Lai Hong Lounge San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Pretty reasonable dim sum and given today's prices, not bad.
Mostly 4 stars. Get there by 10am when if opens on weekends or come around 11:30 for the second seating. Otherwise, you'll be waiting a while.
Really excellent dim sum place.
Recently redecorated. Great staff. Lovely food. Don't miss the baked pork buns -- you can't get them everywhere; juicy BBQ pork filling, melt-in-your-mouth pastry, topped with just the right amount of sugar. A savory and sweet winner.
Nestled on the border of North Beach and Chinatown in San
Nestled on the border of North Beach and Chinatown in San Francisco, Lai Hong Lounge combines tradition, innovation, and a touch of mystery. Whether you're a dim sum aficionado or a curious food explorer, this spot won't disappoint. The Dim Sum menu boasts all the classic items, exceptionally well and delicious. The dinner menu, from Peking duck with buns, soul-warming soup, the Dan Li Seafood Clay Pot (spicy alert!), and the lightly fried seabass with shredded green onions and what have you, not to mention fresh oysters, flavorful lily bulb soup and the fresh herbal Jello dessert! Just the Baked BBQ Pork Buns--a sweet-crusted bun stuffed with BBQ goodness worth every mile you drive into the city. BTW- No worries about communication with the staff or struggling with your Google translate app! the friendly manager ensures a pleasant experience. (Kaz - 2023)
Made a reservation for a large party.
They saved us the private room. Service was attentive. Food was decent. They was an automatic 20% service fee for the private room. However, the prices were very reasonable. Would I go again? Sure. But will probably pass on the private room.
Excellent service.
Authentic Hong Kong Style Dim Sum. THE BEST!!!! Dim sum also available during dinner. Beautiful private rooms newly renovated and clean.
One of the best Dim Sum spots in San Francisco on Powell,
One of the best Dim Sum spots in San Francisco on Powell, St. on the border of North Beach and Chinatown. The interior is reminiscent of an old style banquet hall that's been completely remodeled. You place your order by checking off the items you want on the menu. While communicating with wait staff is difficult, the manger was friendly and helpful. The menu has the standard dim sum items all are delicious, the Baked Bbq Pork Buns are the best I have had, a Sweet Crusted Bun stuffed with Bbq is worth the drive into the City.
The food was not that great 2/5.
Some dim sum dishes were very expensive , the shrimp dumpling $7.80, over price. Service was just ok. They automatically charge a 18% tip. I feel that I should be able to choose my own tips.
Food is delicious and flavorful.
It is a bit small of a place but i don't mind it because the food is good. I like order the bunny shrimp dumplings and the shui mei . I recommend coming here!
I met my Meetup group for dim sum at LaI Hong Lounge during
I met my Meetup group for dim sum at LaI Hong Lounge during Chinese New Years celebration. This restaurant has been on Check Please Bay Area, and is in the Michelin restaurant guide. The food is very good for the price- the restaurant was largely filled with Chinese families enjoying their meal. A colorful dragon made his way around the room, especially delighting the children. if you are in the area, also pay a visit to TaI Yick Trading Company - wonderful traditional ceramics!
The dim sum at this place is one of the best in the San
The dim sum at this place is one of the best in the San Francisco Bay Area, but you need to put up with the extremely crowded and tight space between tables inside the restaurant, the long wait for tables, the chaos of people trying to get a number to put themselves on the list for the tables, the noisiness inside the restaurant so this is definitely not a place for a good conversation, and the hard-to-find street parking situation in Chinatown. If you can endure all of these nuisances and are determined to enjoy some good dim sum, join the queue to get your number for the next table available.
The food was 4/5 it was very good.
The portions are not very big but they are very tasty. We enjoyed the sizzling rice soup it was savory and simple. The stuffed eggplant dim sum was flavorful. The broccoli beef was underwhelming . The mixed fried rice was yummy! The customer service was good they are very quick. The servers are super quiet and don't smile or really look at you so it makes it feel a little awkward. The hostess was very nice and had a warm personality. The bathroom was a little dirty they did not have toilet seat covers and they had just opened for dinner service. My biggest complaint is that they selected the gratuity for themselves. We were a party of two and they tipped themselves 18% without asking.
I can see why they are popular.
Went for dinner. $119 menu with peking duck with buns, soup, and a choice of four dishes on their special menu. Dan li seafood clay pot (skip if you don't like spicy). I can taste it even when we ask for very little spice, not much seafood, mostly tofu. Pea greens, very tender with garlic. Seabass, lightly fried with lots of shredded green onions. Very yummy. Oysters with green onions. At least a dozen oysters. Very fresh. For dessert, guoling goa. If you don't like it, they will give a cookie instead. It was really good herbal jello. The soup was lily bulb soup with pork. It was flavorful. Great dinner! They open for dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. There were only three tables with customers.
Our family enjoyed our dinner
We enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. My husband and I are vegetarians while our son is a true carnivore. We started with the mushroom egg rolls, which I thought was the star of the dinner. Our son ordered the beef chow fun and really liked it, though he did comment it was slightly salty. My husband ordered The braised tofu with mushrooms. It had a very light sauce, not heavy or salty. I ordered a dish I canโt remember the name of at the servers suggestion. It was multiple mushroom varieties with an egg tofu (creamy and fried, cut into medallions) in a light sauce. It was different from any other dish I have had and very tasty. The staff was very nice! They chased us down when my husband forgot his phone.
Best Dim Sum Iโve Enjoyed in SF
Highly recommend! Every dish was excellent. All the traditional dumplings and many new sich as Spinach Dumplings with a fabulous mushroom filling. If you like ribs def order the Coffee Pork Ribs. The Purple Yam Buns so pretty and tasty in their own way. Next time Iโll try the Curry Beef Dumplings and the Preserved veg and Beef Rice Noodles. Snapped a pic from another dinerโs table and they loved the dish.
Amazing Dim Sum in a nice atmosphere for not much money.
In San Francisco's Chinatown. We filled up on a lot of very tasty treats, then I was surprised at how little the bill was. My only complaint is that the tables are not very strong when folded out to make them larger. You donโt want to lean on the edge of the table.
Excellent Find!
We noticed a long line here on a Sunday morning so we tried it for dinner. The food was excellent, service was fantastic and atmosphere was lovely. The tea was complimentary and delicious. My favorite dishes were the beef curry dumplings, shrimp dumplings and pan fried pot stickers. I would absolutely return and recommend to others.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venueโs rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a responseโฆ how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been โmatchedโ with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Give the best answerConcierge change fulfillment time
I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming โbotsโ and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately itโs become like any other โside hustleโ. Donโt waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also donโt pay these fake โgurusโ hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. ๐
