This restaurant may be a bit out-of-the-way for some
This restaurant may be a bit out-of-the-way for some tourists, as it's in the largely residential area known as Fulham/Parsons Green, but it's worth the trip down the Kings Road (to 58 New Kings Road). ย I never thought I much liked Japanese food till I dined at Koji...delicious food, and amazing cocktails to boot! ย Friendly service and fun atmosphere. ย It isn't inexpensive, but 4 adults had fancy cocktails and shared 2 bottles of wine and multiple dishes...all for @ $350USD (total, including tax and service). ย Where I come from (DC/NYC), that's a great deal! ย LOVE THIS PLACE! ย I go to London every couple years, and can't wait to go back to Koji next time I'm there. ย Rez recommended.

It's not somewhere I would frequent regularly based on price, but the food quality is excellent. There is quite a large menu with many traditional and modern takes on Japanese cuisine. I didn't know where to start, but we were finally able to decide on a few dishes to share. Starting with the tacos, I must warn you, they are more like bite size pieces of meat tucked in a cracker. This was the most disappointing of the dishes, although it did not lack in flavour with the beef and truffle tacos, I felt that ยฃ6 each (minimum two) was far too expensive for something that tiny.Pricing aside, the rest of the meal was excellent. Rock-n-roll shrimp was a pile of fried prawns in a lovely sauce, very filling. Yellow tail and crab nigiri were both so fresh and delicious. The spicy scallop roll and black cod miso roll, were very tasty. Black cod was rich and filling while the scallop was light and bright. Their cocktail bar has some standout bottles, a great wine and drink list overall. The music selection could be less club music and more elegant for such an upscale place. Service was spotty but redeemed itself at the end.

I have now been to Koji twice and have had delicious meals on both occasions. The menu is interesting and the fish is fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and sushi.
A bit expensive but worth it. Good to go for a special occasion. Everything was really fresh!!
Be the first to ReplyDesign is between stylish and traditional.
Just enough to make you feel in a Japanese restaurant but a fancy one. The wine list is particularly impressive and if the price list starts high, it definitely because the wines are worth it (try Chateau de la Negly). The sashimi selection is impressive, fresh and subtle. The bill hurts but it is 100% worth it.

It boggles my mind that this place has not been reviewed on Yelp yet, given that the restaurant is absolutely heaving most of the times I pass by it!This restaurant attracts a certain clientele, reflective of the neighbourhood it is located in - young, chic and self-consciously well-off. The staff, on its part, seems self-assured about the quality of service and food offered, without being pretentious. It was a buzzy Saturday evening and we had no booking, so no surprises that we did not get a table upon walking in. That said, we were looking to be seated at the bar anyway, to watch the chefs crafting their works of art.We munched on some spicy garlic soy edamame to start with (succulent, flavourful!), as we perused their menu and specials. We ordered a special deep-fried sushi topped with soft shell tempura with yuzu salsa - highly unusual and textured. We also had some spicy hamachi maki (yum), a cold seabass tiradito special which was a bit scarce in portion size but amazingly fresh and flavoursome. I recall a crunchy seafood salad in addition but forget the exact ingredients. We topped off the cold meal with hot udon noodles (duck and mushrooms) which was surprisingly generous in portion size.Loved our cocktails - a Singapore Sling done right and a lovely Ramos Gin Fizz - yum. Service was excellent, staff was friendly and even the chefs offered some banter when they took a break. The menu (both for food and drinks) is very inviting and promises quality all round - definitely worth a revisit...so why do I rate it less than 5 stars? Well, it doesn't come cheap, does it? :) I'd say it's a solid 4.5 stars even accounting for prices!
