Le Rock New York Reviews from The Last Year
Perfect location.
Solid ambiance, but more for an after work dinner than romantic vibes. Service was friendly and prompt but we did get there right upon opening so it was not packed. I recommend the snails and leeks. I found the leeks to be absolutely delicious.
Le Rock in Rockefeller Center is a polished French
Le Rock in Rockefeller Center is a polished French restaurant serving well dressed patrons (we spotted Alexander Wang dining at the table next to us) delicious French classics. We started off our meal with sardines, cerevelle de canut and baguette, and adorable seasonal barbajuans. For appetizers we savored the leeks vinaigrette dressed tableside and agnolotti with chanterelle tomato rich with umami flavor. Mains were the striped bass clams haricots, saucisse au comte, and steak hache served with the some of the most perfect French fries I've had in NYC. We ended the impressive spread with gorgeously prepared profiteroles topped with a rich chocolate sauce and fresh cream. Le Rock is a welcome addition to Rockefeller center and is a place to impress a client or special occasion meal for a boujee date

UPDATE: we finally returned to Le Rock after several months for a birthday dinner with friends, and if anything, the food has gotten even better. Things started off on a very festive note with complimentary glasses of excellent champagne. Everyone was thrilled with their dinner choices: the famous Leeks Vinaigrette, then the Ris-de-Veau; Sardine Escabeche, then the Canard aux Epices; the Pâté Maison, then the Rice Pilaf; and the Escargots Bourguignons, then the Steak Haché. The second courses were accompanied by perfect frites, and all four of us will be forever grateful for our server's suggestion to keep the vinaigrette sauce from the leeks, as a dip for the fries. For dessert, we ordered a Baba for the table, and they were kind enough to also send out their Vacherin, and Les Mignardises (a tempting dish of assorted sweets) as an extra birthday treat. It was, quite simply, a truly wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you, Le Rock!
Terrible service.
Waitress continuously tried to upsell and bully us into ordering more than we wanted. Then, presented a fourth dessert, when we had ordered three, and charged us for it.
Lovely space, consistently great food and Estelle Bossy
Lovely space, consistently great food and Estelle Bossy runs the best cocktail program in town. Don't assume it's touristy because it's Rockefeller Center, this is a fun and truly great restaurant.
Food reasonable but prices joke
Was greeted by a quite aggressive guy who couldn’t find my booking - which I specifically confirmed myself earlier in the day. Nice ambiance but noisy. Service was decent and food better than average - BUT so expensive its a joke. Wouldn’t return as so many other options.

The food and cocktails were wonderful, but service could've been better. I think our server was trying to emulate the French vibes a bit too much with his lackadaisical attitude. We were dressed for walking NYC when we decided to stop in for brunch and no issues with getting a table. I'd however describe the space as classy, especially for dinner.

I had this restaurant on my bucket list, and initially, I went because it was NYC Restaurant Week 2024. I had dinner with my friend. The ambiance is intimate, and people were a little more dressed up. We ended up ordering a la carte because there were some dishes I wanted to try. I ordered a rose and my friend went red. The server was knowledgeable of the food and drink options, but service was slow. We started with the escargots and agnolotti. The escargots were very herby compared to the ones we've had at other French restaurants. The agnolotti was very good and worth ordering. For the main entrées, we ordered the bison au poivre and heritage chicken. The bison was lean and filling, but the cost was steep for the quantity. The fries were good, though, and took those home. The chicken was very good, and the portion was generous. The cost of the chicken dish was on par with portion served. We had to skip dessert because we had a train/Uber ride to catch. I may return to this spot to try their duck dish or explore their prix fixe lunch menu.

