Horrible Service
Let me start by saying that I didn’t give the establishment 2 stars based upon the food but instead the service. I will give my honest review based upon my experience at Lagos on the evening of Sunday February 26th 2023 once we arrived around 7pm. We had a reservation for 7 guest in celebration of a birthday but they sat us at a table that was clearly only large enough to seat 5 guest comfortably. Luckily 2 guest were unable to attend (which the server was unaware of) so the table ended up working out because the server clearly could care less about our comfortability because when we reminded her, we possibly had 2 more guest who would be joining us, she said that it was the only table available. If the other 2 guest had actually came we would have literally been sitting on each other laps. Our servers name was Oluwatosin A. (check#248, table 201) and she received a nice tip of about $85 which we thought she did not deserve. Once seated, we immediately felt rushed. She came for our drink order and said it was mandatory that we order our appetizers and entrees at the same time. We all felt some type of way about this demand because that isn’t usually the way an order is taken, not to mention the fact that we didn’t have time to really decide what we really wanted to eat and view the menu extensively because of the rush but we complied and made a expedited decision. Normally your drinks come out, followed by your appetizers 5-10 mins later and then followed up by your entree 20-30 mins after if the order is taken in the traditionally correct way. Unfortunately that not how this went. Our drinks and appetizers came out at once which wasn’t that big of a deal but became one when our entrees came out literally 5-7 mins later when we still had plates full of of appetizers on the table, still awaiting our condiments that we requested for them. So now we have a full spread of food of the table with literally no room to put anything else, like we were having a family style thanks giving dinner. It was very uncomfortable and frustrating. Once we were done with our appetizers and began eating our entrees, it was cold. At this point we are over it and asked that it was packed to go. Additionally, one of my friends ordered a mock-tail because she cannot drink alcohol and the mock-tail came fully loaded with alcohol, that could have harmed her health wise. Last but definitely not least. Once our food was packed we asked for hookah because we couldn’t order nor enjoy one while eating because we clearly didn’t have the time do the the rush nor the space do to the crowded table. Once asked for hookah service, we were told by the server that our time at the table was up and we would have to find somewhere else to smoke it. So I asked her how is our time up and why the rush when the table directly next to use clearly had been there for at least an hour before our arrival (being that they already had entrees on the table once we arrived) and were still there chilling, hanging, smoking hookah with their to go bags by their side. She said maybe because they had a reservation and wasn’t a walk-in, and I said so did we (they had a different and clearly a better server). She then said parties over 5 have different rules and time allotments and at this point I was done talking with her and asked to speak to a manager which she refused to get. I then decided I wasn’t going to beg anyone to take my service nor my money and told my party to gather their belongings so we could depart. We paid our check and went down the block to pink Lily lounge to continue drinking and smoke hookah, which was definitely a vibe and greatly serviced. Overall, the food was definitely great but I suggest that they train some of their servers on how to properly serve and provide great costumer service. This was a dinner disaster and the birthday girl was very unhappy with her choice of establishment

Great atmosphere! Authentic food. Had the suya burger and loved it. The pepper soup was just as you’ll get in Lagos. Mind your head though; it was really hot!

A taste of Africa in the heart of Times Square? Sure! This spot was recommended and the vibes hit you as soon as you enter the door. There are three levels but two reserved for casual dining. The main level on the ground floor is set up for parties of 2-4 guests. Every table has booth style seating on one side of the table and the inner position has chairs. Across from the table seating is a long full bar. The main level is decorated with dark contrast wall paper and sultry designs. The drink menu TT is extensive and there are some unique signature drinks like the frosé. It was really good and balanced. For food, we tried pepper soup, the salmon entrée, and a goat selection. They were decent. The salmon was pretty good, lightly charred, and accompanied by two sides and a caper with lemon sauce. The sauce brought the best out of the salmon. The side choices included asparagus and fried rice. The fried rice has a kick and plenty of veggies in it. Not my fave. The asparagus was huge but good. The pepper soup was super spicy but that can be adjusted to normal spicy with less heat. It could also depend on the chef preparing it that day. Midweek, the restaurant hosts karaoke upstairs. There are bathrooms on each level as well. During the weekend you can catch live dancers demo starting traditional moves as well. The place livens up the later it gets after 7 pm and the day of the week. Reservations are helpful but may not be necessary on a typical evening.

The spot is close to time square. Very nice vibe and good food and people. The only knock off would be more of Nigerian options like egusi, ogbono, efo, okro, fried rice, and meat pie weren’t on the menu. Was a very long wait too! I guess this is a spot for artists to come thru including dj Ecool.
