Good drinks and food during happy hour
If you plan on eating there make sure to get reservations as the bar can quickly fill up. They have 3 drink options to choose from during happy hour and a few apps that are decent. The normal menu is also good, with pizzas and apps. The food priced are a little high so if you have time I suggesting eating elsewhere first as this place feels more of a bar rather than a restaurant.

I donโt know what I was expecting exactly, but oh, my, it took me by surprise. The mystery, twisty underground path to this Love City lounge was as intriguing as the vibe here. The Ruby Slippers and Queenโs Club cocktails kept us hydrated, at least thatโs what I think we had, I was very busy surrendering to the surroundings. Whatโs not to love when your date asks a great question and leans in to hear your answer, fabulously framed in a green velvet and bowling alley backdrop. The corner table was the perfect place to tell tales and share secrets and dreams. Itโs also a good place to have a lean-over-just-for-the-hell-of-it fairy tale kiss. But only if youโre into that kinda thing. Some might say itโs even the best part. Sorry, mixologists and super servers. You were also magnificent. Atmosphere-10. Libations-10. Service-10. Company-12. Kiss-25. Like the special and dazzling human who accompanied me here, and whose birthday it is, I would come back to this place.
Be the first to ReplyBest brunch in years
If you're of a certain age (like me), you'll recall a time when a great Sunday brunch buffet was a norm, with many restaurants doing it well. Those days seem to be largely in the past. Brunch at H&C is a welcome throwback. We went yesterday. The room is warm and inviting. There was a reasonable variety of options from apps to sides to mains to deserts. Everything we tried was spot-on and well prepared. Service was excellent: the waitress did not hover, was available when we wanted, and we were not rushed out. The only negative is that with only one chef making two omelets at a time, there were at times a fairly significant line for a custom omelet. That said, I waited a bit for the line to subside, and the omelet was well worth the wait. I definitely recommend this brunch, and we'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyA rushed and limited Happy Hour in a beautiful space
Got to the restaurant a little past 4:00 pm to take advantage of Happy Hour. Lucky we did, the place gets crowded quickly w a young and boisterous crowd. Sat in the front entry area - very cozy and comfortable. Service was friendly but a bit rushed. Limited Happy Hour menu, both food and drink. The dishes were average but not great. The โpizzaโ is really a flatbread and just okay. Prices very fair making the entire experience worthwhile.

Awesome little lower level Speakeasy! Get there early because they fill up quickly! Drinks were reasonable and service was decent.
Be the first to ReplyGreat brunch
We love coming here for brunch on Sundays. It is buffet style with lots of options and everything is quite tasty. The ambience inside reminds me of an old bank, darker woods, etc adds to the appeal. Service is always excellent and you can't beat the price considering what you get. Multiple options of tasty food and buffet style. Can get busy, but even then it's not too bad. Highly recommend for your next leisurely brunch.

