...

Absolutely a hidden gem!! I knew I was at the right place the way one of the young fellas working had greeted us when we got there. We got there right before closing, in my experience most times you get "rushed" customer service and this was not the case. The food was great beyond belief. Everything about this place was 5 stars!!
