Kaikaya by the Sea Shibuya City Reviews from The Last Year
Recommended by a friend
Recommended by a friend who already knew the place, I booked a table for three. Four types of menu with different prices and some courses that can complement the previous ones. We choose three from 12000.. plus three roast wagyu kobe… The waiter... correct and honest tells us that two courses of wagyu are enough... Excellent beer.. Everything good and fresh Advised
Welcoming staff, delicious food, great ambience
Delicious set menu (Yuki course) for our last night in Japan - we were not disappointed! Beautifully presented, delicious food, with the most attentive, welcoming and friendly staff. Thank you so much! Highly recommended.
Only for (very) dumb tourists!
This restaurant is a shame for Japan. It is not the same restaurant as it is used to be. Ordered 3 plates: otoro sushi, miso soup and sashimi. The otoro sushi were good, even if the wasabi (to be ribbed by oneself) was totally tasteless if not with a taste of some chemicals. Then the miso soup was kind of ok, but still very watery. The sashimi were a total disaster. Felt like they came after being cut 3 days ago, got already dried by today while kept in a fridge. The service guy was always with a condescendant smile. The final top was the “coperto” fee charged for some dead concombres we were offered at the beginning of the meal. Never will return here again. What a misery and a shame for Japan and Tokyo.
Once in a lifetime
Completely overrated restaurant. A pure tourist trap with inflated prices for mediocre food and unbelievable noise levels. It's simply impossible to have a conversation, and thanks to the screaming waiters, that's probably what they want. No Japanese anywhere. That says a lot. I keep asking myself how a place like this can get a good rating. Apart from the cockroach that ran across the table in front of us, I wouldn't recommend it in any other way.
Excellent
Excellent! Incredible sushi, a taste experience. We were very well recommended by the waiter Rodrigo when choosing what to eat. We will be back!
The Tokyo that surprises you
Beautiful, good and strange. In a very tidy and precise city, this restaurant changes the rules by offering a warm and passionate environment. The food is even more special and very well looked after. You can feel and experience all the passion of the people who work there from the first bite to the last! You can't miss trying the tuna cheek, if available. An enchantment!
Brutal
A success!! We were recommended, we reserved a table and in the reservation itself you must indicate the menu, we chose the length and tried everything! Incredible service and food
Trip down Memory lane
Having last been to this restaurant over 10 years ago, was keen to go back again down memory lane and re live some experiences. This time with 2 kids in tow. Kaikaya definitely did not disappoint, what a fantastic meal, atmosphere and super attentive, friendly and lovely staff who made the whole evening an enjoyable one. We had the 6 course cho dish and would highly recommend it, from the fresh sashimi to the grilled fish and gelato everything was delicious. We prior to opening at 17:00 without a booking on a Tuesday and had no issues being seated.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
