Italian at it’s best!
Traveled to Vegas for a long weekend and wanted to get off the strip and masses of people. Found this nicely reviewed restaurant. It was INCREDIBLE. Very fresh and made in house. The designer drinks were marvelous. The service was impeccable. Marisa the GM was very engaged with everyone and our server, Arturo, from Chile, could have passed for Italian - incredibly polite and knowledgable of the menu. You will not be disappointed with the investment of time to travel to this true gem of a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplySauces add little
There are almost unlimited options for Italian dining in Las Vegas so choosing just a few each trip is not an easy chore. Locale came up my radar due to the appealing menu featuring a few seafood entrees coupled with positive online reviews. We started off by sharing a poached peach salad that came with mixed greens and goat cheese enhanced by a wine vinegar vinaigrette. My wife chose pan seared salmon with roasted tomato puree over a bountiful amount of crispy Brussels sprouts and fried leeks. The puree did little for the salmon, but the Brussels sprouts were excellent. I chose red snapper puttanesca over sauteed spinach. The sauce was toned down for the masses and, once again, added little other than possibly eye appeal to the fish.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Sunday brunch
We went here for the Sunday brunch. The food was excellent, as was the service. The interior felt quite European. We haven’t really used the brunch menu, but went for the regular menu instead.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant Dinner on Patio
Pleasant evening on patio. Even though it is a strip mall the experience is anything but. Pro servers and excellent food. Not fancy but nice.

With Restaurants around the World cautiously serving diners amidst the pandemic Locale Italian Kitchen has continued to support Las Vegas since the earliest days of SARS-CoV-2, and with Chef Marc Marrone now steering Andy Hooper’s spot at Mountain’s Edge the Food has only continued to improve each day.
Nothing short of a destination in the far-Southwest, an area long in need of culinary enlightenment, Phase Two of Nevada’s reopening sees Locale offering dine-in and take-away from Monday through Sunday, the menu evolving daily and now “closer to the Restaurant’s original vision” according to those involved from the beginning.
Already delivered to the office thrice under Chef Marrone’s tenure, both events and Fourth of July takeout exceeding expectations, Tuesday’s delivery came from Mr. Hooper consisting of fourteen items, an abundance able to feed twenty-five at bargain prices considering both Ingredients and portions.
Professionally packed and temperature appropriate, a mix of regional Italian plates and Chef Marrone’s family recipes, nearly a decade at Tao/Lavo further contributing finesse, lunch began with a dialed-up Caprese Salad benefited by Onions and imported Olives while Housemade Garlic Bread delighted many alongside four different Pizzas including one with spicy Jalapenos and another upgrading Margherita with Pepperoni plus Prosciutto.
Lightening things up with Citrus-soaked Broccolini, plus U8 Shrimp bathing in Garlic and Wine atop Escarole, additional Secondi consisted of Sin City’s most robustly flavored Meatballs, the thick bed of Fontina Cheese Polenta and Sauce with some Heat building a true “Secondi” out of something usually offered as a Side Dish.
Adding a trio of Pastas, Rigatoni alla Grappa with Spring Peas and Sundried Tomatoes riffing on Vodka Sauce with impressive results, fans of Gnocchi need look no further than Locale for the lightest Potato Dumplings in Las Vegas, their buoyancy a brilliant foil to slowly-simmered Tomatoes and Pork Ragu while Seafood ‘Fra Diavola’ brought complex heat to fresh Shellfish and Di Napoli Tomatoes.
Doubling down on Dessert, Bombolini with the lightness of Malasada as delicious on their own as when dipped in Nutella, fans of Cheesecake need to make their way to Locale as soon as possible for a version that eats smooth yet slightly crumbly, dubbed “New York Brulee” but almost Basque in flavor.
Italian kitchen in Mountain’s Edge
At the very Western end of a bustling strip mall in the Mountain’s Edge community in southwest Las Vegas sits an Italian kitchen that is worth a drive regardless of where you reside in the city.
Although I opted for the Blue Crab Black spaghetti, the standout item is the Scarpariello chicken entree. Normally I tend to discriminate against chicken entrees at restaurants (as they can be uninspired), but this is amazing. It is just perfectly cooked.
