An experience I will never forget
If it were possible to rate more than 5 stars, I would. One of the best experiences I've ever had. From booking to coffee, the service is truly impeccable. I booked it to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The reservation was made 1 and a half months in advance and, even so, when we arrived the team knew it was his birthday. The restaurant is intimate (only 7 tables) with an open kitchen, which gives us the opportunity to follow all the preparations. A silent kitchen in perfect harmony. There were 17 moments with drink pairing and, I can say that everything was impeccable from the presentation of the dishes, the team's attention to explaining each moment and each drink and finally the flavor, Spectacular!!! Without a doubt, I will be back.
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic evening!
We had a really fantastic evening here! We mailed and talked about my numerous nutricional allergies in advance and the menue was perfectly adapted. Outstanding hospitality, clear defined dishes with brilliant textures and flavors, surprising wine pairing led to an unforgettable evening that proved that a one-star-restaurant can be much better than a two-starred one (where we have been the evening before). So with great respect and congratulations for your performance we want to thank you very much. We will return!!!!
Be the first to ReplyZero seriousness
We booked 4 days in advance on the restaurant's website, and the reservation was confirmed immediately by email. However, on the day we had the reservation, I received a message at 3 in the afternoon (we had an appointment at 9:00 p.m.) canceling my reservation without giving any reason. I even called by phone and they gave me no explanation. Very unserious for a restaurant that is supposed to be classy.
Be the first to ReplyMoment of intense pleasure with unique flavors
Restaurant with a concept far above average. Of course awarded a Michelin star. Tasting the Loco menu presented is a journey that takes us around the world. The dishes are wonderful and superb with explosions of flavors and the wines are served so that we can enjoy every moment. The intensity is phenomenal. The products are really fresh and taste like endless flavors that project us to every corner of the world. The service is provided in such a way that there is no failure at any time. The highlight in the room goes to João, who is a star within this magnificent culinary world. Thank you for the satisfaction provided.
Be the first to ReplyTaste experience at its best
Everything was right Quantities, pace, friendliness, explanation. Rarely have you eaten so well! Fantastic option for alcohol-free pairing (wine pairing is also great!) Taste experience after taste experience These people know exactly what they are doing, compliments to everyone, we had a fantastic evening Greetings from the Netherlands
Be the first to ReplyGreat evening and excellent dinner
We had a great evening and excellent meal at this small (only 7 tables) and low key restaurant. The room is spacious, elegant, airy, minimalist and with an open kitchen. The place exudes positive energy. The staff is young, efficient and very friendly. The food was excellent: 16 small portions of outstanding flavours, Portuguese with a modern twist. The wine recommendation was very good. On the whole, a perfect meal and to my mind a well deserved one Michelin star. Reservations a must.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious
Ridiculously pretentious. Trying too hard and getting it wrong. Expensive, annoying, long. Suspended dead tree at the entrance of restaurant...? unattractive, and strange
Be the first to ReplyAwful evening and shocking service
Arrived at 9:45 pm for our booking and were left standing around having to wait for table for 20 minutes. No apology from the staff. Felt like we were just an inconvenience. No offer of a complimentary drink while we waited. After 25 minute we decided to leave. Still no apology from the staff.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth a michelin-star
We were really looking forward to this restaurant. When we arrived there, we were first received in a friendly manner and brought to the table. Since I have already studied the restaurant on the homepage, I quickly noticed that no one of the crew presented on the homepage was on site, which I found strange. The food came very quickly, as soon as we had put down the fork, it was already cleared. It quickly aroused a certain stress for us. The food was disappointing for 156 euros per person, one course contained oysters that we already smelled before we took the first bite. It was fishy and I'm pretty sure that these oysters were actually no longer allowed to be served. When we still had about four courses ahead of us, the staff already started cleaning the kitchen (open kitchen) and the kitchen crew started chatting with each other, laughing and was louder than the few guests who were still on site. It seemed very unprofessional and we didn't feel comfortable anymore. In the end, it was explicitly pointed out that we have to tip and when we left and thanked the cooks, only one person responded. The boss did not react and did not say thanks. All in all, very disappointing and not worth a Michelin star.
