Kona Kitchen Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

We went for a burger and Jazz with guitarist Doug Zangar and bassist Dan O'Brien. We were very pleased with both food and music and plan a return visit!!

We were excited to find a restaurant nearby that serves local Hawaii food. They have a small parking area and ample street parking. We've tried other places that advertise Hawaii or Hawaiian in their name or items on their menu. This was the first time where it actually tasted like local Hawaii food. Our server was great. We ordered the fried rice loco moco with chicken katsu and the mochiko chicken. I told her we were going to share the loco moco she brought an extra plate and serving spoon (most places forget and I have to ask for an extra plate). A little pricey but the serving sizes were a good amount of food. Fried rice was flavorful, included green onion, spam and char siu, wasn't dry and had no peas. lol. Hawaii fried rice as it should be. Would definitely come back again.
We got there and it was closing time.
We were so excited because we saw a lot of good reviews. We felt bad even though the owner offered to open the kitchen in 20min if we waited. The ambiance and vibe in there was nostalgic. Felt like we were home. We were new to the area and was only there for a short time and the owner looked up any places that were opened at the time. He gave a lot of suggestions and directions. Although we didn't get to try their food their customer service was top notch! We were greeted as soon as we walked in and was assisted till we left. Hopefully we will be back in the near future so we can try this place out!
Have to say, was extremely disappointed in the service.
Was seated almost immediately, had plenty of staff and was 70-80% full, took about 5-7 mins to be seated and place order to eat and asked for a beer, and also a takeout order for wife to bring home. Waiting and waiting, 20 mins, 30 mins, no beer served while I waited for food and no one bothered to check that I was ok, and let me know food was coming. I know that this is a small business owner but you have to do better than that. Even saw some of the staff taking pictures with customers, pretty terrible. So they lost out on about $60 of food, and a long term customer. I'll never go back to this place.

Amazing food!!!! Husband and I came here for lunch and we had the Da Kanak attack and the Korean chicken. Flavorful, great portions! Sadly we don't live in Seattle and we're just here for a vacay, otherwise I would probably be here every other week if I could.

Back to Kona Kitchen after many years, I think is when KK first opened, with grandsons. Boys enjoyed their meal choices. Had the Wonton Min, it was okay, not quite the island (HI) broth flavor and the wontons were bland. Spam Masubi was ok. Gave it a 3 due to the wait to be seated was beyond the timeframe told and waiting period to order even when we were ready to order as we were seated. Staff were pleasant, congenial and communicable but appears that of the delay were due to the kitchen staff (cooks) needed time to prepare the meals (short on kitchen cook staff??). Hence the wait time to be seated as well as ordering meals. There were ample seating areas open and it was apparent that the manageable control for the kitchen staff were the waiting to be seated as well as ordering. Set up and setting was a reminder of down home local Hawaii style family eateries that's comfortable and welcoming.
Came here around 11:45am on a Sunday.
We had a party of 8 and were told it'd be 30-45 minutes. We expected the wait considering the size of our party. But as we sat there, we noticed that more than half of the dining room was empty, with majority of the patrons in the front waiting area. A group that consisted of two adults and a baby, was sat at a table for six. We watched a young man bussing a table, and it literally took at least 20-25 minutes to be cleared. Even with an additional staff member coming by to wipe it down after that. There was no sense of urgency here, or wanting to maximize business by turning customers as quickly as possible. When we were finally seated, it took another 20-30 minutes just to get the beverages we ordered. Food was good, portions as well, but not worth the wait. HELPFUL TIPS: Pack your patience. Don't come hungry. Eat before you come. Bring snacks. Maybe even bring a board game.
Food was good.
Our order ticket was lost and waited more than an hour for our food.. (I know you might think why didn't you get up and leave) we were told over and over our food was on its way out and it wasn't... however other guest that arrived after were served before us... Will I go back? No
Very nice place for breakfast + brunch.
Staff were super nice and accommodating. Parking can be a bit tight but definitely worth it

Come for the food (variety of hawaiian & Asian food), and be entertained by finding out about the owner of the restaurant. Go look at their website or YouTube for their funny commercial. The food was pretty good, we got the kalua pork and got to try the kimchi fried rice (delicious). More importantly you can gather a crowd here, it's family friendly, and there is something on the menu for everyone (breakfast served all day!).

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
