Totally overrated, overpriced and arrogant. Don't recommend!
This is restaurant to cheat tourist. The food is mediocre. The price tag doesn't justify the quality of the food. The staff was a bit arrogant.

We liked the idea of trying this brasserie endorsed by a prestigious chef. What a mistake: friendly setting but excessively noisy, some members of the staff barely trained, and above all much too expensive, the wine list is a real scam: crazy coefficients, nothing for less than 60 euros, except a bottle for 34 euros , but of course out of stock. Half of a theoretical brasserie menu absent, notably no sweetbreads (I should point out that we were at the first service at 7:30 p.m.), cuisine of varying quality (steak with pepper very good, goujonnettes of sole with 90% breadcrumbs), in short , to flee.

Nice first impression. Exorbitant price. The head waiter is on another planet, disturbing. The servers do their best. In terms of cooking, the duck confit is dry, the potatoes rather burnt, the tartare "purée". In short, not brasserie cuisine. For the price, definitely to be avoided.

Small typical restaurant. Nice setting. Fast service. Good starter but the main dishes seemed to be reheated and my rice was not cooked. The duck was dry. Paying more than 250 euros for this mediocre quality I say no. Very expensive wines. In short, negative value for money.
Be the first to ReplyVery dear disappointment...
I waited so long to go there and what a disappointment! It's good, nothing more, classic brasserie cuisine. Wines by the glass without shine. An astronomical addition, we pay the name of the Chef, but the quality is not up to par. I leave this trap to the tourists.

What disappointments!!!!!!! really for tourists. the very average service the canteen style dishes. really these so-called great chefs should be a little more respectful of the customers. all this one day it should be ordered. we are in a virtual world where money is money and you and these chefs are oversized equals. With scary prices

Reserved for two weeks prior. Anticipated with great hope. Arrived at 7 and greeted by the manager who was very ‘enthusiastic’. Seated promptly. Water provided, with food menus, but no wine menu. Sat a good 15-20 min before a wine menu was provided, after we had to ask. No English menus available. Awful 80’s pop music rang loud and obnoxiously thumpy the entire time we dined. We ordered the onion soup, a signature dish. Nothing special, as were the escargot. Thump 🎶thump 🎶thump🎶. Ordered the signature chicken dish (poule au pot) and it was bland, with undercooked rice, mushy vegetables and a rather bland cream sauce. Very disappointing food, noisy atmosphere full of Madonna, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, George Michael, The Clash, etc. You can do better!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience
This restaurant was a terrible experience. Over priced. Understaffed, very mediocre food, expensive wine list and they didn’t even knew how to do a proper vodka martini. I strongly recommend to avoid this scam.

Reservations for 2 on hand - this is a must in this very popular French restaurant! We were seated right away, near the bar (not all too bad); The very polite and unobtrusive wait staff was very helpful in finding the right wine and the menu explanation. I ordered the gratin of langoustines (river lobsters) and a tasting of various appetizers - very good indeed - and also the gratin was served piping hot and very delicious.

Great Parisian restaurant, over 100 years old. The food is good, service is fast. We had a great time. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyChicken in a Pot!
First off , there are 2 locations in Paris. We went to the one near Les Invalides on Rue L'Universite. My wife and I both got the signature Poulee au Pot (Chicken in a pot) which has chicken with potatoes and carrots that are simmering in a nice broth. Our experience was highlighted by meeting a Ukranian family! Atmosphere was quaint and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend it!

Loved this place. Favorite meal of this stay. Very good food, terrific atmosphere and good service. A neighborhood gem with a real flavor of Paris

We were so looking forward to having a nice, memorable evening here. We reserved (for 2) well in advance and were the first to arrive at the restaurant (early). They sat us at the very back table where the kitchen door swung open had closed almost hitting my boyfriend chair each time. I requested to move to another table but "NO" was all they said rudely. I thought they might be full that evening. We continued and ordered a very expensive bottle of wine, steak tartar, etc. etc. etc. Due to the kitchen door commotion, the formal preparation od Steak Tartare had to be done away fro. our table. We again requested to move followed by "NO". We then were punished the entire meal by the servers not helping us, or asking if we needed anything while they focused on all tables around us. After cheese and dessert we exited only to see that there new many available tables scattered throughout the restaurant which could have accommodated us for a beautiful evening. Instead, we left feeling insulted and had an expensive unenjoyable time.

We wanted a charming neighborhood-y place for dinner our first night in Paris - nothing fancy, just a decent, old-school Parisian neighborhood place. Unfortunately, Poule au Pot is not that. What we found was average food at fancy prices in a tired and un-special atmosphere that wasn't helped by the loud, 100% American clientele. With all the charming, authentic brasseries and cafes in Paris we dined in over the following several weeks, La Poule au Pot just seemed like more and more of a mistake.

Easily the best meal I’ve ever had! If authenticity is what you’re after, come here. It is expensive though, so one for an occasion.
Be the first to ReplyA tourist trap
The restaurant is charming inside and the staff are friendly and accommodating but it is clear that the chef no longer cares about the quality of the food he or she puts out. The salad and bone marrow was good but the "Le Poule au Pot" was insipid and tasteless. The chicken was tough and they had clearly not even cleaned it properly as you could taste the bitterness of the giblets in some bits. Very disappointing especially at this price point.

Really excellent food, delicious. Service a bit slow as it seems to be the case all over Paris these days.
Be the first to ReplyAvoid if You Are Not Fluent in French
There is no doubt that the food is delicious which saved this from being a disaster. But when we politely asked the waiter if he had an English menu, he replied in an arrogant manner, “this is a French restaurant.” The answer could and should have been a simple no. No restaurant should have to provide a menu in a different language than its own but the problem was how he conveyed it and his attitude towards us through the first half of the meal until I said something to him (in French) when he had made us feel both unwelcome and uncomfortable being there.
Be the first to ReplyUnpleasant for me!
We arrived right on time (7.45 pm) first impression was cute old world Parisian charm with welcoming waiter. I noticed also a very strong perfume when entering which is probably fine for most people but it set my asthma off. ( I coughed a lot and clearly having a reaction) I asked the waiter if it was possible just to blow it out whilst we were there! Our 3 set menu was quiet rushed I felt blowing a candle out for 1 hour 15 mins was not too much to ask ! They blew it out reluctantly …I said thank you everything settled down…… then they lit it when our mains came 30 mins later it set me off again! Anyway thank god it was only 1 hour 15 mins of unnecessary torture. The food was pleasant enough French onion soup, beef pie and profiteroles but you can find many other Paris restaurants with better food for half the price I guess that’s why no Parisians were dining there!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Authentic Paris Experience
This place felt very Parisian and quaint. Food was good as well. We had the onion soup which was really good as well as the house special chicken pot. My wife loved it! We also had the fries which were ok and the rice. One note is that the tables are basically on top of each other. So if you like your personal space you may want to look elsewhere!

A wonderful Parisian restaurant serving traditional cuisine in an authentic environment. Tremendous wine list and sophisticated service
Be the first to ReplyMy wallet is crying and not got joy!!
Atmosphere pleasant
French onion soup very pleasant
The speciality chicken at £130 for three people was bland slimy and very unappealing
The bill with one glass of red and one bottle sparking rose was euro 372!!!
The next day we had a wondeful meal of higher quality for euro 117
Avoid; so much better in Paris
If you enjoy an exciting culinary experience, non-discriminatory and lovely atmosphere then avoid. Dining and food has moved on from this throwback restaurant.
