Great Lunch
We stopped Konbi for lunch after taking the Art Deco Tour of Los Angeles and before going to Hollyhock House. The sandwiches were large and delicious. There are two picnic tables by the curb and we ate at one. It was a sunny day and relatively warm for an enjoyable lunch outside. I had an egg salad sandwich that had a whole hard boiled egg included in the sandwich. If you like egg salad, you have to have one!

Lunch from KONBI was spectacular. The Layered Omelette, Egg Salad and Pork Katsu were awesome, but the Chocolate Croissant was better than anything I have ever had in France.

We tried the egg salad sandwich. Sadly, the bread wasn't fresh, but we liked the filling. What we really loved was the custard tart with coconut. They serve it in slices like a pie, and it was outstanding. So few seats in the place that we just did take out, and that worked great. There is a gas station next door so we bought drinks there and ate in our car. Very hard to park in that neighborhood, and there is often a long line for this great little spot.
Be the first to Replyworth the price and wait
In this trip we made time in order to come to Konbi and try to eat inside at the counter. The wait was not too bad, about 20 minutes but in the mean time we had coffee and a croissant outside. I cannot imagine a better way to spend my time while waiting in line.
We ordered the egg salad, katsu sando and eggplant, a side of pickes. To our surprise the eggplant katsu was the best! I would definitely make time in my next trip to come here and maybe, since Iยดve tried most of the sandwiches Iยดd have more space to order veggies.
The staff is super friendly, it makes for a great visit!
Runs like a Swiss watch...
Konbi is really more of a breakfast and lunch counter than a full service restaurant. The menu is small, tight, and very tasty. The food is delicious and the restaurant obviously already has a following. From the baked goods โ they only make a limited number of croissants a day so if you want one go early โ to the precisely made sandwiches, to their vegetable dishes and salad it is all VERY good. The coffee and teas are exceptional and I am very critical. My only wish is that it was easier to get to โ but that is LA. BRAVO!

We had read all the hype about Konbi. We went over for an early lunch. There was already a line and all the tables were taken. So to go it was.
I had the egg salad, which was really very good. Quite a feat with such a traditional
Dish as egg salad. It is definitely a must go. The menu is very limited, but all
The dishes seem to be special
OH EM GEE!!! YEZZZZ!!!!
Saw a YouTube video on this place and decided to stop by and so happy I did!!! Totally worth the trip and totally worth the $$$$$!!! Small place, but we took it to go. The staff was friendly and courteous. Picked up 3 of their sandwiches: the layered omelette, the pork katsu and the egg salad and so happy I did. Sooooooo sooooo good!!!! Pork was my favorite, then the egg salad and then the omelette. Will definitely be back next time Iโm in LA!!!

Only has 10 seats at the bar . The food is a different take on traditional food. The egg sandwich had whole eggs surrounded by egg salad, the crusts were cut off. Seemed delicate. Customers can watch the many staff prepare the food.

This is a very small place. It only has chairs at the bar. Food bar that is.
We were greeted by Lucy who is a very friendly and knowledgeable receptionist and waitress. Yes we had to wait for about 30 minutes. Lucy offered us some water while we waited. There are only about 8-10 seats. They do turn over fairly quickly.
There are about six people in the kitchen which is right there in front of you. They are also friendly and caring to be helpful. But they are very busy. They do a lot of to GO orders.
Wait till you eat the food. Each of the dishes was extremely tasty. Very simple but absolutely delicious. I started with a taste of the potato salad. It had some crispy tofu and wonderful Dijon mustard. It was not a huge portion but still quite large.
My wife had, and I tasted the egg salad sandwich/ Boy they were good quality eggs. You could tell by the rich golden color how good they were even before eating them. The sandwich was wonderful.
I could not make up my mind between the carrot dish or the turnips. Lucy described the turnips, which is normally not my favorite dish, so well I opted for it. It was scrumptious. It had Meyer lemon and toasted crushed rice and delicious soy sauce.
My favorite dish was the pork Katsu. It was a sandwich where they trimmed off some of the edges of both the bread and the pork. They then cut the sandwich in half and served it. It was cooked perfectly. I was tempted to order another to go.
I would have had one or more of their desserts but they were completely sold out. Oh well, next time.
I cannot wait to come back even though it is 35 miles from my home. I don't care where you have to come from, this is the place to eat breakfast or lunch.
The menu is quite limited but each dish was beautifully prepared.
Be patient and you will be rewarded.
