Koji didn't deliver
We were super excited to try Koji, its reputation here and elsewhere preceded it. But last night's meal was pretty disappointing. Two of the best looking mains we ordered, the mackerel and the lamb chops were unavailable, and the pork belly I had to replace it arrived cold. In fairness they did change it, but by that time my partner had finished hers. The whole meal became an oddly staggered affair. In partial defence, the cocktails were excellent. Perhaps this was a one off but for a restaurant at this premium, you'd expect better.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food - Service needs to improve
We visited on a busy Friday night. The food was delicious - some unusual options which turned out to be delightful. The grilled Octopus was a particular highlight. Unfortunately the service deteriorated as the evening went on. Our dessert didn't arrive for over 40 minutes after ordering it. It looked as if the waiter took our order but didn't pass it to the kitchen until prompted 30 minutes later. There was a lot of confusion over the whisky that we ordered, which took even longer to arrive. To the restaurant's credit they did give us an extra one at no charge, but it wasn't what we'd originally ordered and by that point we were not minded to wait any longer for the right drink to finally arrive. I understand that on the night in question they were short-staffed - and with the notable exception of our waiter, every member of staff appeared to be working hard to rectify the situation. ***But when we're paying well over 100 pounds per person for a special meal, the service really should be far better than this.*** I'd be willing to give the restaurant another try because the food was outstanding. But I'd be reluctant to risk it on a busy Friday or Saturday night - there's too much risk of the evening being spoiled by poor service.

The evening started off really well. It was a birthday celebration so I brought my family as a special treat. The food is very good-although very expensive, I understood the pricing. The service was fine but not exceptional. We arrived at 630 and all went smoothly at that point. But then the restaurant filled up and the service totally deteriorated. Pudding never arrived-although the dessert wine arrived very early without the pudding. It was chaos and very unsatisfactory. We gave up on pudding and even paying for the bill took a whole! At £450 for the four of us, this restaurant really needs to pull its socks up. I won’t be rushing back even though we are locals and love Japanese food.
Be the first to ReplyEast meets West in Fulham
While by no means a well kept secret in Fulham & Chelsea, Koji merits more attention from Londoners who enjoy great food in my view. The depth of flavours and the variety of the offerings on Koji's menu make for an amazing Japanese gastronomic experience. Particular stand-outs were the mushrooms and the fillet of beef. But don't walk past the sushi. Service is excellent and the waiters help you navigate the extensive menu. Moreover, there are specialty beers other than the classic Japanese options and the wine list is both extensive and international - very navigable. The cocktail offering is also very professional. We paid £75 per person which included ample to drink and was certainly worth it for food of that quality.

A brilliant place with a lovely owner in Pat. Top notch quality food and cocktails. Try the black cod, amazing! The atmosphere is tremendous with people of all ages enjoying a great evening out. I had the Koji fizz cocktail, stunning, also if you don't drink alcohol there is a good range of non alcoholic cocktails. The piece de resistance are the puddings made by a specialist chef. The best you have ever tasted. Lovely to have a place nearby with such outstanding food. Well done Pat!

Really friendly staff, great decor and superb food. Wine list also good as are the cocktails.
Can recommend the taco’s.
Below standard service
I’ve been coming here since I was a child when it was a Chinese restaurant. This was my first not so good experience. Cocktails took 1/2 to arrive. We sat with menus for food for 15 mins and had to ask to have someone take our order. Service was not friendly and for the price we would expect more attention. I was ignored by many waiters at times. Food was good but spoilt by the service. Shame also that there is no dessert menu.
Be the first to ReplyBest cocktails i ever had!
I went to Koji with a friend of mine who I haven’t seen for over two years. We had a few drinks each and all our drinks were so beautifully presented and so delicious. Dean, the bartender really just hit the right spot and made our drinks after we told him what we liked and he surprised us with drinks that he had made specifically for our tastebuds! We had a great time while enjoying our amazing cocktails! Definitely going back back to enjoy Dean’s wicked cocktails! Recommend 100% weather you want a great drink or food you gotta try out their restaurant!! Thank you for the great experience! The waiters were also really lovely and quick to serve us! Great evening spent at Koji, definitely going back again!

Came to visit Koji last Saturday for the first time and wow... it did not disappoint. The food was so delicious and the cocktail menu is incredible. The bartender was very friendly and chat away with us throughout the night exploring the menu with us and even made us some amazing drinks that were not on the menu when we asked him to surprise us. Best old fashioned I have ever had (and I have had many)

Very good food and the cocktails and bar staff were amazing.
However, I wouldn't normally take the time to review a restaurant but the service was so bad and slow. We ended up not even getting 2 dishes we ordered and after waiting for some time were told to just cancel those dishes. It seemed like everyone around us was receiving all their food and we were just left waiting for each dish for ages.
For the amount of money you pay for each dish service should really be better. It was very annoying to leave the restaurant hungry.
Best sushi in London (and excellent wines too)
Another trip here the other day and it is still remains the best sushi in London. You can tell the ingredients are very high quality and the wine list is also excellent. It isn’t the cheapest restaurant in the area but you get what you pay for and service is exceptional. We’ll be back.

Very good quality food and cocktails undermined by quite awful service.
Ignored for the majority of the evening, spoken to brusquely with no justification and left to wait for long periods of time for food that, in some cases, never actually arrived.
Made all the more frustrating by friends of the staff being treated to apparent platinum level service.
Please do better! Manners cost nothing!
Celebrating a project win
We came one evening to celebrate a successful period on a client project. This is a treat meal but so worth the money.
Wine was great and the food was better. The aubergine and squid are delicious but the black cod was standout. It was so moist and just fell apart.
It was a lovely night and I’m looking forward to another mini celebration here.
Great Quality
Koji is expensive but serves very high quality food and drinks. I wouldn’t go there every day but it’s always a great place to go for special occasions.
