Hana-Maui Resort Reviews from The Last Year
Loved our stay (but wouldn’t stay more than one night)
A very special place, especially compared to the rest of busy, bustling Maui… really felt like you were on the edge of the island after driving hours on the Road to Hana. Were rooms a little dated? Sure, in the most charming way possible! We slept with deck glass doors open (screen doors closed), with crashing waves lulling us to sleep. Pool was uncrowded, relaxing way to slide into Hana vibe. Free laundry room allowed us to replenish clothes while enjoying laid-back spirit. Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is limited food options. On-property breakfast was beyond great, one of best meals on trip…. Kids still talking about Hawaiian sweet bread French toast! But Hana Ranch restaurant is literally only sit-down dinner in town, and that meal, while good, cost $250 for equivalent of burgers and fries for four. Just can’t see where one would eat if staying more than one night..
Truly paradise
The road to Hana is spectacular and you will be so grateful that you stopped to spend the night at this elegant and picturesque resort. We stayed in an oceanfront bungalow, and the views were spectacular from the moon rising at night over the ocean to the sun rising the next morning. The bungalows are well appointed with huge decks and sunbeds to relax and enjoy the scenery. There are many activities and a spa and a beautiful infinity pool with a bar. We hated to leave!
A gem in the countryside
Beautiful resort in Hana. We got the garden view room. It was huge. Love the patio with access to the garden/ lawn, and ocean view! The ranch restaurant was nice with good selections of food and drinks. Red sand beach is within walking distance. Also convenient to other sight seeing sites. Walking around the resort is already a nice activity since it’s very beautiful with lots of lush greens and beautiful flowers. I will definitely come back again!
Surprisingly good quality
Nicest place we stayed at even with a basic room. It was huge and the staff went above and beyond. I would go back here before I went back to places in Weilaia. It was at the end of the road to Hana, and so nice compared to hitting 2hrs of winding roads back the same day. Remote and kind of rustic, it was a beautiful place to relax
Location, location, location...
You get what you pay for, but not always… and what for we paid to stay at the Hana-Maui Resort, I expect a LOT more. Of course, location, location, location is really their best feature; but that’s pretty much it. We stayed in one of their ocean front, jacuzzi bungalows, the view was of course amazing, however, the rooms themselves were fairly rundown. Moldy lamp shades, broken blinds, and the hot tub on the patio kept over spraying the wall; so if you had the jets on, you were sprayed in the back of the head as you got up or reached to turn them off. When we checked in, they offered a small (very small) credit per day, if we opted to not have housekeeping clean our room, but were told we could phone if we needed anything. Since we were only staying for two nights, we chose this option. However, what we didn’t realize, was that the small credit was even smaller, as we were only credit for one day, and not the two nights we paid for. When I questioned this, they said it was only for the full day we stayed… would have been nice if they had been more clear. As I would have NOT opted in and would have preferred to have fresh, dry towels in lieu of a miserly credit. Instead, we had to make do with 4 towels for 2 people to shower and use the hot tub, we of course needed more. I had to call multiple times and wait most of the evening for fresh towels to arrive and when they did, we were only supplied with two additional bath towels, no extra hand or wash towels. Finally on our last night, after eating at the Ranch restaurant (owned by the hotel) the restaurant staff phoned for a golf cart to pick us up. We normally would have no problem walking, but it was dark and quite a ways back to the room; the paths are winding and we weren’t super confident we would find our way. So we waited, and waited, and waited… after about 25 mins and a second phone call from the restaurant staff to the resort, we opted to walk. And what a wonderful walk it was, wondering through the dark on the maze of paths, which was made even better as it began to pour down rain. Apparently, you are ONLY paying for location, because the service just did not exist.
Lovely but a little lacking
This is a really lovely place, but it describes itself as "luxury" while missing the mark on a few features that would really hit that bar. On the plus side, we sprung for an ocean-front suite for our honeymoon, and the view was impeccable and soothing to sleep to. The spa was also incredible, and my husband and I both had the best massage we've ever had. On the minus side, their main restaurant and dry goods store were both closed during our stay, and this was not communicated at the time of booking (nor did it seem to reflect in the rate despite major facilities were offline). This was disappointing as the food options in Hana are already limited, and we are vegetarians, so it is harder still. There were two (non-salad) dishes to pick from for lunch and diner for our entire stay (and one was a Beyond Burger, which you can only eat so many times). The rooms also lack features like microwaves, plates, silverware/cutlery, to make preparing food for yourself in the kitchenette a real option, and even the coffee pot, which made only 2oz beverages, was deficient for self-service. I was also very surprised the pool didn't have a hot tub or other source of heat, so if you are there when the weather is less than perfect, it is too cold for even a dip. All together, we still enjoyed our stay and were happy with the experience, but it doesn't meet expectations of "luxury" compared to similarly priced/described places in Maui. It is still a lovely home base for a visit to Hana, and after that drive, spending at least one night is a good idea!
Two night stay
We stayed in the waterfront bungalows. Even though the rooms were a bit dated, they were very nice with a lot of space. My only complaint was I expected a room closer to the water. Great deck with comfortable lounge chairs. The grounds were beautiful.
Fabulous Property for Relaxation
We loved this property. Not only is it beautiful and modern, but personnel are top notch. I had a great massage at the spa while there. The dining room was closed for renovations but the Hana Ranch across the street filled in. Transportation provided for those who didn’t want to walk the short distance. Highly recommend this property - it’s gorgeous.
