Ivy City Smokehouse Washington Reviews from The Last Year
The food was great.
My son has a serious allergy and the staff was so thoughtful and careful and ensured he was safe. Would definitely recommend.
Ivy City Smokehouse is an oldie-but-goodie.
Staff and ambiance is always great. Parking could be tricky but it's worth the experience. My food is always amazing here. I had the fish tacos with blackened salmon. LITERALLY AMAZING. Can't wait to go back, per usual.
Hostess clearly didn't want to be at work.
The food was exceptional... Pricing was more than fair... Drinks were good... Servers were sparse, but the bartender stepped up and helped for the lacking coverage -- he was exceptional. I think his name was Joe/ John -- sorry for the memory lapse.
Scrumptuous
Went before the nWizards game. Had the mussels and shrimp tacos, absolutely. Fabulous. We also had the crab cakes, melt in your mouth

The atmosphere was great, and we had a great view of the city. The food was terrific. We had pulled pork and chicken along with the macaroni, which was out of this world. The staff was friendly and took good care of a large group.

We had reservations for Beat the Bomb down the street, and decided to eat here beforehand. This place doesn't allow spilt checks and also automatically applies 20% tip to parties of 6 or more and also has a 5% operating fee added to all bills. So if going in a big group just plan to have one person pay and figure out what works best for your group afterwards. The service was pretty quick and attentive. We ordered wings for the table and while I don't remember everyone's exact dish there were no complaints on the branzino, burgers, pizza and ribs. It has a very relaxed atmosphere, and definitely a great place to go with friends to catch up.

Ivy City Smokehouse has become a staple in Ivy City for good reason. Not only do they serve up fantastic seafood, but they also create solid drinks that hit the spot every time. One thing I particularly enjoy is catching sports on the TV while I indulge in their delicious offerings. Whether it's a game day gathering or a casual night out, Ivy City Smokehouse delivers on all fronts. It's definitely a go-to spot for seafood lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. The service is solid as well.
Excellent experience having dinner here.
Food was great and so was the atmosphere. Being from out of town, it was a bit pricey, but worth it.
The Brazi.
.. whole fish was delicious had to navigate the bones understandably. Fortunately I could change side dishes for a salad & black beans (seasoned well). Service was good. Ambiance likened to tavern bar. There was outdoor seating

You gotta try the smoked fish board - have had it about 5 times now and it never disappoints. It's the perfect Sunday brunch food and I can't say enough good things about it; even the bagel is excellent. Easy parking, too. I wish I were eating it right now.

A friend and I decided to stop in and we're pleasantly surprised by the lounge, ambience and delicious bites. I will say, I wish I knew they had an elevator as all of those steps took my breath away... But again the food was delicious. We sat at the bar and our service was spectacular. Our bartender made sure that we were well taken care of Decided to get the Rockefeller oysters and a wedge salad with salmon. The oysters came with that delicious buttery bread, and we definitely ordered more of that bread. #Carbs. The salad was definitely fresh and stellar. The salmon was extra and not necessarily needed but it did add extra protein and flavor to the lettuce. I love the fresh chunky blue cheese bit as well. The drinks could be a little stronger, however, they are delicious. But if you like to taste your alcohol, I definitely recommend just drinking straight. I will definitely be returning in the summertime to check out the outdoor patio vibes . and of course I'll be getting on the elevator to get up there. Lol.
Customer service was excellent.
The ambiance put you in the place of seafood warehouse type of vibe. The calamari served as a appetizer not pictured is so tasteful. Now to the main course, no exaggeration the Bronzino was exquisite, and nicely roasted - the garlic butter sauce nicely added to it as well. The roasted Brussel sprouts and rice paired perfectly. I will be returning and requesting the same dish.
Decided to visit on a Saturday evening and it was a packed
Decided to visit on a Saturday evening and it was a packed house with the Ravens game showing! The multiple screens made it easy to watch the game at every seat at the table. Also, even with it being it packed the staff was very attentive and friendly. We all decided to try the restaurant week menu. I was surprised that a majority of there options were seafood or had seafood in it. But honestly I am happy they did because the Branzino was the best dish we had. Everything else was a bit disappointing. We started with salads. The mixed green salad standard and the dressing had a great flavor but the amount of dressing was a little too much for my liking. It would have been more enjoyable if the dressing was on the side and I could manage the salad to dressing ratio. For our entrees we tried the ribs, smash burger and Branzino. The ribs were the most disappointing because I was expecting exceptional ribs from a smokehouse but these weren't my favorite. They weren't flavorful and while the bbq sauce helped, it was vinegar based and unfortunately the only bbq sauce they offer. The smash burger was okay. The best part was the bacon. The size of the patties along with the other things in the sandwich made it more of a slide burger than smash burger. Saving the best for last, we have the Branzino. I was most surprised by how good the Branzino was prepared because we ordered it reluctantly. The flavors were throughout and the fish was light and juicy. It a was served with rice and vegetables. Unfortunately, the rice was very buttery and the vegetables were too salty. I normally would have cared but the Branzino made up for the rest of the dish. We ended the experience with their cheesecake. It was really delicious! Overall, it was an okay experience.
Oh gosh.
It's been a while and Ivy City again, did not disappoint. This time we had mussels! Sooooo good. Blackened salmon was delish. Another win for Ivy City. Oh and the bartender made the perfect dirty martini.
Food was great
I was taking my mom around DC to see the sites. She loves crab cakes. I’m new to the area as well having recently moved but an experienced traveler and trip advisor loyalist. I found this place based on reviews and especially the crab cakes. We went for lunch on a Monday. When taking an Uber and not familiar with the different DC neighborhoods it didn’t appear to be one of the more upscale areas. I googled Ivy City and most of the info talked about that crime was just apart of the area and to keep that in mind. There used to be the DC city winery just down the block but it was boarded up. Across the street was what looked like an industrial type building. Another thing was upon arrival there are 3 flights of stairs to get it the dining area. My mom is older but was able to make it up and down but not easily. On the way out we noticed an elevator but not sure if that is only for deliveries. We started with the garlic shrimp. Loved the broth it came with. We both had the crab cakes. I thought they were excellent. Overall the food was great. A bit out of the way if you are just seeing the DC sites.
Delicious !!!
Delicious!! What a find! We spent the morning at the US national Arboretum and were looking for a lunch spot. How Lucky to have stumbled into Ivy City! The fish board and the house salad where delicious! It’s a super casual happy atmosphere with friendly staff. Loved it!!!
Great find near the Arboretum
TA led us to this place after an afternoon visit to the National Arboretum very close by. The menu is great - many types of offerings, from pizza to seafood. I had a warm vegetarian salad that was very flavorful, and my friend enjoyed her bagel with lox that had been smoked downstairs on site. Service was perfect. Highly recommended.
Accommodated a school group nicely
Our entire group got our own room with a buffet style dinner, the food was great and the staff was friendly. I recommend the Mac and cheese to anyone it was fantastic.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
