THIS PARK IS SO ADORABLE.
It's definitely very artificial feeling, but like this is nyc so duh, it fits the vibe. You get a really great view of the skyline and it's a really nice walk around the island. Some stairs and inclines to get to the top viewpoint. I really enjoy looking out at the water. I just kind of stood here and stared for a while and it was so relaxing. On a gloomy day, if you put on some sad olivia rodrigo music and walk along here, you'll definitely feel it.
Be the first to ReplyCute small oasis in the city.
Has amphitheater facing the water and trails to walk on. It would be beautiful on a sunny warm day.

The third-best park in Manhattan is not a must-see, but I would ask everyone in the area to make it part of their day trip when visiting Pier 54, the Whitney, High Line, Chelsea Market, and Starbucks Reserve, all within 800 feet. Barry Diller spent $280 million on this park. I appreciate having a beautiful, free park, but next time, don't get the guy who spent 1.9 billion on Ask Jeeves to be in charge of the budget. Basically, the 2.3 acre artificial island is a nice walk, with winding paths going uphill with seasonally changing, contrasting gardens (350 different species of flora), congregation areas, a small stage, lawns (2 small, 1 main), the 687 seat "Amph" amphitheater (the investors made sure 51% of ticketed events were under $30), observation points, a "secret garden" (all white flora), and art fixtures, including the Glockenspiel Sound Board, which plays six flat notes when stepped on. Think the piano from "Big"... blowing a booger out its nose.

Beautiful refuge of an island off an island! Meandering pathways let you wander amid the greenery and lead you to special spots as a treat.

Very beautiful park shaped like an island!! Lots of colorful tree's throughout! There are different pockets of the park too. Vendors were selling food and drinks! Sat at an amphitheater to cool down, and had a lovely view of the ocean!! Could see New Jersey too! It was very busy when we went; but there were still lots of spaces to sit and enjoy the park! It 's also free!! Would highly recommend for everyone of all ages
Be the first to ReplyThis is a magical place in the evening.
Absolutely must visit this free gem in the city that never sleeps. I am guessing it is gorgeous year round. I don't know how busy it gets during the shows, but it was very peaceful when I went there and the guided tour was a cherry on top.

This is a wonderful park! I love all of the interactive play spaces. It's very clean as well. You can see a great view of the city from the top of the hill. This would be an awesome space in the spring and summer! I would return!
Be the first to Replythis was an area of the city.
I have never visited previous to my most recent trip to New York. It is yet another cool area. I am particularly intrigued by the show calendar I saw. I would love for a future visit to coincide with an event there, as I think it must be a really special place to see a show.

I heard about this man made island in NYC and wasn't sure what to expect. So I did the only thing that a curious tourist could, come investigate. It's a really cool addition to the area. It's not that large but has a few things on it. There's a walking path that leads to a few view points to take pics in and around the river. There's also a area that looks like it's made to put on plays in the park. Outside of that there was an area with some seating and a food truck. If you came by to chill, this isn't like the other parks in town as seating seems limited but it's a cool drop in and out until you hit up other sights in the area.

Nice place to spend your time! It's little (as it says in it's title;)) but it has many attractions, nice views of the city and many events!
Be the first to ReplyNice spot in the city for a walk or sit or picnic.
Honestly not that big and can get crowded. The top and amphitheater area are nice to sit at and look over the water.

The Little Island- you know, kinda like Venice built on stilts, but this one on the Hudson River. Such a unique garden conceived by Diane von Furstenberg and husband Barry Diller. In fact the design reminds me of her stiletto heels. The public park contains little play areas, a large amphitheater and the walking paths offer beautiful vistas of lower Manhattan. It really is just an interesting Little Island.

Tourist spot overlooking the water fun for the family alongside the Hudson River and go right into Meatpacking to explore food drinks shopping.

this is cute if you're in the area by Chelsea market and want a nice place to walk around! It was very crowded when we went, however. Especially when you got to the top with the better view there is a lot more people up there. It is kind of small. It is nice to check out once but I don't think that I would return. There was nothing too special about the place, except for its unique design. With the crowds, and it's smaller than expected size it was an OK experience.