Be the first to ReplyNot the Service I Expected - Bad with Allergies
This was my first time at a Michelin star rated restaurant and I was generally dissatisfied. Some of of dishes hit it out of the park. Many other dishes I did not see the appeal. I was most disappointed with the service given the price for this experience. First, my wife has celiac disease and thus will get very sick if she eats gluten. I made a note of this on my reservation and the staff confirmed this when we were seated. Despite this, when one of the chefs described one of the moments to us, he mentioned a “malt vinegar reduction.” I know malt vinegar is made with barley so I asked if he was sure that the dish was gluten free. He assured me it was. When I pushed back and said that malt vinegar has gluten in it, he told me he is pretty sure their malt vinegar does not but he will check just to make sure. Of course, about 5 minutes later he comes back to say that it does and he will remake a new dish without it. They did not apologize nor did they admit to their mistake. I was pretty frightened that I was the one who had to tell the Michelin star chef what did and does not have gluten in it. For the rest of the meal all we could talk about was what else might have gluten in it. Second, we had a late reservation and during the final three courses of the meal we had the pleasure of watching the staff clean the open kitchen. Nothing like sudds and water buckets to make the ambiance as romantic as possible. Also, most of the staff was leaving while we were still having our meal. If Loco wants their staff to go home at a reasonable hour, they should not have such late seatings. Finally, when we wanted to pay, there was only one staff member left. For approximately 10 minutes after asking for the check we waited while that staff member just chatted with the only other table still in the restaurant. We were just sitting there waiting for them to finish their conversation. In total, I thought the service was very subpar and the food was good but not great.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant
We were fortunate enough to snag reservations at several Michelin starred restaurants on this trip. This tasting menu was our favorite because, not only was the food great and the Portuguese wine pairings were on point, but the service was excellent without being pretentious. The decor is sleek and cool.
Be the first to ReplyDO NOT EAT HERE!!
Please avoid this restaurant at all costs! I booked this restaurant in February as part of my husband’s surprise birthday trip to Lisbon. We turned up and they said our booking had been cancelled on their system. I had the email confirmation and still they claimed it had been cancelled. They threw us out on the street. Shameful and disgusting. Do not give them your money!
Be the first to ReplyA nice experience with a very enthousiast team but overall overprice
Very nice place next to the basilica, loved to watch the chef and the team preparing the food in front of us. Even if the menu is interesting and with a good level of quality, i was wishing for the price more of WOUAH effect that did not come. The wines are really good and served with passion. Within the different courses, i loved the oyster and liked the main courses in general. The deserts were good, not stunning. A good experience overall but I had as much pleasure in restaurant for 1/3 of the price.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Experience
Hands down, this is the best restaurant we have ever visited. The entire experience was a mix between a gourmet, tapas-style meal and a food education class. Every server provided individual, sincere attention, explaining the ingredients in each dish as well as the logic behind the specific wine pairings (by the way, the wine pairings are a MUST). Everything was local; everything was healthy; and unlike some pre-set menu restaurants, the chef was willing to accommodate taste preferences (we did not like salt, and the chef went out of their way to confirm - almost with each dish - that the salt content was to our liking). Also, unlike many gourmet pre-set menu restaurants, we were in no way rushed through our meal - to the contrary, we were encouraged to take our time, and even told we could tell the chef to “take a break” for a few minutes if we needed a restroom break or another break to simply refresh and finish our latest glass of wine. The restaurant changes its menu daily, and takes pride in not announcing prior to arrival what is being offered, so out of respect for the restaurant, I will not outline specific menu favorites - but will simply say that you should be prepared to try whatever they bring out and have an open mind, even to foods which you might not otherwise order if you are ordering al a carte. The restaurant is not cheap, but is a true experience and more than worth the cost.
Be the first to ReplyTop restaurant worth travelling for
We travel around the world to try the best restaurants out there. This time the trip went to Lisbon and we came across Loco. The food speaks for itself, so many outstanding details and flavour in every dish. The restaurant was beautiful although maybe a bit cold in temperature. We have to mention this guy João Marujo, who was serving our food and drinks all night together with great team members. What an amazing and truly professional man, which knowledge of especially the wine pairing was mind blowing. He made the night special for us and is one of the best I personally have experienced in more than 50+ Michelin restaurants. Loco is coming for that second Michelin star for sure. Thank you guys!

We went with my wife and we're both real food lovers...What a superbe surprise...The chef & his teams provides you with a very unique experience...The technique, the smells, the tastes and the service is really amzing...Each of the dishes brings you its lot of surprises and each of them is just really really good. If you can run to this small and cosy / modern restaurant...The 1* star will grow very soon I am certain...
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding. It was art.
Outstanding. Everything was fantastic. The space is very cozy and we felt immediately welcome. All the staff was fantastic and knowledgeable. The food was … art, but with taste. Some of the dishes were totally amazing. The overall experience was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was almost too beautiful to eat
This was a magnificent meal - we had the tasting menu and wine pairing which costs about 250 Euros. This is a foodies heaven, the tasting menu consisted on about 13 small but beautifully prepared dishes that included lamb, grouper, beef cheek croquettes..and the wine kept on flowing.. Staff were helpful without being intrusive and the it was a magical experience..

