There is much to unpack regarding this restaurant so let's get started. Parking on Spruill Ave is a bit limited. If you can't find anything, I suggest driving up a block and turning right on Montague Ave. There was plenty of parking in front of North Charleston High School I had eaten at Jack Rabbit Filly before, but that was years ago and on king St. That meal was so much better than the one we ate today. We arrived on time at 1:45 for our Sunday Brunch Dim Sum and we were seated right away, After spending a few minutes with the menu we made a selection and ordered 5 dishes. A few minutes later the waitress came out to let us know that they were out of the stuffed pepper dish we ordered, and quickly suggested another dish that had similar ingredients. She then informed us that the kitchen was going to be closing and that we should make sure we get in everything we wanted now. I don't know about you, but when I am having dim sum for a meal, I want to order a few dishes and order more after that. Announcing to us that the kitchen was closing 10 minutes after our reservation is ridiculous at best. Either keep the kitchen open longer or stop taking reservations earlier. Being afraid the Dim Sum Dishes were going to be small, we ordered 2 additional dishes at that time, which turned out to be a mistake. My first dish, and probably my favorite was Brown sugar milk tea, Tapioca coconut sweetened condensed milk French Toast. In hindsight, for reasons explained later, I wish I would have saved this dish to help break up the flavors of the other 6 dishes we ate. The next three dishes:* Breakfast okonomiyaki, was a Cabbage pancake, bacon, fried egg, spicy mayo, ponzu, scallion, and tempura crunch. I think the pancake itself needed to be thinner so it could be crispier. I did enjoy a bit of the bacon flavor that came through, but the fried egg on top added nothing because it was overcooked and had no runny yellow to spread on the pancake. * Shrimp & scallop shumai with Preserved ginger, buttermilk wasabi aioli* Crispy Brussels Sprouts with curry buttermilk aioli All three of these dishes (especially the last two), had similar yet very sour/pungent flavors. It was to the point that except for the textures, I could not distinguish one dish's flavor from the other. The Sichuan hot Karaage which is Japanese fried chicken, with filly sauce, chili oil, togarashi, b&b pickles, had perfectly cooked chicken and was a fairly large dish for Dim Sum,. The sad part is I was still overwhelmed by the flavors of the previous three dishes, I was unable to tell what the filly and chilly oil sauce tasted like This is where I really needed the sweetness of the French toast I had already finished, just to help cleanse my palate. The Vegetable egg rolls were 2 very large, hot, and crispy rolls with Cabbage, bean sprouts, carrot, onion, and a Dijonnaise sauce. This was one of the wife's favorite dish. The last dish and another one that the wife liked was the Pork & cabbage dumplings with Soy, vinegar, chili oil, cilantro, and peanuts.Overall I thought the meal was average and a bit underwhelming.
