Never again
I went there with my family after seeing it on YouTube as being delicious. The eel meat was thin and the bones were large, and I wondered why they put the omelet on top. It didn't go well with the eel. I wondered if they put the omelet on top to hide the poor appearance of the eel. The sauce was thin and there was still some rice left. I felt sick halfway through and left the rice. I'll never go there again, and if anyone is thinking of going, I will do everything I can to stop them.

The grilled eel was absolutely fantastic. Tastes great! The food presentation was top notch. Quality service, nice food and traditional decoration, it is worth to visit!
Be the first to ReplyReal unagi, really good.
Amazing authentic Kyoto style unagi. Very soft compared to the tough eels you can find in North America, you can also enjoy the aroma of the grill. They have different sizes so you can get a small size and be able to try smaller dishes like pickles, omlet, and chawanmushi (steamed egg and broth). After ordering, the food comes out pretty quickly. We were in line to get in, but turnovers was fast so we didn’t have to wait so long. You can watch the eel bbq in action from outside, and it looks like they sometimes have live rakugo (traditional comedy) upstairs.

Below a average for the price. There’s a lot of good unagi in Japan but this is a place that did not let it’s signature dish hold up with its rich history. Went in at 11.30am, left at 12.45pm on a Friday and only 4 tables were occupied with no queueing customers as you will expect from any reputable establishment. Thin unagi masked by a lot of rice and a thick omelets. Feels more like eating omelet rice than unagi rice.
