iNDO St. Louis Reviews from The Last Year
Nice ambience and pretty cozy inside the restaurant.
Super friendly staffs. Love happy hour pricing. Prepare to order multiple items since the portions are relatively small. Ask for wasabi! Temakis (hand rolls) are my fav! And thank you for rice pudding treat
Definitely worth a try.
The food is delicious but the prices not soo much. We had a three course meal and still felt hungry afterwards. The ceviche appetizer was great. The menu changes often. Loved the tuna! Good rolls Service is quick but they almost make you feel rushed. The ambiance is romantic.

The waiter suggested the number of items for a party of two and it was the perfect suggestion. We started with the rolls and they were a great start. We had the ribs which my companion loved, but were a little too crispy and tough for my taste. The sashimi dish was amazing. So fresh and clean (and I don't usually like raw fish). Lobster fried rice was a favorite for both of us, too. Super flavorful and the rice was cooked perfectly. We splurged and had the short rib curry. I went back and forth deciding whether to get it ($) and I'm so glad we did. It was delicious. I'm not sure I would get it again, but definitely something to try at least once. The service was great. The server was very helpful and attentive most of the time. The first few courses had a really nice flow and we had a couple things on the table at a time. The last couple of courses... not so much. We sat for quite a while waiting for them with only our drinks. Could be they were still new and working out the timing. It wasn't enough to deter us from going back.

We came to Indo for date night recently and had a wonderful experience. The food here was delicious and every bite was packed with tons of flavor. Our waiter was helpful and had good suggestions as far as which dishes to order. Although prices are high, the quality of the fish and amazing flavors stood out throughout this meal. To start off, we ordered the Isaan Hamachi and the Shrimp Toast. The sauce surrounding the hamachi dish was tangy and sweet, which paired well with the fish. I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the shrimp toast was. The texture was great and provided a satisfying crunch. Before coming here, we heard great things about the hand rolls and decided to try the Benitoro, Spicy Tuna, and King Crab. Each roll highlighted the flavor of each fish. We also ordered the salmon curry dish (sake yaki) in order to try out a cooked fish selection. If you are a fan of Thai red curry, I'd highly recommend this dish. This dish was super fragrant and creamy. Lastly, we finished off the meal with some Mint Ice Cream and the Chestnut Cake. Both desserts did not disappoint and provided a nice sweet treat.
Food was fabulous.
It's hard to believe that there could be this amazing in the St Louis. The flavors were excellent. Fantastic service. Our waiter Kyle was very attentive and helpful the whole time. We had a lovely seat in the outdoor section and it was perfect. Inside the lighting was very cozy and calm. We will definitely be coming back and bringing friends.

Wanted to love Indo, but it was just not my cup of tea for the price point. My slaw salad was way too acidic, my main was too spicy- I was in desperate need for something to break up the heat. Very expensive price point for the food received, in my opinion.

I was waiting at the bar after being pleasantly acknowledged by the hostess. A waitress with curly red hair, nose ring and tattoos saw me moments later and told me to go to the front. I explained I'd been helped and she snapped at me telling me to go to the front. I walked out. I can't speak to the food, but the ambiance and service wasn't worth sticking around for.
Visited Indo based on recommendations from friends.
Me and my boyfriend are lovers of sushi and Asian food so we were excited! We made a reservation ahead of time and the restaurant was packed at 7 PM! This restaurant serves small plates and the waitress recommended 3-4 plates for two people. The plates came out one at a time with a short wait time in between each. The issan hamachi was good, can definitely taste the freshness and quality of the fish. The marinade was good, salty and citrusy. Came with 6 pieces. 8/10 Next came the sake yaki. This was a good portion and the salmon was tender and flaky. The sauce was incredibly creamy and flavorful paired with the salmon roe. 10/10 The scallops were highly recommended by our waitress but we were extremely disappointed when the plate came - 2 scallops for $32! It was incredibly delicious, especially the pea purée but not worth it for the one bite we each had. 10/10 Lastly, the omakase featured a wide variety of marinated fish. Great remove, generous fish portions, but on the smaller side (about 2 bites). 8/10 Overall the meal was good but we left unsatisfied due to the price and small portions. For 4 dishes and 2 drinks, the bill was just under $200 with tip and we left hungry. Unfortunately, hours later, my boyfriend's stomach became extremely upset and he ended up throwing up everything. I reached out to the restaurant via their website and Resy with no response so far.
Food was excellent.
Service was excellent. However, we were seated in a back room that felt very separate from the rest of the restaurant. Would like to go back and sit in the main dining room.

