Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns Ramen New York Reviews from The Last Year
I saw this place recommended online with pretty solid
I saw this place recommended online with pretty solid reviews, so I stopped by for a late weekend lunch. I ordered the 紅燒牛肉麵 ("real kung fu beef noodle" , which came really quickly and looked delicious (exactly as pictured online) . Unfortunately, that's as good as it got, since the flavour was another story. The noodles were fine, but tended to be a little overcooked / soft. The broth was also ... fine - not salty or anything but definitely just lacking in flavour overall (watered-down). The beef chunks were definitely the low point; generally it was really tough/chewy meat with some gristle-like bites. The flavour was really lacking, too; it felt like you could just taste the broth (as opposed to the natural flavour of the meat itself). It turns out the fact that the portion of meat was very generous is not very valuable if the meat is hard to chew and doesn't have much flavour. Also, it came out to be a bit pricier than expected ($22 incl tax and tip). Note that they already add a 15% service charge no matter the size of your party (I ate by myself!) so be careful of absentmindedly tipping twice if you weren't paying attention. Maybe their ramen or soup dumplings are better, but given the abundance of excellent Chinese food in the city, I'm not particularly inclined on coming back to give it another try.

I just ordered this vegetarian Mala Mix, and it looks like this. Is this someone's leftovers or is supposed to be like this? It tastes sour and everything looks like it was soaked in soup for a long time.
Cute, somewhat sterile Chinese "diner" feel with plenty of
Cute, somewhat sterile Chinese "diner" feel with plenty of seating. You can see them making the dumplings and other items in the back area window. Freshly made! Soup dumplings are top notch, and highly recommended. We tried the regular steamed dumplings - shrimp and pork - which were large and bursting with fresh flavor. Nicely made and even a pretty color! Broccoli with garlic sauce was a disappointment, as the sauce was more like a thick brown sauce; not to my liking. Service was a bit casual and haphazard, but that's to be expected (my water remained unfilled the entire time once I finished the first glass). Still, a decent place for a quick Chinese snack.
Hong Kong good Dim Sum
We visited prior to the theater and shared 7 different Dim Sum dishes and Bok Choy. The Dim Sum was Hong Kong good and quite fillings. It's a small place and we had to share a table but it all worked out. If you are a Dim Sum fan don't miss this place.
The food is awesome.
Definitely worth the wait. Service is good as well. I will definitely go back there. The duck buns is a must even if taking it to go.
A coworker recommended this place so I decided to check it
A coworker recommended this place so I decided to check it out. Compared to other ramen places nearby this one is cheaper. Still, my bowl came out to $15. Ordering to go was quick and my food came within 10mins. There were seats available if I chose to eat inside. The broth was stored in its own container. The noodles were probably thicker than I would've liked but they were good. The meal wasn't as spicy as I would've liked but it had a decent kick. The broth was delicious and might've been my favorite part. Great seasoning mixed in there alongside the spice. The beef thin and tender. I felt like they gave a generous amount of beef. When I thought I was done, I'd find another slice hidden in the broth. The veggies were ok, they didn't do much for me. By the time I was done, I emptied the bowl completely. Not the best ramen I've had but it was very delicious. I'd happily go back again.
This place is phenomenal.
Not sure why the low ratings. The xlb were so juicy. The hand cut noodles were perfectly stir fried. The pepper beef in scallion pancake was nice and spicy. I highly recommend this place. I'm bookmarking this place for next time. I had to edit my review though bc they forgot my shen Jian bao and didn't acknowledge it and gave someone else our order. And we had to wait an extra 15 min for our order.
If you're seeking an authentic taste of traditional Chinese
If you're seeking an authentic taste of traditional Chinese cuisine with a modern twist, look no further than Kung Fu Little Steam Buns. It can be a great pre-show meal, nestled near the theater district. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted by the tantalizing aroma of freshly steamed buns and savory spices. The menu boasts a wide variety of options, ranging from classic steamed buns. My favorite is the duck buns. Not to be missed are their hand-pulled noodles, which are made to perfection and served in rich, flavorful broths that warm the soul. The ambiance at Kung Fu Little Steam Buns is cozy and inviting, with attentive staff who are passionate about sharing their love for Chinese cuisine. Good to go solo, on a date or with friends.
Take away perfection
Loved the soup dumplings. We also had the house special flat noodles and they were delicious!! Cash only. Called it in and right on time when I arrived. Don’t worry they also have seating.
Amazing Soup Dumplings!
Amazing little place for hand pulled noodles and soup dumplings. Our tour guide recommended it and she was not wrong. Definite must visit for dinner. Tiny place but well worth it for the food.
This is a cute casual restaurant in Midtown East area
This is a cute casual restaurant in Midtown East area serving Chinese food. I came around dinner time and was seated quickly. There were a lot of options on the menu including appetizers like soupy buns, and entrees Mala tang, Mala dry pot, hand cut noodles, etc. They also have drink selection which includes bubble tea. I got the seafood malatang which came in a huge bowl filled to the brim. There was a lot of shrimps, squid and fish slices. The seafood and vegetables make up the bulk of the soup. The broth is very mild, with slight spiciness and numbing flavor. I was surprised to see that there was an automatic 15%nservice charge and did not remember seeing this posted anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. They stapled the credit card form right where the service charge was so it would have been very easy to miss if I didn't pay attention. On top of that there is a suggested tip amount. I'm ok with having a service charge to replace tip but the way it was hidden seemed deliberate when it would influence the tip amount. I hope they would be more straightforward with this practice and inform customers beforehand.
Good food in informal surroundings
Large portions of authentic food. Fireworks of flavours, and lovely homemade noodles. Informal and unsnobbish restaurant.
Recommended!
We ate there in January 2024. The place looks a bit anonymous from the outside, but was a gem. Lovely food, unpretentious atmosphere! We ordered steam buns, spring rolls, noodles with beef and ramen. Everything was very good!
The food was delicious.
We enjoyed the shredded beef, fried rice and pork steamed buns. The service was also good.
Must Stop!
What an amazing meal at a great price. I went with hubby so we ordered several things and split everything. The handmade noodles with duck were to die for. It is a small restaurant, but service is outstanding and food comes out not only delicious but hot.
Casual, Hot and Delicious!
This was a nice little casual spot for good food after the theater. The food was fresh and delicioous made with high quality ingredients at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the shrimp ramen noodles, duck stir fry noodles, beef and pepper stir fry noodles, and the pan fried dumplings. Fast, friendly service too. Highly recommended.

I ordered the vegetable hot pot (simple vegetable broth with vegetables). There was a layer of oil that was overwhelming and not much variety in vegetables. Overall, the service was quick and the portion was more than enough- great for a cold day.
Great food and drink
Very limited indoor seating so unless at an off time you might need to wait for a table. Lots of delivery or pick up. Fantastic food and drinks.
Top soup
Awesome soup!!! The room is small but the preparations are top notch. Very good value for money for NY. We ate very well
Tasty and comforting food.
This small door on 8th Avenue may even go unnoticed by those passing by on the sidewalk. But the line at the door is a sign that beautiful dishes are served in that small room. We abused the menu. From the delicious Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns Ramen with shrimp, meat and egg, to SPICY BEEF RAMEN, STEAMED BUNS W/ CRAB MEAT and handmade dumpins. We opted for the STEAMED SHRIMP & PORK DUMPLINGS and the STEAMED PORK DUMPLINGS. Everything came out bordering on perfection, with lots of flavor and for a very fair price. It was well worth the almost hour-long wait for a table. We left happy and ready to face more of the New York nightlife.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
