Hélène Darroze à Villa La Coste Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade Reviews from The Last Year
Great experience!!
It was a very pleasant experience to have this lunch with chef Daroze. The setting is splendid (once you have faced the stairs!), the pleasant room, the staff just perfect (as I like: professional without being stuffy) and the food just extraordinary (and adapted to my tastes impeccably! ) The baba - signature is indescribable because it is so good! It was a gift... and I spent three hours out of time..., magnificent!!
Gentle walk in the gardens of Provence
We knew the Château La Coste estate, its astonishing artistic journey signed by so many famous artists and architects, its Ando café and of course its wines. But for a special occasion, here we are at Hélène's restaurant, as they say here, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in April. We would like to highlight the qualities of this place which fully corresponds to the experience that one can expect from a starred restaurant in a palace in the countryside. First of all, the setting, sober and soothing, but warm and personal. The main room placed on its pool and open to the landscape and the Provençal terrace seduced us with its simplicity, comfort of the seats, tablecloths and tableware both raw and refined. But the interior rooms near the fireplace in winter or the terrace in summer bordered by bowers are all suitable places depending on the time of year. When will we come back? Then, the welcome, elegant and empathetic as it should be in such an establishment, but never heavy or obsequious as in certain large houses. We know how to find the right distance here with respect but sympathy, warmth and kindness. The room manager perfectly orchestrates the ballet of the numerous servers and everyone is highlighted, row managers, diligent but already professional apprentices, kitchen staff in aprons. Bravo and thank you ladies and gentlemen! and thank you for the attention throughout the meal. Finally, the cuisine, plant-based and vegetable-based without being vegan, locavore and without loss as it should be today. It is up to the star, and some dishes are clearly on the level of two macaroons. In particular, we will keep fond memories of the association of beetroot with prawns and caviar, one of the best dishes tasted during our gastronomic wanderings. It is a refined cuisine, precise, complex without being complicated, feminine without a doubt. The vegetable in the center is not just a concept, and the meats, fish and shellfish find a very thoughtful harmony with each of them. We also appreciated the playful nature of certain preparations, in particular the start-up sequence, with the succession of appetizers (delicious asparagus with fingers so well thought out [the lemon one was remarkable]) or the search for original condiments from the palette of early fruits. Finally, the sweet part is up to par, with a remarkable pre-dessert on the theme of bread and a powerful chocolate composition without bitterness. Bravo to Hélène, but also to her executive chef and her cooks who put her inspiration into concrete projects every day for the happiness of the guests. Thank you also for all the delicious sides which delighted us from arrival to departure and which contributed to the well-being we felt. In all humility, and without in any way calling into question the exceptional quality/price ratio of the cuisine, we have one or two comments to make upon rereading, so that tripadvisor readers have an objective opinion on our experience. A few minor points could be improved. First of all, access to the restaurant is not up to par with the rest. This almost hidden staircase between the room and the delivery access is not really successful and I don't know what people who have travel difficulties can do (go through the hotel?). Overall, the architect that I am is surprised at the lack of respect here for accessibility standards for establishments open to the public. Of course, the framework is even more refined, but these apply to everyone! Then, although the cellar book is splendid, it is almost inaccessible! That a young Romanée Conti comes close to having to spend a total of an A booklet is an option, but that the estate's wines - very pleasant indeed - are billed with a coef 6, that's a bit exaggerated. In short, come for the cuisine and keep your LDD to enjoy great wines in a more reasonably priced setting! It is all the more surprising since the price of the menus is much more fairly priced (if you do not subscribe to the supplements which add up very or even too quickly. One of the dishes, certainly based on fresh morels and a slice of exceptional beef is subject to a supplement varying between 2/3 and half of the price of the basic menu...) Furthermore, if the quantities suited us perfectly, it should be noted that the portions remain light (especially the fish or squab) and that a big eater or at least a good appetite could remain hungry. (This was not our case!) Finally, if the room manager knows how to perfectly convey the genesis of the dishes, with precision and an always pleasant touch of humor, a visit from the chef would only be fair and would have allowed us to congratulate him (her?) without taking anything away. to the genius of Hélène who cannot be everywhere! We particularly appreciate this foray into the dining room at the end of the meal, and we missed it here. Thank you again for all the attention up to the autographed Polaroid, a souvenir of the celebrated event. All our congratulations and our best wishes for continued success at this very pretty table.
Flawless (Christmas lunch)
Very nice discovery of this gourmet restaurant. My wife and I came there to celebrate my birthday. Very warm welcome as well as the service. A very nice taste discovery. We will return!
Luxury, calm and voluptuousness...addition accordingly.
