Stopped writing yelp reviews a long time ago, but man this place takes the cake for inciting a poor, poor review. TLDR; horrible service, poorly managed, and food was not worth the $40 + tax per person. My question for you is: have you ever left an AYCE shabu shabu hungry? Read on for details. This review is coming from someone who has dined at different hot pot/shabu shabu restaurants in Sac and Bay Area. Walked in on a Fri night with a group of three others. This was my first official meal of the day, had a long day and came in with a headache. My friends also had long days and and one person had just gone to the gym so we were all looking for a filling dinner. Hostess was not that clear on where to seat us. Ordered a split soup (spicy tonkotsu and spicy miso) and entrees for AYCE and the soup was actually the only decent thing at this restaurant. Meat came out so slow that by the time last call came around, we had already waited nearly 20 min for food. Our waiter (didn't get his name) was nice enough to double our second order of meat to make up for the fact. The woman who was serving us had a HORRIBLE, short attitude with us as if she hated her job, hated the patrons, and didn't want to be there. This poor attitude continued all night as evidenced by other low-star reviews. The heat apparently had to be turned down on the pot because if it were too high, the whole restaurant would shut down from the electricity shortage (?????) Never heard of that at a restaurant, but weird and should definitely get that fixed. Was very irritated that my shabu shabu meat which should be cooked in less than 10 sec, took 2 min to cook fully through and then clumped together and foamed because the pot was simmering not boiling. Didn't feel satisfied upon leaving both with food and service. If the restaurant is understaffed, fine so be it, however don't take out your frustrations onto your customers and slack on your work. My impression is that this is also a management issue and no one cares about how the waiters and waitresses are doing their job. I love to take photos of food everywhere I eat at, but I just now realized that I have no photos of my dinner from tonight because I was so preoccupied with the poor service, lack of food, or trying to eat whatever meager portions we had to split between 4 people. ALSO, was not offered complimentary ice cream even though we watched other tables being served it. My only solution is: don't dine here. 0/10. PLEASE save your money and go somewhere else unless you want the thought of eating a second meal after dining here to cross your mind.
