I didn't find this restaurant extraordinary, menu is limited to what I like. The view is superb that was the positive.
Be the first to ReplySetting was nice by the cruise ships.
Food delicious and our waiter from France was outstanding. We recommend giving it a try.
Be the first to Replyterrible service.
actually walked out. they say us and had us there 20 minutes without acknowledging us to order anything. I think this was first time I have ever walked out of a restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed- the restaurant inside was empty.
Outside was 65% full. Host told me they were full - he didn't want to seat me at all then told me it would be 1.5 hours - this was a Monday. There were lots of side tables - bar seats. Decided to leave based on 1-atmosphere being weak 2-host being RUDE. Vibe - old, boring, stuffy - decided to leave and go to Soul and very happy I did - amazing service, great vibe, sat within 15 minutes and it was packed.

The restaurant has a very nice outdoor eating area that over looks the harbor. They also have a bar area inside for dining. I had the fish and chips. It came with two large pieces of fish in a very light batter. They had tartar sauce and vinegar if you needed anything else for the fish. The fries had a Parmesan topping. That was a nice touch. My wife had the seafood chowder which had shrimp, scallops and potatoes. We shared an order of shrimp mac & cheese. It was excellent. The service was outstanding from start to finish.

Excellent food and attentive service (our server was Ethan). The small seafood platter had a variety of hot and cold seafood including tasty roast prawns, steamed mussels, fresh sashimi, raw oysters and tender squid, all beautifully presented. The poached salmon was incredibly tender and moist. Seated at a table across from the semi-open kitchen, we were mesmerised by the teamwork of the kitchen staff in fulfilling the food orders. Each dish was put together by a team, like an orchestra of different musicians creating a musical piece. There was a Coordinator (I think named Santosh) who kept an eye on each dish as it was being completed and ensured prompt and accurate delivery of the right order to the right table. Bravo to the staff!

We both had fish & chips ($32) and unwittingly ordered a $12 bottle of still water (didn't quite catch the difference between the free tap water and the costly bottle and the maitre'd wasn't clear. We also had a very good $13 glass of (alcoholic) apple cider and another $12 bottle of sparkling water. The view over the water is magnificent if blinding on a mid-winter's day. Even lowering the darkening shade didn't help, so I wore my hat during most of lunch. The fish... magnificent. Some of the best I've ever had (and i'm English AND I lIke exploring different fish fries on offer during Lent, so I know my fish). They used snapper, not cod, and they get their fish fresh off the docks at 4am each morning. The batter is incredible as well, which made for a crazy good fried fish. Improvements I would suggest: Provide more than that tiny little.bowl of vinegar. One, the quantity is wholly insufficient and two, who can accurately pour from a cup with a lip half as wide as the bowl itself? It all lands on the plate, not the fish. You provide more tartar sauce than vinegar... no. I tried dipping my chips in it, and... no. Too small. That salt cellar is an injustice. You clearly invest in high quality salt, but the flat, open dish in which it is displayed made me shudder. I envisioned fingers in it, people even dipping food in it... ew. I get that people run off with tiny little spoons if they're provided to dispense the salt, which gets expensive. If you want to use those little dishes, I'd put it on the table after the guests are seated and have the server murmur "Fresh salt for you..." Inquire if the guests would like ketchup. Sometimes people are too embarrassed to ask, and I imagine you have a fair number of Americans coming through. To bring it to the next level: Make your own ketchup in the summer and bottle or freeze enough for the year. House made ketchup is a joy everyone should experience, but sadly few do. Maybe also keep a couple bottles of Heinz in the back for those who simply cannot experience condiments without high fructose corn syrup. Add more cream to the mushy peas. Offer a choice of chips: the traditional "pencil" shape or thick cut. Personally, I'm a thick cut kind of person. All in all, a very good lunch.

