Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum Austin Reviews from The Last Year

Our go to place for dim sum brunch !! It never fails to satisfy our dim sum cravings and we love that they have lots of pescatarian options. Love most of their dumplings from the steam section. Tip: Try their weekend brunch. Parking can be a challenge during busy hours. Suggestion: would love to see some hand pulled noodles or lamb soup dumplings on the menu :)

My Wife and I came here as I was excited to take her to Dumplings Dumplings. The specialty soup dumplings were very nice. The spinach dumplings were a bit insipid. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken with Cashew Nut. The serving size was very small and it was over powered by Vinegar. This dish is very over priced and is a not very nice
I've been to Lin's a few times now and every time I come
I've been to Lin's a few times now and every time I come back, I have to get their soup dumplings because I personally think they have THE best soup dumplings in Austin! Each dumpling is filled with a generous amount of flavorful broth while still maintaining a thin outer skin. Their cocktails are also delicious (can't go wrong with their classic Lychee Martini) if you're looking for Asian-fusion drink options. That being said, the inside space can be a bit too dark for my own personal preference (some find it romantic but that's not me lol) and prices can be quite high for some of their entree options. For example, the Sesame Chicken was almost $30 and I was shocked that the entree didn't come with a bowl of rice by default...yes, the rice bowls were only $3 extra but for the cost of rice and the amount we actually got, $3 is still $3 too much when it should have came with an entree order (but again, my personal opinion haha). Overall, I've been back a few times now because it's a cute date spot and the soup dumplings are worth coming back for! :)
Man, this one is special.
.. To start, Chef Ling's restaurant and menu easily ranks in the top 3 culinary experiences of my life. Our server, Theodore Kyle, ensured a smooth and courteous dining experience and he even picked up that we had a birthday in the group and gave us a cute cat mousse dessert. As for the food, our experience was the more "adventurous" you were with the menu, the better. Our server recommended almost our whole meal, and he did a fantastic job. Every flavor was very unique and complex, and truly inspirational. The duck smoked in oolong tea was a must for any first-timer!! We got soup dumplings (best I've had by far), shumai, garlic shrimp, lo mein, dummy rice, duck, and I could not recommend any of the dishes more. The only thing we had that was mid was the sesame chicken, which was good, but not life-changing. The food pictures are blurry because we destroyed the food in seconds. If you are considering going out for dinner, I can not recommend this place enough. We will be back. Hats off to all the hosts, servers, chefs, etc.

Delicious food! We got the soup dumplings, Hawaii chicken, and dummy rice. Soooo good.. my favorite dumplings so far in Austin. And the chicken was so YUM! After the fact, I was told it was GF and sugar free.. WHAT!? You would have never known, considering how delicious it was! Our server, I believe his name was Martin, was so incredibly nice! Told us his favorites and was attentive. Just overall very kind and helpful since it was our first time, no judgement. The place was crammed, but in a way that made you think "this is going to be goooood." Given how small the space is & how many people try to come here.. I'd say they did a fantastic job setting the scene. Beautifully decorated and maybe a bit TMI, but the toilet seats are heated, lol!! 5 stars!
We had a fantastic culinary experience at this
We had a fantastic culinary experience at this establishment. It was the best way we could've introduced my mom to Texas. The ambience is very clean, well lit, with a beautiful east Asian inspired rustic interior and a beautiful bar where you can sit for alcoholic drinks if you desire . The staff was very friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu . As you can see, we got a smorgasbord of food. We wanted to try a little bit of everything. Everything was delicious. I could tell the people in the kitchen know how to cook because the meat was always tender, and never too dry, which many restaurants make the tragic mistake of doing. My favorite dish was the duck. I've never had anything so delicious. And the alcoholic beverages are so creative and refreshing. For dessert, we brought home the Ube cheesecake and the chocolate bulldog. Both were immaculately creamy and flavorful. I have a pretty good eye for cooking and I like to think that I have good taste. These desserts were made with the finest ingredients and freshness in mind. For our next celebration, we will be back ...

I know I came in within an hour of closing, but still the service left a bit to be desired. I didn't appreciate him cleaning around me. The food is delicious, though.

