Wonderful experience
The dishes are delicious and the portion size are incredible. Definitely will recommend to my friends.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience at Kyuu
The food is good. Especially the wagyu, unagi and the ikura rice. It’s one thing that’s worth trying.

Nothing impressive w the food and highball tasted like soda with a slice of lemon. Not sure if I was paying for soda or alcohol. Our tempura that was soaked in sauce was left out for awhile and not immediately served. Atmosphere wasn’t As fancy as I was expecting, sitting by the bar wasn’t as nice as how omakase should be. It was so messy and not worth the amount I’ve paid

Excellent food and we had counter seating thus it was a pleasure to see the chef at work. Only shortfall will be, the service staffs wasn’t very attentive, informed them to clear the hot towel provided during the beginning of the meal twice but mine was not cleared till the end of the meal and was being reminded that I have to finish the meal by 7pm (2 hours) multiple times since the beginning and in between my meal and at 7pm sharp. At 7pm, I had almost a full glass of sake and asked politely for another 5 minutes, I was rejected and I left after taking a big sip of my sake. Overall a great experience except service quality can be improved.

Food and service was good with the staff and chef explaining on the menu and the ingredients, just that there's quite a loud crowd behind us making it slightly harder to hear the staff. Other than that, everything else was good
Be the first to ReplyCasual Omakase Experience
Casual Omakase experience. Small place and counter seating offers best view of food preparation. Fresh and quality ingredients. Efficient service which can also mean a rushed experience due to different seating timings - each seating is for about 2hrs.

Good experience, friendly and attentive staff. Overall we had a good time. Felt a little rush for the time given.
Be the first to ReplyOmakase (upgrade)
Tried the upgraded omakase course. There were some standout dishes like the scallop with white miso cream sauce, hot teapot soup with black truffle and Hokkaido rice with overflowing salmon roe.

After searching around online for Japanese food, we decided to try Kyuu since it was the more casual outlet of the Kappo group. Currently there is also a 25% off deal from Chope. Ambience: Nice, industrial-like, clean, cosy Service: Good in general. They asked if there’s any special occasion before you come and give you an extra scoop of sorbet with chocolate writing on the plate. Food: It was mediaocre mixed with some good dishes probably due to the affordability of the meal? The best were the sashimi platter, A4 wagyu pieces, prawns in tomato puree, fried fish and the ikura lava bowl. I upgraded the ikura to have otoro and sea urchin for $29 but it was not too worth it, with just 2 slices otoro and a spoon of sea urchin. Well I didnt feel it added much wow taste to the dish. The other dishes were the apetizer, fishcakes, corn, chawanmushi, miso soup (way too salty) and yuzu sorbet. Everything was plated beautifully with lots of flowers. By the end of the meal, we were so stuffed! Overall, it was a nice casual fine dining. Would like to try their more higher tier sister restaurants though.
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointed
Food is terrible. Compared to the previous time I am there. Totally not worth my money. 1) first dish is bad. Especially flower dashi. Does not appetise me. Fried salmon is dry. 2) bluefin tuna felt worse than normal tuna with a proper cut. The bluefin is dry and does not have fats. It is a bad cut of bluefin. Hence what’s the point? 3) fried salted fish. Nothing astonishing. Nothing to note. 4) definitely A4 beef is very bad. A5 is decent. 5) prawn? Prawn vs crab? No matter how premium your prawn is. Prawn just felt lousier than prawn. All in all. Is not worth my money and I don’t think I will be back there again. Standard is no longer there. Feedback to kyuu during dinner. They tried nth to improve the experience except saying thank you to the feedback. How does thank you improve my experience? Last but not least. Made me pay $50 per pax for reservation in an empty restaurant. Really?

I made a booking with Chope for dinner at KYUU By Shunsui on 10Mar22. Master card deduction of $100 was applied. After my dinner on 19Mar, I was billed in full for $129+$179++. Total charged to my Master card was $362.5.
What happened to my initial deposit of $100? Please revert. Receipt MID 000001040096661.

Experience marred by rowdy drunk customers
My friend and I went to celebrate my birthday on 30th Dec and we ordered the 10-course omakase which was a great value for money. I wished they placed the premium dishes earlier tho cos by the time I got to the wagyu beef I was already so stuffed! There was a rowdy drunk woman who was shouting throughout the dinner, and even swore in Hokkien, which made the dining experience less than pleasant. I tried to feedback politely to the chief server but seemed like they were more interesting in keeping their drunk money than maintain a certain level of standard in the restaurant, while the meal was value for money, this is certainly not somewhere you would go to if you're looking for a classy ambience.

We appreciated the chefs' take on fusing local ingredients with their dishes - we felt in this way, that they demonstrated a good understanding of the sensibilities of our local dining culture whilst retaining quintessential features of an Omakase.
Be the first to ReplyPrice, Presentation, Comfort and Quality
Kyuu Omakase Dinner course at SGD 129 per pax is very good for the quality it present. Counter seat chairs are very comfortable and chairs are good design for 2 person to have a nice conversation. Service was very prompt and friendly. We upgraded to 9 Sashimi and partner upgraded his beef. Add on Sirloin is SGD 24 and they were tiny pieces which is exact quality I get at Hachi Omakase lunch without the need to pay for upgrade. :) What is nice is this place sell reasonable price sake. Waiter recommended Hakurakusei Junmai 720ml at SGD 110. It is smooth and easy to drink. Overall we'd a fantastic time here and damaged was SGD 500. However I wish they have someone to keep the toilet cleaner.

Been awhile not eating out.. my first trial is to Japanese restaurants as I miss it so much during the lock down time. Surprisingly good value for money with friendly Japanese Chef and attentive waitress. The unlimited flow of the ikura on the bowl size that you can chose from. This is a highlight as it added uni and fish roe till it overflow! The 10 course dinner at $129 is very reasonable. I would come back for sure especially the Chef Taka has done a great job! Yummy despite parking along the Keong Sik road can be challenge. Love it

Lovely sumptuous Japanese dinner with friends. The overflow roe with rice was the highlight! The sashimi was very fresh too. Worth visiting!
Be the first to ReplyThoroughly enjoyable meal.
Thoroughly enjoyable meal. I thought the Omakase dinner meal was value for money. The ikura rice bowl is a show unto itself. I loved all the dishes. The honey-infused butter in the pumpkin dish was to die for. Creamy goodness all rolled into one!
Be the first to ReplyGreat fun
Kyuu has a friendly, positive and upbeat vibe. The portions are generous - the platter of sashimi comes with 7 or 9 types of fish and edible flowers, perilla leaves and seaweed. The grilled items are all cooked before your eyes. We really enjoyed the crab legs and yellowtail. The most fun came with the spooning of ikura onto our rice bowls. Truly, our cups ran over.
Be the first to ReplyFun Omasake
For $129 per person, you may about 8 courses good quality food and the most interesting was the last main of salmon roe filled rice... wow, te chef won’t filling up with roe until you say stop!!
Be the first to ReplyFANCY JAPANESE WITH DECENT COOKING
This place is not cheap and the menu is fixed ( Omakase ). Quite enjoyable food washed down by good bottle of red wine. Still slightly overprice ( S$180 per person )