New Chef, but possibly even better than before!
According to some estimates the economic impact of SARS-CoV-2 could be as many as 1/3 of America’s Restaurants, and although Locale Italian Kitchen continued to serve Las Vegas as both a market and take-out operation from the pandemic’s earliest days it now functions with Graffiti Bao’s Marc Marrone leading the Kitchen.
A shocking occurrence to many, James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef Southwest Nicole Brisson departing the Restaurant she helped build less than ten months in, sources suggest it was a mutual decision between Nicole and partner Andy Hooper that saw Tao Group’s former-corporate Executive Chef step in, and give Marrone’s decade-long involvement with Lavo at The Palazzo the good news is that the transition will seem seamless to most guests.
Now established as a cornerstone of southwest Las Vegas near Mountains Edge, an area long in need of culinary destinations, Phase One of Nevada’s reopening sees Locale offering dine-in and take-away from Tuesday through Sunday, the menu still regional Italian with added family recipes while prices are a bargain considering both Ingredients and portions.
Allowing Chef Marc and General Manager Paulo Duran to self-select a catering menu, trust earned across a combined six events over the past four months, it was at 11:30am that both men and Mr. Hooper arrived porting several trays and boxes tallying fifteen all-new menu items in total.
Professionally packed and temperature appropriate, a Chop Salad making Kale appealing via smoky Tomato Dressing plus Shallots and Peppers, suffice it to say that housemade Garlic & Mozzarella Bread is a big step-up from outsourced Baguette and Focaccia served prior, while Pizzas formerly oblong are now round and decidedly more complex thanks to 96-hour fermented Dough that remains soft and pliable at the center of a charred cornicione.
Truly a pillar of the community, Marc’s involvement in “Delivering with Dignity” not slowing down one bit despite an expansion of duties, those who’ve tried any of Graffiti Bao’s Vegetables will be unsurprised that Contorni at Locale adhere to an equally high standard, Broccolini and Potatoes each simple yet appetizing while Rainbow Carrots are texturally masterful and coaxed to peak flavor with Butter and a bit of Honey.
Adding a pair of Pastas, spicy Shrimp served on Rigatoni rather than Black Spaghetti for the sake of catering, fans of Gnocchi need look no further than Locale for the lightest Potato Dumplings in Las Vegas, their buoyancy a brilliant foil to slowly-simmered Tomatoes and Pork replicating Nana’s Sunday Gravy.
Giving Anita credit for one of Sin City’s most robustly flavored Meatballs, the thick bed of Fontina Cheese Polenta and Sauce with some Heat building a true “Secondi” out of something usually offered as a Side Dish, Scarpariello Chicken serves as a lean Protein lacking not for flavor while Locale’s evolving Dessert Menu features jumbo Bombolini that eat lighter than their size might suggest plus a moist yet toothsome seasonal Yogurt Cake.
Hidden Gem
Tucked in at the far end of a shopping complex in Blue Diamond rd and Buffalo in the Mountains Edge community in Las Vegas, I sought this place at my friend's recommendation for my birthday dinner (where she herself also celebrated her own birthday a few days ago). Service and food par excellence. The frito misto seafood for starters was exquisite. For my main entree I had the squid ink pasta with the highly visible prawns and lobster. Fantastico. I discovered my new fave beer here. I think it's called Dave's little yella plus (the first item selection under the draft beer on the menu). Lemony and light. Love it! AND the music they played are sooo my era, the 80s (angel in the centerfold, Johnny hates jazz among others). Will try the charred squid and caesar's salad next time. Oh yeah, will definitely be a next time.
Be the first to ReplyQuaint, friendly and delicious!
My husband and I arrived around 7 PM, we enjoyed a wonderfully friendly, but not overbearing staff. The wine and food menu was excellent and reminded us of our recent anniversary trip to Italy! When the food arrived, it was DELICIOUS! It was my birthday and I was treated to a flour free chocolate delight!
Nestled in a strip mall, so don't let that deter you...it is a genuine gem!
