Kura Revolving Sushi Bar San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Standard typical sushi revolving place.
I got a random gift (eyeglass cleaner LOL) that I use quite frequently. Quality isn't the best and it's overpriced (3.5$ per plate i think?) but it's San Diego so. Once in a while it's good. The serving robot is cute.

The first time back after Covid, it's been a while since I was there last before Covid. I read the Yelp reviews, downloaded the app and was ready to use it for the waitlist, but I didn't have to because I was there on Monday at 11:05 a.m. when it opened. There was no line. No one was waiting. A couple of tables were already occupied. The parking was easy. This really changed my experience there this time. From now on, I will always try to go there whenever I can get there the first thing in the morning. If not, ... just forget it! I don't want to wait for a long time to get in. The rest was just easy, pleasant and delicious! The good thing about Kura is that it offers more variety of fish than other regular sushi bars. There are kinds of fish that we don't see on the menu at other places. They may not be the top notch quality, but you can have more variety for a good price. It also has normally more expensive fish like Salmon Eggs, Spanish Mackerel or Sweet Shrimp coming around on the conveyor belt for the same flat price, so if you like those, it's a "yay"! They also offer their own unique creations like beef sushi or olive oil yuzu salmon, etc. I had 10 plates (!!), and it turned out about $4.5 per plate with tax and tip included, so it's at least $2-3 or so cheaper per plate compared to regular sushi places. It's worth it! The quality of rice, soy sauce, ginger and wasabi was all good. The service was nice and friendly. It was prompt with the cute server robots! The orders from the touch pad came right away. No wait at all. Again, the quality of fish may not be all the best depending on the fish, but it exceeded my expectations of a revolving sushi bar. Food, service, price and ambience, everything considered, this was a very happy visit. I will definitely be back when I can be there at11:00 a.m.!
DO NOT COME HERE, ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE MY MOUTH HAS
DO NOT COME HERE, ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PLACE MY MOUTH HAS EXPLORED. No matter the day, the wait time is so long and it makes even more not worth it. the vibe just feels weird when you come inside, just off. the price is 3.50 per plate. some plates had fish and others a little bowl of watermelon, or just sweet treats that looked like an easy bake product. food sucked. the squid was tough, the crab was like a tire made from dead fish, eel was grossly soft, uni like rotting teeth plaque, one of the rolls had only a skimpy piece of lettuce, literally no mayo on the mayo fish dishes, WAGYU WAS NEVER SPOTTED ONCE. the regular fish even sucked, the yellowtail was drying out into a jerky, the salmon was like slime, the tuna was grey, everything was gross. price racks up fast for literally no good food. even being under the influence wouldn't make this food good. you won't even want a sweet treat after leaving because that's how disgusting your body feels :3 GO TO LITTLE SAKANA. BIGGER AND BETTER. all you can eat at a good price with actual good food and amazing service
The wait here is terribly long, 2-2.
5hr. We booked the day before but ended up dipping since it said our table would only be ready around closing time and we wanted the full experience. I guess you could call it lucky that we woke up 4pm from a nap the next day and so the wait time would be up to the regular dinner time. Went around 6:30pm when the online platform said we had about 15 minutes left and parking wasn't the worse, but we parked in the structure and paid for two hours, $6 I believe. First things we got when we were seated were the hot noodles -- beef udon and Tonkatsu. Then got a variety of the nigiri, hand rolls, gunkan, and limited editions, each $3.55. Some fell apart very easily. We used mostly the ordering function instead of the belt feature just because I thought that those ones might have sit there for too long. I wanted mine fresh from the kitchen. I think my favorite was the seared beef with yakiniku sauce. I do have to say though, if it wasn't for the rolls we got, I think this would have been a 5/5. Nonetheless, for everything we got, it was still worth the price, $63, including tip.
Cute and fun.
Definitely need to plan ahead. It gets packed and waitlist could be two hours long.

Sushi is very "cookie cutter" but the experience is fun, and the Ai robot that they use is cool. Our server never showed up to clean our table... they charge to give you lemons wasabi and spicy mayo we asked Joshua for some wasabi and spicy mayo and he brought it and put it right in front of my 2 year old ( clearly he doesn't have kids!) my daughter put her hand in the wasabi, thankfully she didn't burn her eyes with it! The place was busy, you better join the waitlist at least an hour before showing up! Edamame is very bland! The deep fried octopus balls ( I forgot the name) are super good! The spicy mayo is just ehhhhh! It can get a little loud during peak time!

Walked right in at lunch time for a party of 6, no wait time and we were seated quickly. This was my first time at revolving sushi and it was a great experience! The tuna and salmon I had were so fresh and buttery. I loved the rolls I had, and everyone in my party were full and satisfied with their dishes! Can't wait to come again

Second time for this location! Disappointed again! Sushi was just ok compared to other location in Ontorio. I like the Ontorio location better. Food and service are way better. This particular staff is very arrogant to customers. She is very good at organizing the line but the way she talked to the customer, she needs to improve. I was waiting patiently for 40-60 which is expected so I observed all this conversation. I was going to ask her where we were on the list. I stepped on the rug and she directed me to step out of the rug because the door opened out and I blocked the door. The other customers wanted to ask question but they didn't feel welcome. She was too busy for us to ask questions. The customer said " thanks and we won't bother you again. Another couple also waited around the Column and wanted to ask question, she told them to come around the front of the podium. This place has no waiting area and so unsafe. They stayed behind the podium into the parking space and a car tried to back in. We needed to tell them to move and be careful. This location is always busy and they need to do the waiting area better than that. If they turnaround the podium, people can line up better. Overall, I think I will not come back to this location again. Sadly, I live in San Diego but rather drive to Ontorio for a decent sushi.

Pretty overrated and way too long of a wait most of the time. If you want to see what revolving sushi is like then go for it but you'll find better sushi quality at many other local places.

4.5 star food but it takes FOREVER to get seats and you cant reserve ahead of time. Customer service is pretty good and the animations are cute but a bit repetitive of you go there often. Also, I recommend that if you want the food truly fresh then don't take it from the conveyor belt and order it on the screen, especially the hot foods. Overall not bad.