It was a cool experience checking out this newly built little island. We were walking and stumbled upon this place. They had some cool interactive things to play with and the views were great
Be the first to ReplyWe visited the little island in June.
It was a fun thing to do in New York! It was a little crowded during a Saturday so that is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyThis island is like no other that I've seen.
It's surrounded by water and lots of foliage that make it seem like an oasis and away from the city. I was able to sit and take it all in and just look at the skyine and enjoy not having to hear sirens and noise that comes with being in the city. I observed walkers, runners, and cyclists going down the labeled paths, if you want to take pictures of the entrance, I suggest you move out of their way! I observed ppl just standing in the lanes and not being respectful of those that were out exercising. I was wandering around after leaving Chelsea market and ended up here. The Highline is down the street as well, check out both if you're in the area!
Be the first to ReplyArrived here at like 4pm.
The sunset is beautiful. It's a small park here. It was so cold. Wear more when u go there. There is really not much to do. Just walked around and saw the view. Relax and chill.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a nice surprise when we went to the Whitney.
It's a new park on the Hudson around 13th Street. The visuals feel a little like Gaudi- it has lots of curves and round lines. A couple of ampitheaters- a huge one, and a small one by the bathrooms on the left near the entrance- create a space for something interesting.

I spent most of my long-anticipated first visit, on a freezing cold day, chasing after a very fast toddler (his mom's a super marathoner, so he's clearly not fallen far from the tree!) and praying that his tiny legs wouldn't propel him into the water, but I was still able to appreciate this lovely park and it's spectacular views. I want to say we planned this but we accidentally arrived just before sunset (magic hour) and the views were just breathtaking. When we first arrived, the upper levels were closed due to strong wind, but a very nice park employee saw us again about 20min later and told us it had opened up. But don't take my word for it, check out the pics. I'm sure on a milder day this place is mobbed but maybe on a weekday evening it might be calmer. So try your luck and check it out!
Be the first to ReplyWent here last night for the first time.
Finding parking can be a little hard because of the clubs on the opposite site of the highway. This is the perfect place to see beautiful views of the city and Jersey City. Will definitely be back during a nice cool summer day. I was also surprised by how clean the bathrooms are...spacious and no towel on the floor. This is a spot to work outside.

Why haven't I visited this amazing place before?! Came here with a good friend last weekend and was blown away by the unique space located right along the water in Meatpacking District. My favorite part about it was hanging out in the amphitheater and people watching. Apparently there was some kind of show that was set to happen but it was canceled due to pending rain. So instead, people starting randomly going down to the center of the stage and doing all sorts of fun silly things, such as handstands or dancing. It was actually a very fun and impromptu time, shared with a bunch of fellow strangers. Only in New York =)

I took my two-year-old to New York a couple weeks ago, and as I was already planning to show him the High Line before dinner in Chelsea, one of my friends recommended a visit to Little Island. The name of the place had me thinking it might be hard to get to, like maybe we'd have to ride a boat, but it really is less than a five-minute walk from the High Line. It's a beautiful little man-made island on the Hudson River, an interesting piece of architecture, a 2.4-acre public park spread out across dozens of columns that look like long-stemmed concrete tulips blooming with greenery.I actually went twice in a single day, once before dinner with my mom and son, and once after with my husband, who was interested in seeing this new park that had apparently caused much ire among the neighbors throughout its development. I don't know, I'm not rabidly pro-development or anything, but if I randomly owned an expense piece of real estate along the Hudson River, I feel like I'd like this place? It's pretty striking and useful, and it provides a public good where there used to be nothing. The toddler loved it. He wanted to look at the boats, and he wanted to go up the walkways, and he wanted to climb down the amphitheater. The only thing he didn't like was having to hold my hand or be in a stroller, as there was so much to see he just wanted to run around as he pleased. (His greatest act of defiance in his 27 months of life: making a break for it when I gave him the choice of hand or stroller, and throwing a small tantrum when his grandmother cut him off at the pass.) It was a lovely place to spend time with my family, with lots of places to walk and wonderful views from easy-to-reach lookout points (I'm quite pregnant and unathletic to begin with, and I was able to make it to the highest point twice in a day). I thought it was equally attractive before and after sunset. There were a lot of people on Little Island, and it felt pleasantly vibrant but overall quite calm on a Tuesday. There were places to get food and drink, too, and though we only needed a soda, I'm sure we would've appreciated the other options on a different day. We enjoyed our time on Little Island and would love to come back whenever we're in New York, especially if we're traveling with kids.
Be the first to Replythis park isn't all that.
NYC why did you waste money on this?? its literally next to the highline which is way better! too many people that you have to squeeze by going up the hill to the top. its really nothing special. you have to reserve a time to go here my friend told me, which is weird becuz no one checked us lol. i don't get the hype. theres a few places to eat but nothing i wanted to buy.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a cool spot! It's definitely very unique.
I highly recommend going at a time of day when it's not so warm so you can fully enjoy it. There are so many little nooks to discover. They have a truck with refreshments in the center. It's a nice place to sit and listen to the locals play music.