Service was excellent, food tasted very well and the ambience is special here. My colleagues and I really enjoyed it!
Be the first to ReplyToo many requirements for large parties (event fee!)
Was hoping to have a family brunch at H&C in April. Was told there would be a 5% โevent feeโ for our party of 20. They also want a 50% deposit and a signed contract! Another 25% is due a week before. When I said itโs not an event the manager was unhelpful and dismissive. Heard the place is lovely but wonโt be going there given this unpleasant experience.
Be the first to ReplyChefs do not know what "Tasting Menu" means
We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu as everything on the menu looked good, we were pretty hungry, and thought this would be a good way to try a bit of everything. We also assumed that "tasting menu" meant exactly that: smaller portions of the menu items so we could get a *taste* of each one. We were wrong. What they call a "tasting menu" is actually an 8 course FULL SIZED meal. Literally everything was in its full-sized portion. If I was eating by myself and ordered this, I have no idea how the restaurant would expect one person to consume two full appetizers, a whole pizza, whole dish of pasta, an entire steak, and basically two salads AND dessert. The two of us couldn't finish it all and took home 3 boxes of leftovers that will give us enough for our next two meals. My recommendation is not to order the "tasting menu" unless you have at least 4 people in your party, as what you are ordering is, in actuality, 8 full-sized meals. The food itself was ok. The tuna carpacchio was really good. Pizza was average. Steak was a little dry. Cheesesteak egg rolls were ok. Brussels sprouts were ok. Beets were pretty good. I probably would have enjoyed everything more if I wasn't already stuffed by the third course. Other than that, it is a nice place, beautiful on the inside, with good drinks and excellent service. The crowd was pretty obnoxious, but that's not the restaurant's fault, on a Saturday night. I would probably come again, during the week, and I'll order only ONE thing!
Be the first to ReplyGreat all around spot!!
Man this place is GREAT!!!! I hope the owner of this spot reads reviews because this place needs to know they are doing good things!!! I am from Phoenix and was visiting Philly for a family wedding. I had to plan a dinner for a group of 11 all with very different dietary habits and restrictions including a 9 year old and an 11 year old. Picked this place because it was close to our hotel and menu looked like it had good variety of foods and quality healthy options for a somewhat reasonable price for a big group especially considering I knew my Dad was going to insist on picking up the check (most generous dude I know). From start to finish everything was amazing and our waiter KAREEM was the man!!! If you guys are negotiating contracts for waiters soon this dude deserves the SUPER MAX contract!!! Really appreciated his service and drinks/food/desserts were so damn good!! If you pick this place you will not be disappointed. Trust me.
Be the first to ReplyNot an oasis of calm
Having come to Philly for the first time and at short notice I did some quick research on a restaurant for my wife and son for Friday night dinner. Various articles and reviews led me to the Harp & Crown. The name โHarpโ itself invokes strings playing dreamily in the background. The reviews and pictures of its own website suggests a cathedral-like quietness, space and tranquillity. Boy, did we get a shock when we walked in on time for our reservation. The bar was ram packed, with quite a few medical personal in their scrubs (thank you for your service) enjoying Friday night drinks. The place was louder and more frenetic than A & E and a soccer stadium in one. With temperatures close to 100F/38C outside we decided to stick it out especially as the food got good ratings in reviews. After a hot 10 minute wait in a congested area, we were shown to a diner-like booth close to the bar. Our server, Olivia, who must be an opera singer by training had to literally shout at the top of her lungs at us to take our order. Good thing she was proficient in sign language too. I asked my wife if she had her Remarkable2 tablet with her to write on to communicate our orders but she had left it at home. Oliviaโs service was excellent. Sadly our 14 year old did not enjoy his pizza as he complained it was all too loud around him. The starters were generally good but some misses too. The pierogies and chicken dumplings were fantastic. The lamb balls were for anyone who like Lebanese, Spanish or Turkish cuisine lacking in flavour. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. There is clearly huge potential in the Harp & Crown but not everyone enjoys soccer stadium-like atmospheres to eat in. The website was quite frankly misleading. Not sure what we would go back for.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place with great service
My girlfriend and I just went for some drinks at the bar. Very cool ambiance. Our bartender was Andy, who was on his first shift after finishing training and he was great. Such a friendly guy and made the experience very pleasant. The host was super friendly as well and gave us a little tour downstairs of the secluded bar and the bowling alley. Definitely need to check that out! Have been here before and definitely will return, but shout out to the awesome staff this time!

Food is good, not overly large portions but definitely fresh and individually prepared. Service is definitely well run machine. Enjoy the fresh pasta
Be the first to ReplyGreat flatbread, but not pasta
Excellent service and atmosphere. This is definitely the hot spot for friends, family, and dates - it was incredibly packed even at 10pm for a dinner. Drinks - excellent choices. The Red Slippers are very well made and worth trying. Food: - bolognse - 3/5 - tasty, but not filling. Small portions and the noodle is very thin. - lamb meatballs - 4/5 - juicy, not too dry, and well cooked. - kale salad - 5/5 - great taste and healthy. - flatbread - 5/5 - extremely delicious, thin, and well made. The truffle one was to die for - philly eggroll - 4/5 - unique tasting, good crisp Overall, supe fun spot and would come here again.
Be the first to ReplyBrotherly Brunch
It was great to find a restaurant full of life during COVID! They did a very good job the with brunch buffet being staged around the bar. Great food and a large variety of choices. On the other hand, $35 was a bit expensive for the experience. Charging me for soda refills that were 3/4 filled with ice was annoying. It is clear that they are trying to make money from pushing the big drink menu. Overall, great place, but we did feel a bit taken advantage.
Be the first to ReplyGood but too loud
We came here for dinner on a Friday evening. I had made a reservation via the phone four days earlier. They had no record of it but we were seated in the back anyway. We were a party of four. To start I ordered the tuna carpaccio. It was wonderful. My husband ordered the crab and avocado appetizer. He loved it. For dinner two of us ordered the seared scallops. They enjoyed it. I ordered the hanger steak and it was very good (although it arrived a full five minutes earlier than everyone elseโs meal - awkward!). My husband had the roasted salmon. He thought it was way to overcooked and dry. It was served with large beans which were not cooked at all. They were impossible to eat. His dish arrived last. Odd timing on the food. During dinner we ordered several bottles of wine and cocktails. We had to repeatedly remind the waiter that we were waiting on the wine. He would quickly disappear and reappear with the wine and cocktails. I did not appreciate having to constantly remind him. Our server was Jamie. Otherwise he was OK. The one thing you have to be warned of is the noise level. It was difficult to hear our dining partners across the table at times. The music was odd and way too loud.