This restaurant sits right next to the ferry terminal so there's a lovely view of the boats and Auckland harbour just as the name suggests. Staff were also polite throughout our visit. This is a fine dining restaurant so it's expensive with small portions but each dish is certainly an experience with great presentation. If you're a lover of seafood this is the place to go! I had the Seared Hokkaido Scallops and Coromandel Green Lipped Mussels for entrées, then the Game Fish for my main course. All were delicious, I just wish there were more scallops on the plate for the price paid.

Food was very okay. Nothing special for the price they charge. We got charged $10 for some plain bread I ordered for my toddler.

First of all, we arrived for a 7pm reservation and notwithstanding the restaurant was 80% empty, we were told we would have to wait for our table. We waited 20 minutes in a restaurant that was almost empty. We ordered Salmon which came with potatoes and Rib Steak which came with green beans and we ordered a side of steamed broccolini. When the main course arrived, the potatoes with the salmon were refrigerator cold. The Rib Steak had broccolini instead of beans which was also cold. Then a side of broccolini came ... Ice cold. Like it had been sitting in a refrigerator. The rib steak was only warm so had obviously not just come off a grill. Overall a terrible experience.

This was our best meal during a two week visit to New Zealand. The location and view is fabulous. They sat us inside (our preference) with a full view of the harbor. It was perfect. Everyone from the host to the servers and busers were kind and solicitous. We each had a salad to start, I had arugula (rocket to our NZ and British friends). BF had the filet and I had the lamb, but we shared them both. I asked the server to recommend a glass of wine and he brought me the Greystone Pinot Noir. It was great and paired beautifully. I had a second glass, which i don't do very often. (We're light weights when it comes to alcohol.). We finished by splitting the lemon pavlova. The meal wasn't cheap. But it was worth it. We left happy and full and feeling pampered.

Perfect spot for lunch! We had a nice view of the harbor while dining. The grilled fish was delicious & the oysters & nigiri were also top notch. Was a nice place for a leisurely lunch with a couple of glasses of wine. The atmosphere inside was also great. Would love to go back there for dinner!!
Be the first to ReplyWe made this reservation months ago in Arizona on line.
We found this to be the best of three places we tried. The service was great and wine prices were reasonable. The decor of the restaurant was great. We ate outside overlooking the harbor which was very pleasant. The only drawback was that although there is an elevator, this is an old building and there are 6 steps to make it into the restaurant once one is out of the elevator. My wife is in a wheelchair so this was a little bit of a challenge. The staff was very helpful with this challenge,so we did fine. The food was great.I had the squid karaage which was great as was the red snapper special. My wife had sushi and salmon which were quite good.We didn't have dessert as we were quite full, but they looked great.I don't know when we will be back in NZ,but when we return we will definitely come back
Be the first to ReplySalty, unappetizing raw oysters.
Sushi rolls were fairly flavorful. Robs green salad was unremarkable but what's typical in Auckland? Her snapper was disappointing for a fish fan. How could this place have earned 4+ ??
Be the first to ReplyThe decor is nice and classy but comfortable.
Service is very good and friendly.Food doesn't meet my expectation.Steaks is tough and not flavorful.Fish dishes is nothing special.

The desert was ecstatic! Accompanied with fantastic desert wine. Not to mention the seafood platter. Would definitely recommend and return myself.

Amazing experience! This place was highly recommended by some of my New Zealander friends, so I stopped by for lunch. Restaurant is gorgeous with breathtaking views of the Harbour. Food and service was spectacular. Started with the sashimi and my god it was delicious. Presentation was really nice, the fish was super fresh and it just melted in your mouth like butter. For entrees ordered the local New Zealand fish. The grilled hapuka and John Dory were very well prepared and tasty. The prawn Mac and cheese was also really good. Quite possibly the best fish I've had in a long time.Truly a 5 star experience.

Excellence in the middle of the tourist center!I'll often shy away from eateries in the touristy areas, as the quality can be suspect and the value missing. Well, don't shy away from Harbourside, they were outstanding, quite possible one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. All else about the experience was first rate!