My family and I chose to have dinner here and the food was very good. I don't want to reduce stars for this, but want to share an area they could improve in... I'm both Vegan and Gluten Free and saw through a quick skim online of the menu they could accommodate, so we went. When we arrived the waitress asked about any dietary concerns or allergies and I shared them with her and she looked slightly confused and then pointed out ONE thing and said it's what I could have... I mentioned I'd seen other things listed as Vegan and Gf online so I asked specifically about the salt and pepper tofu, which was listed as such and one of the things I wanted. She said it wasn't Vegan and neither was the other things I asked about. I then asked her to just please ask the cook what the vegan GF options were or what could be modified. She came back and told me they could make the S &P tofu Vegan. I ended up having nice dinner, but it was confusing that things that were clearly marked vegan online were not vegan according to the waitress. I feel as a customer, if you are going to ask about dietary concerns and allergies it should be followed up with informed guidance to assist in ordering. I hate to feel like I need to prod someone for information, especially when I can get very sick if they are trained on the menu and what it means. The other people in my party have no dietary restrictions and really loved the food and it's definitely worth a visit. I just thought I'd share my experience for anyone else who may have any special dietary needs.
Such a tasty place! It is always packed so I recommend
Such a tasty place! It is always packed so I recommend making a reservation. Their soup dumplings (what they're known for) live to their word, so delicious. First time I ever tried sui mai fried/crispy & it was a unique taste. We got the duck and the pork shank. The meat was so tender and flavorful. A bit of more fat on the duck than I expected but still a divine taste. The guy next to us bought us a drink and the flower on top completely made the taste of alcohol disappear (it was like a numbing feeling)! On our reservation, we had added that we were celebrating our anniversary and our server told us she had a suprise and came out with this adorable ice cream shaped as a hedgehog. Will definitely be visiting again next time we are in Austin.
We were recommended this spot by some friends.
It was great! I really enjoyed the soup dumplings (my wife wasn't the biggest fan), but we also got sesame chicken & noodles. I would definitely recommend for a nice date night spot!
Incredible Dim Sum
We were in Austin for 10 days and tried to eat here once before but it was so busy we couldn’t get in. Luckily the last day, we were lucky enough to get in, and I’m so glad we did 11am on a Saturday morning and the place was packed. Wonderful restaurant with a great laid back feel to the place. The staff were great and did not hurry you. We chose many things off the dim sum menu. Har gau, five of them. The same with the Sui Mai. Cashew and chicken dumpling, sausage rice all washed down with jasmine tea. It really doesn’t get much better. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Food and service was good until someone forgot my beef low mein. Already ate all of our food and the low mein still didn't arrive then we ask they told us its cooking. But they still haven't cooked it. We waited and got it. It was salty. Didn't finish it, but we still gave them 20%+ tip.

The reason for my 2 star review was because I ordered the scalloped pancake and it was hard as a rock but the curry dipping sauce was really flavorful but the prices for the food was really high and the food was mid. The lo-main was really greasing. The service was ok they forgot about us multiple times. The ambiance for the restaurant was pretty but really cramped.
This was my third time here and still amazing as ever.
I love to sit outside but it had a lovely inside. The service was fast and friendly. The food was so delicious. My favorite has always been the soup dumplings but the general Tso chicken was also flavorful. I love the lychee martini as well. Make sure to get a reservation and arrive on time! I will be coming back!

It was a cute restaurant but considering the prices what for you get, it's not worth it. Super overpriced. Service was okay. Save your money and go to P.f. Chang's.
Good food & friendly service.
It gets busy so best make a reservation but tables turn over sooner rather than later if you can wait.

This place was very cozy and quite popular on the weekends, reservations are recommended, The food is good, the pricing is a bit higher than expected, but the portions are also a bit bigger than other dim sum places. We tried char siu puff pastry and crispy turnip cake. So good! Outside seating is very tight, especially with heat lamps. Definitely must try if you can get it. There is a limited parking in the back.

Service was good- our waitress was attentive and provided recs. Restaurant is packed with tables so it can get a bit loud, but it's good vibes and there's also patio seating. There's parking in the back and on the street. The seafood soup dumpling is a must have. The bokchoy and mushrooms were cooked well, but weren't as seasoned as we hoped. The chicken sui mai was great. The orange peel beef was great in flavor, but was a bit tough in texture and hard to cut and eat.
Ambiance is great as is service! The food was also tasty.
We ordered as a group so I got to try quite a few dishes! The Shanghai soup dumplings were our favorite! The broth in the dumplings is rich and flavorful. The shrimp with mushroom bao had a really nice filling but the bao bread wasn't bao bread. Crispy sui mai was good I just did not like it personally. The volcano crispy shrimp was so crunchy with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The kung pao chicken was good but not memorable. Lastly the Hakka eggplant was definitely worth a try. If you have a birthday they will give you an animal shaped sorbet, it's really cute! I would go back solely for those soup dumplings!
Quaint old house setting with seating in front covered
Quaint old house setting with seating in front covered porch and bar. This is a near, dining like experience with cloth napkins and other nice table settings. It feels a little cramped inside with the seating so close, so it has a bistro effect rather than a restaurant. I ordered the Napa cabbage salad which was finely chopped and silky sesame dressing. I also ordered the sui mai, which was fried with an oali sauce. Nice food. $40 lunch with hot tea included tip.

The hype is correct! I am beyond happy with the quality of food! Pipping hot soup dumplings with homemade broth! The service was fast and staff knowledgeable. There is a waitlist for a reason and your taste buds will thank you.
Great find!
Never had Dim Sum, which is why we chose this place. It was GREAT! We had the soup dim sum as an appetizer and it didn’t disappoint. Entrees were not bad either. Sat outside, appreciate the heaters provided, as it was a cold night. Can’t wait to come back!
