MACAKIZI BODRUM Reviews from The Last Year
Guests Paying The Most Come Second
Upon check in the hotel front staff was normally welcome but then everything else was just plain bad. The main focus, for why we choose to stay, is the bar and beach. ALL the bartenders were atrocious.. to the point it felt they were just blatantly disrespectful. (Note, there was only one exception which was the bartender from Spain who was delightful). The bar gets very busy in the summer and is the draw and why we chose to stay. The hotel staff upon check in will knowingly lie to you and tell you "bar is first come first serve". Yet come 4pm everyday the bar staff will rudely ask you as a paying guest to move out of your bar seat as they have a reservation. Near every time the persons taking your spot will be some teenager to early 20 year old from Istanbul. Same idea applies to the restaurant and day beds but not as extreme as the bar. Macakizi, you realize the only reason your property remotely functions or exists is due to the hotel guests paying thousands of dollars to stay? (starting price 1K USD / 27,500 TL per night) and not some semi-local who is spending a mere 100 euros at the bar. They treat the guests like second had citizens. Years ago Macakizi was the only place to have fun in Bodrum.. that is changing rapidly fast with many known brands / bars set to open next year. I assure this hotel that unless you start prioritizing your high-paying guests they will go elsewhere... and you notice blatantly the people they prioritize and kick you out for at the bar are never actually staying at the hotel as they wont pay the 27,500 TL price. (Very, very, very high for Turkey). Wont get into it but note the rooms are also mediocre. Maca please take care of your guests.. common sense in hospitality.
The best food
The hotel is very simple but beautiful. You can totaly feel the bodrum vites. The top is the cuisine! The food is Just amazing and the ambience and the atmosphere of the restaurant and the beach club worth to go here again!
If you are from a major city (New York) and used to luxury, do not stay here!
The setting of this hotel is beautiful and peaceful. There is a lot of potential here, but they do need to change their management. Our stay was quite horrendous considering the prices that they charge. I do not typically write reviews and love to travel the world and stay at luxury hotels which are always up to standard. We live in New York City and love the finer things in life. This hotel, for the prices that they charge is just not it. First of all, the service was horrendous. We had to flag waiters over every day just to get a menu and it felt as if they were doing us a favor by taking our orders. They use for poor quality cutlery and glasses. A glass broke in my hand within a minute of me taking a sip out of it, and the waiter had no idea until my boyfriend had to run after him for a bandaid. When you first arrive, they assign you a staff member who will exchange phone numbers and "take care of you throughout your stay." I was excited and asked to book a massage. The woman said she would contact the spa in the morning and get back to me... she never did. When we check out of hotels, we normally just glance at the bill since its usually accurate. This time, I was shocked to see a number that I knew was at least double of what we spent on food and drinks. I asked the manager and she had no idea and she said that we had to pay it. I made her review everything and in the end, they actually owed us money! Absolutely ridiculous and disorganized for any hotel. Be careful checking out of here so they don''t scam you.