We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and ordered the gyoza, shrimp toast, crispy tofu, cabbage salad, Japanese eggplant, short rib curry, and a few of the temaki rolls. We tried to debrief after the meal to pick a favorite, and it was impossible. Everything was incredible. The shrimp toast was a textural treat. The tamarind dressing on the cabbage salad has the most delicate spicy/sweet balance. The Japanese eggplant packs flavor, and the labna it's served with made me want to lick the plate clean. The short rib curry was the perfect way to round out the meal - imagine being curled under a plush blanket in front of a wood burning fire with your favorite book on a snowy day. That is the sensation I was filled with while eating this curry. Honestly my mouth is watering writing this review. Truly divine food, attentive service, intimate ambience. All of the James Beard recognition is so well deserved. iNDO is phenomenal and we will be back again and again.
Service was great! Our server was super dope
Service was great! Our server was super dope personality-wise and very knowledgeable about the menu ambiance was nice the place was a little tight though so I'd suggest a group of 2-4.when you stop by. My favorite part was the food, everything was picture worthy and tasted fresh and amazing I will say I was slightly confused with the Massachusetts Scallops and the yuzu kosho beurre blanc underneath, it flavors weren't what I necessarily expected but paired with the right drink I was pretty happy
Consistently great! Wish it was easier to get reservations .
Service always has been good and servers are always very pleasant!
We will definitely be back and I'm telling all my friends
We will definitely be back and I'm telling all my friends to eat here! The atmosphere was nice, not too noisy. Our server was very nice and informative and gave great recommendations. And the best part of course- the food. It was DELICIOUS. We started with the Shrimp toast which was unique and yummy. The crab fried rice (not pictured) was so good, flavor and crab in every bite. The red curry short rib was amazing. Served with labneh and roti bread. It seriously melted in your mouth and had so much flavor. If you're looking for a dessert that's not too sweet, the ice cream is a good choice. I like sweet, so I liked the chestnut cake better. It was moist, the sauce and fig jam were perfect, and there was a crunch on top, I don't know what it was but the texture and flavor was all pe

Wow! What an exceptional journey! Indo had been on my short list for a while after visiting their newest sister restaurant Sado. Indo has a nice welcoming presence and I had made reservations out on the patio. I was concerned about sitting out on the patio as it was supposed to be chilly on Friday night but was fortunate to find the patio semi-enclosed with numerous heaters, which was a relief! As typical, I wanted to get a taste of everything and ordered an item from every section. I ordered the Melona Fizz to start things off. The melon notes from the Midori with the matcha faba on top made it light and citrusy with a fizziness. The Melona is a nice cocktail for those wanting a drink not saturated with alcohol--and I could just eat an entire glass of that foam! Next, I ordered the big omakase and was presented from bottom to top: hirame with flounder with that kiss of citrus with nice heat from the thai chili; Masu, cherry ocean trout with sesame; the spicy tuna with scallion easily became my favorite bite of the five; Hamachi with scorched yellowtail; and the Toro with scallion which held a pleasant butteryness. The omasake was excellent and fresh and provided you a nice variety of fishes to grace the palate. The Saki Yaki was a bowl of decadence and something I continue crave as I write this review. A lovely piece of salmon resting in a bowl of creamy red curry sauce with Fresno peppers that made the entire dish light, sweet and easy on the heat and enjoyable all around and fully recommend. From the cold dishes, I had the Madai Sashimi which consisted of the sea bream, orange supreme and jalapeno and helped to cut the richness of the curry. The bream was nice and tender and reminded me of yellowtail. The entire dish made me feel like was sitting on the beach rather than in the heart of Mid-town St. Louis. Easily, a great spot with the best seafood around. The shrimp toast boasted a nice contrast of flavors and textures. The shrimp loafer's bread was given a nice crispy exterior it was almost like eating fried chicken, with the cucumber salad and mango chili to offer something fresh with a sweet heat. The gyoza acted as the finale, pork and chicken dumplings draped in a crispy skirt was the final touch to complete the evening. Since returning to St. Louis, I have been on the hunt for a new restaurant to lure me back and now the reminiscent of the experience haunts me - in a good way - and I want to return again and again and bring some friends along next time. A huge shout out to my server Andy who was informative and attentive and great to have met you! Not pictured is the caramel tart with the miso Chantilly...I'm not a caramel fan and I could eat that every night of the week! What a wonderful experience, thank you for having me and encourage you to visit!
as if indo needs another 5 star review.
... but here it is anyway! ambiance and service were top notch and thoroughly enjoyed this fine dining. we ordered the shrimp toast and salmon to share, and got a hand roll each and felt that we were perfectly full and the pricing was actually so fair. would absolutely return for an occasion!
A tight little spot with a good vibe
The spot is located in The Grove neighborhood, has access to a small parking lot, and was easy to find and get to. Upon entry, is a podium to check in...there was a couple that raced us to the front door, they were told there would be a brief wait likely 45 min...we were sat immediately because we had a reservation (for an inside seat). The hostess was kind, polite, and unassuming, and pointed out the layout to us. As we found our seat, i was taken by the smallness of the space...handsomely decorated and quite intimate, we found mostly couples enjoying themselves. The service was kind and worked hard to please. We tried numerous fan favorites, and found each dish was rich and full flavored. Moderate prices with the gratuity added automatically. Will come again.

One dish was so good here, I'm still talking about it with my partner 4 months later. The Isaan Hamachi was one of the best dishes we've ever had. The perfect balance of savory, citrus, aromatic, heat, sweet, and briny flavor. So tender too. The rest of the food was good too, but I'm just so distracted by how good the Isaan Hamachi was. I'm not from St. Louis, but when I'm back, I'm getting it.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
|
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
