While the food and decor at this place is great, the customer service is absolutely atrocious to the point where it’s laughable! First of all the hostess was the most cold, unwelcoming person I’ve ever encountered at a so called “5 star restaurant.” Secondly, the meal that I requested (according to their website) needed to be prepaid in order to even book the reservation, which was all fine until they brought the check to the table and I saw that not only did they charge twice for the same meal BUT the price on the check was drastically different from what was prepaid. We brought the issue to the waiters attention (whom we had to interrupt another server to instruct him to come back to our table after he ignored us for about 20min while pretending to be “busy” running to other tables) and instead of explaining the huge difference in price and correcting it he had the biggest, nastiest attitude, laughed and pretended it wasn’t a real issue and that this habit of switching menu prices is something that happens all the time and he even stated that “it’s not fraud and they can charge any price they want.” At this point we requested the manager, explained the situation and he seemed to be just as clueless. The manager didn’t even understand that their restaurant requires the meal to be prepaid in order to book, he was also unaware of the booking agent that handles their restaurant reservations and he could not explain why the prepaid meal was way more than the amount presented on the check.
I personally think everyone involved in this situation should be fired. This restaurant needs to close for a few days and the staff needs to take a field trip to an actual 5 star restaurant (i.e. Peak in Hudson Yards) and observe their team and the way they run their business and treat customers.