One word... amazing! Probably the best good experience we ever had. The team is doing an amzing job looking after you. You can feel the love for good local produce and the presentation is oit of this world. Worth every penny and we will be back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyA priceless memory. Thank you.
Where do I begin in describing this amazing night out? Ok - here’s the thing, if you just want to go out and eat something nice, do something chilled and not make too much of an investment, then clearly Loco isn’t the place to go. However, if you’re open minded, looking for something SUPER special, have a curiosity about food and wine and are up for investing in a gastronomic experience that is at times operatic and always surprising, Loco is DEFINITELY the place for you.
This 3 hour experience took my girlfriend and I on an incredible journey through the tastes, smells and sensations of an INSANELY talented group of young chefs, front of house staff and a superb sommelier. Each ‘moment’ (and there were many) offered a punch of flavour and joy to the palette that was always perfectly balanced, seasoned to perfection and above all crafted with a care and attention to detail that can only be achieved by a brigade who are all clearly dedicated to each other, their restaurant concept and above everything - the top quality ingredients they use in their artistry.
The wine pairing, expertly selected by Mario, was just simply perfect and elevated every ‘moment’ to an entirely new level. The ambience of the place created by the cool, calm collectedness of the whole crew made you feel relaxed enough to enjoy the excitement of what was to come. Honestly, it was like theatre, a play with lots of acts all happening in your mouth. Amazing.
What completed a perfect evening was the kindness of the coconut cake they made for my partner’s birthday - not to mention the singing box!
Well done Loco. You created a memory for us that will last a lifetime. In that sense what you do is priceless! Thanks again! I
Excellent Birthday Dinner
We visited last night for a birthday dinner after a really disappointing Michelin star birthday lunch elsewhere that had put me in a bit of a bad mood so I was really hoping Loco would make my birthday much better! And that it did! The service was lovely from start to finish, even little things like refilling napkins when we’d left the table, noticing my partner had dropped his napkin from his lap and bringing him a fresh one when we hadn’t even realised! Constantly wiping the table down when it got messy! The wine pairing was excellent and we got to try some new wines we hadn’t tried before. The food was amazing and the wait between courses was very efficient! Everyone was super attentive and very welcoming! Overall a really excellent experience! Thank you!
Be the first to Replydeserve 2 stars
very good restau. inventive, original. absolutely every dishes were interesting and cooked perfection. we went to Belcanto the day after ( 2 stars) and it was rubbish. it is a shame belcanto has 2 stars (probably some political reason ).
LOCO is definitely better
non alcoholic pairing was ver good as well. highly recommended
Unique, but inconsistent and servers need to learn to read a room
Just one room and 22 seats, LOCO Restaurante sees 2012 “Top Chef” Alexandre Silva take a seasonal look at Portugal's diversity across 17 "moments."
Translated as “crazy,” an odd choice given Silva’s reliance on microseasonal Ingredients indigenous to his home, it is upon entry that eyes are drawn to a modern open kitchen juxtaposing light woods and greenery.
Featuring as many cooks and front of house as guests, the servers professional but scripted in a manner that frequently undermines the intelligence of experienced diners, it was on the recommendation of LOCO’s Sommelier that a glass of White was chosen to pair with starters, a Chickpea “Taco” with aged Lamb easily the most memorable while Lettuce with Honey followed by a smoky Cracker offered an excellent one-two punch.
Still a hot ticket at six years, elements of modernism atop a solid foundation evidenced by a Bread course that sees Sourdough smeared in housemade Sausage or dipped in traditional Broth, dishes such as an earthy Clam in Foam were unfortunately less successful, though Monkfish and Grilled Pork with Blood Sausage each found success in their simplicity.
Unafraid of Offal, tender Cow’s Tongue the penultimate savory before umami-driven Eggplant, Dessert comes from Chef Carolina Pereira, her time at Feitoria and El Celler de Can Roca yielding a cloud of Peach atop fragrant Tea Ice Cream and a Goat Cheese Parfait sweetened by Blueberries.
Serving Coffee via Siphon, about half apparently discarded by staff who seemed genuinely surprised anyone had seen the brewing mechanism prior, it would be difficult to name a more invigorating use of Melon than the thin layers that arrived atop Lemon Curd and Pine Nuts prior to Mignardises presented via sewing kit.
Restaurant was closed
I made a reservation online a month ago for the 26th september. After my reservation i got a mail that there was a mistake in the system and that they were closed that day, so they proposed to come today, the 27th. Today we're standing in front of the restaurant at the time of reservation and they are closed, and we can't contact them. Is this really a Michelin restaurant? Pathetic.