Beautiful gourmet cuisine, and ultimately quite classic. The mannerisms of the time are respected, obviously (the little broth as a teaser, the title of the dishes inverted and unnecessarily complicated, highlighting the vegetable, then the meat or fish, the works of modern art...) but the plates are tasty and rather generous, from starter to dessert. Perfect and attentive service. Adorable and sharp sommeliers. Clean setting overlooking nature. A beautiful place and the desire to come back.
Magnificent setting and decor but a little disappointing food
The estate is surprising due to the works of art, the general layout, the maintenance...all this makes it an exceptional place in which to spend time. the Hélène Darroze restaurant is also exceptional due to its architecture and decoration . All the staff are very professional. The cuisine is sophisticated and original (a little too much for our taste) the starter made from very small vegetables did not have much taste. The surprising mackerel and beetroot dish. The untasty wolf. The squab excellent, the dessert too powerful in chocolate. The appetizers and sweet treats were a little disappointing. We were expecting another meal for a three star hotel. In our opinion the cuisine is not up to the standard of either the establishment or the estate
Very nice experience
Sublime culinary experience, flavors hitherto unknown to me like nasturtium sorbet I would have given it 5 stars if the price of the wines was not so exaggerated. Having a good knowledge of wines, our son is a winegrower in Châteauneuf du Pape. I have rarely seen prices like that for the same wines...hence the fact that there were hardly any bottles on the tables but only wine by the glass, which, however, started at €29 for end up at 100€ for a 14 centiliter glass..
A wonder.
We had a great time having lunch “Walk in the gardens of Provence” with my wife. Each dish reconciles you with vegetables, the flavors are enhanced by their preparations and their sauces. The dessert was on par with the dishes. A thank you to the very friendly and professional staff. Also worth a visit is a visit to the hotel, a real contemporary art museum.
A setting of beauty where nature and art united shine.
Here, everything is done for pleasure. Friendliness reigns and young staff take great care of you. A setting of beauty where nature and art united shine. A 3-strip menu with finely crafted, high-quality products. As is often the case, the desserts are a little subpar, but nothing that diminishes the happiness spent here. Benevolent generosity. Room to have fun in the art reading or gaming lounges. Is there such a big difference in the pleasure felt with a 2 or 3 star?
A very nice experience
Very nice experience Hélène Darroze’s signature dessert First act: presentation of a plate, where the decor is set little by little. Two subjects come into play. Second act: What follows is the solemn arrival of a cart carrying three vintages of Armagnac. The staging of the ceremony can begin. Third act: they cut your baba in two lengthwise, the edge of the knife presses on the firm shell of the cake, and sinks softly into the crumb, it’s already the beginning of pleasure, the palate is in turmoil. Then comes the explanation of the different vintages of Armagnacs with their aromatic specificities, their complexities, the spices, the roundness, the vanilla, the hazelnut, the perceived level of alcohol, the strength. The choice of vintage is now up to you, and the feeling of influencing your own dessert... Like a spectator at an Ariane Mnouchkine play. In the end I decide: half 1975, the other half will be 1989… Classicism, the love of an enhanced spirit rounded with softer aromas seduces me and takes me back to my natural inclinations. The liquid spreads slowly and soaks the brioche. The baba has just been created in front of you with Armagnac! Then the saffron whipped cream is added, bringing color and lightness, like a cloud. And the firm pear caramelized with honey… Who seems to be waiting for his turn, like a cello in an orchestra, bringing his range at the appropriate moment. I am then advised to take a little of each in one bite So what … There…. A fireworks display appears in the mouth: The soft texture of the baba, soaked in armagnac, wet, whose alcohol brings a warm and round presence, the cloud of whipped saffron cream, with a soft, fresh texture, of which we anticipate a dense structure in the mouth but which at the same time The opposite evaporates like a mist and the piece of firm, caramelized pear which neutralizes the alcohol and gives a real chewiness to the mouth while being sweet... So you close your eyes, you refocus on your inner self and you savor this moment of ephemeral happiness that the poetry of the dishes offers you.
Absolutely stunning
What can we say about this gastronomic discovery by chef Darroze... a great moment for the taste buds on the occasion of my darling's birthday... a big thank you to the attentive team... we had the 5-course menu, an ode to vegetables from our region flavors exceptional technical mastery... the mussels with caviar... the small vegetables that we garnish with this fabulous olive oil... the just perfect lamb and the signature baba to top it all off... we don't have couldn't finish the treats and we were kindly offered to leave with these little Dogy bags... congratulations to the whole team for this work (the negative comments are in bad faith, it's obvious) mention also for the natural and very luxurious setting … in short, a waking dream!!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