Wonderful restaurant Beautiful Setting , gorgeous and delicious food. Every thing about this restaurant is special from the service to the perfect choice of cutlery and plates and colors of the room. The food was overall delicious and I would definitely return . One suggestion I have here a for the bread service I wish there was also a good Pain Poilane type of bread as well as the baguette very doable these days with some delicious bakeries finally opening in NY.
The duck confit and seafood soup is perfect.
However other dishes are only to the standard. It is still a good experience to try this restaurant
Bring earplugs or better yet don’t come!
The food is good but the noise situation is totally out of control. Management calls it “lively” and plays background music to encourage people to yell even louder. Hard reflective surfaces everywhere. Banquette seating very tightly packed in. $80 for the least expensive bottle of wine. Never again!
It's 3.
2 to be exact. We came to try its restaurant week menu. It's one of those restaurants that I don't necessarily have to try but I would for restaurant week. If you know what I mean. The RW menu was super simple, which only had 2 choices in every category. We just doubled every item on the menu for the 4 of us. The duck confit and cauliflower potato soup stole the show. The duck was fall off the bone tender that my friend who doesn't normally like duck even approved it. We also added the bread, steak with bone marrow, and fries additionally. The steak with bone marrow was not a piece of steak at all. It was just chopped meat formed it like a steak, which was not specified on the menu. We wouldn't have ordered it if we knew. Both the profiterole and passionfruit dessert were too rich and I had much better profiteroles elsewhere. Service was on the slow side, which we were okay with it cuz we're chatting. However, our server seemed like he's not happy to serve us the whole night. Not only had no smile, but also looked annoyed. Also, the noice level here was pretty high that it's definitely not date friendly.
Tried Le Rock for lunch over the summer and dined again
Tried Le Rock for lunch over the summer and dined again recently for a private event. We had a small room and the service was really attentive and hospitable. The staff were really nice and knowledgeable. The food was excellent: Seafood tower was fresh and succulent Bread and spreads were very French (delicious) Escargot's were perfectly cooked with pesto and garlic (and butter) Duck confit had a perfectly crisp skin and cooked to perfection We had a variety of delicious deserts A great spot for dinner or lunch
Crazy expensive for subpar food and drink!
The food was awful, the 3oz pour of terrible Rose wine was $23! The pumpkin fritter was plain pumpkin puree in what tasted like an oyster cracker, hard and dry. They charge $9 for a mediocre bread basket. Go any where else!!!

I hate to have to amend my review - but, unfortunately, the service, which was so wonderfully warm when we first visited has not remained consistent. The restaurant is still beautiful with a view of the iconic Rockefeller Center (especially festive during the holidays). However, the service was rushed and not nearly as welcoming as it had been. The dessert is still worth a trip alone, but the food did not blow us away this time either. I hope that the atmosphere and standards Le Rock began with can return.
Great Experience
Visited while on a girls NYC at Christmas trip. Everyone that worked here was so nice and accommodating. The food was great from start to finish. We did have a little hiccup with a chateaubriand being served a little too rare. It was immediately removed and returned with many apologies. When the check arrived we had been comped the entree and most of our drinks. It was agreed that they went above and beyond to make sure we left happy even though we weren’t unhappy to begin with.
Lyonnaise cuisine and natural wines
The Hanson/Nasr duo does it again with this ´power brasserie´ in Rockefeller Plaza. Magnificent room with a great atmosphere. Lyon-inspired cuisine well executed, good without being transcendent. Choice of sophisticated sommelier with a strong natural orientation (6-7 Cossard cuvees) ideal for the demanding amateur. Overall a little cold but nevertheless very appreciable
A Stop Worth Making.
Met for small plates before a dinner someplace else in the neighborhood. A busy place that holds a wonderous presence in a time honored building. Topo Chico water and Einbecker NA Lager are so modern and went nicely with Barbajuans and Calamari Brochettes. All around are some eating there and some going elsewhere as it should be in the center of food in America. A stop worth making if only to admire the view.
Unwelcoming
Nice food. Rude service from one waiter or Maitre’D I can’t be sure - certainly wasn’t a congenial host. Things got off to a bad start when he rolled his eyes at us, first in frustration that we had been talking and weren’t ready to order and then when we asked questions about the menu. Dreadful. Sommelier much more helpful but the Chablis recommended was not right. While warned it was a little young it was actively fizzy. Other waiters were charming but am afraid I was terribly put off by the opening. Wouldn’t go again.
Stone Cold Drinks
Le Rock is incredibly convenient if you need a place for a drink close to Rockefeller Center. I am accustomed to paying a premium for location, but this place is over the top. I say this even though my drinks are on an expense account! Nice people here, but our waiter seemed to vanish quite a bit. With so many other options in the city, I would look elsewhere.
Expensive
Le Rock is a nice bar and restaurant in the Rockefeller Plaza near the ice rink. It’s trendy and it’s expensive. Worth a look.
Service with a beautiful smile
Although we were unable to sample the fine fare and only sat outside for drinks, we were made to feel most welcome by the manager, Sara, and our delightful waitress, Zoe, who appreciated our business however small. The atmosphere was highly energetic chic, and the decor tasteful and inviting. We will definitely come back for for dinner on our next trip.