A magical place with incredible views! The seaside
A magical place with incredible views! The seaside bungalows are cozy and well-appointed, and spaced out enough that the place felt almost empty (in the best sense). The bungalows have climate control, but we didn't need it. Below our window was a grassy cliff over the ocean, with the surf roaring day and night and a perpetual cool breeze. The food at the on-site breakfast restaurant and the nearby dinner restaurant was excellent, as was the service throughout. We enjoyed the pools and a craft class, but the best part was the view of the ocean and sky at sunrise. All this, and it puts you within a short drive of beautiful places like Haleakala National Park and Waianapanapa State Park for hiking, swimming, and exploration. Maybe the best destination resort we've ever stayed at! Make it part of any visit to Maui!
The correct way to experience true Hawaii.
Amazing experience all the way around. This is the best way to experience real Hawaii and not feel like you are in a tourist trap. Beautiful Ocean Views from all the bungalows. You feel like you have your own private cabin on a beautiful grassy hillside over the ocean. Locals are so friendly and make you feel like family. You have to go to Bradda Hutts for a meal too. Don't miss it!
The Hana Hyatt Resort breakfast was great! I had the
The Hana Hyatt Resort breakfast was great! I had the breakfast meal, my daughter got the yogurt & fruit plate, my son got the Mochiko pancakes and my wife had the steak and eggs. I sampled all and thought the pancakes were the best! Our waitress was very pleasant and even brought my daughter extra watermelon cause she asked for more. The view was amazing and price on par with a resort. If you are ever in Maui check out Hana Hyatt Resort!
Very nice
The Resort grounds are beautiful but they expect you to leave electronics at home. The rooms are large, but no tv, no AC and very few outlets in the room. They provide 2 large fans for airflow but only one outlet where they can plug in. The pool area and views are spectacular. Not much to do in Hana but relax.
Worth The Expense If You Stay Oceanfront
This property has been on our bucketlist for sometime, so when we had the opportunity, we booked it immediately. We arrangedf, from the hotel concierge, for a private plane to take us from the main Maui airport right to the Hana airport. We did the 3.5 hour drive to Hana years ago - it was wonderful, but 1 time is enough. We flew to the resort in 15 minutes with an incredible view of the ocean and cost. The ride was magical! When we arrived, the room wasn't ready so we walked the beautifully landscaped property and sat in a covered patio bed overlooking the pool and ocean. It was amazing. When the room was ready, they drove us to our king oceanfront bungalow with hottub (room #217). It exceeded our expectations. The view was breathtaking. The studio and bathroom were spacious and airy, the hot tub and deck area were private enough and had an amazing oceanfront view. In the morning we arose to watch the sunrise from our hot tub and an in-suite coffee, while other hotel guests watched it, cliffside, seated in white adiraondack chairs, below our bungalow on stilts,. At night, we watched the moon and stars above us, while in the hottub, listening to the waves crash in the quiet night. What an ethereal experience. You really have to be someone who likes or loves quiet. To top off the night, we slept with the sliding glass door open to the sounds of the crashing waves, What a property! The staff was positive and helpful. If we needed ice, we just called the front desk and they had someone drop it off within minutes. I took advantage of the 7am meditation (oceanview) and the 8am Yoga, while my husband utilized the gym. We met at 9am at the hotel restaurant for breakfast. We had a package where the breakfast was included so each morning we tried something different. Great view at breakfast overloooking the property and ocean. With regard to other eating options, the food trucks on the edge of the property were awesome. Fun eating. We ate twice at the property's Hana Ranch. Food was very good, nice ambiance, cool to watch the locals as well. We did not use the spa. We can't wait to go back again someday.
A place to relax and indulge in the beauty of tropical Maui
The resort is among the unspoiled tropical beauty of Maui. Crashing waves that never stop were outside our ocean front unit. The grounds of the resort are beautiful in their simplicity and are well maintained. We wanted a place to enjoy the natural beauty of Maui, and feel secluded and tranquil. And we had that. It is a place to relax. There is no night life, except maybe music nearby on weekends. The town of Hana is very small. Restaurant options are the resort and the food trucks, during the day. Another restaurant in town was closed for remodeling while we were there. The food trucks were wonderful. The resort provides a ride to the beach, which was an awesome experience. The staff were consistently gracious, welcoming, helpful, in every way. The spa and massage were excellent. We stayed 4 nights. This was perfect for us. Fewer nights, we would not have relaxed. There is no cell signal, but the wifi was strong. We used a driver to take us from Kahalui, who was recommended by the resort conceirge, and he was great. We returned to Kahalui for our flight home by the small plane operated by Mokulele Airlines, and we enjoyed that, too. The only improvement might be better coffee, and a menu that changes more often. This is an expensive place to stay. But you are paying to sit comfortably among some of the most beautiful oceanfront in the world. The waterfront unit was worth it.
Truly wonderful experience
The View out our room was absolutely spectacular. The ocean was right there and we could see it and hear it all the time. The staff were very helpful and very friendly. We walked around a lot and loved the quietness of the area. A local said that he thinks about it as the original hawaii. I liked that.
Great vacation
The Hana Maui is a first class resort. The rooms were spectacular as were the sunrises. The serene setting is great for total relaxation. The service is second to none and the hotel amenities are everything you would want.
Hana Maui.
... It's a Hyatt. Don't save your points for the Maui Andaz, there are (comparable enough) resorts in Wailea. Save points for The Hana Maui, it is magical! The bungalows have air conditioning now but still no tv; you won't miss it. If you are going to Maui take the road to Hana, it is not "about the journey" it's about the Hana Maui! Get there sleep there wake up there pet the cats.
This is the most peaceful place I have ever stayed or
This is the most peaceful place I have ever stayed or visited. We splurged since it was our honeymoon and got a bungalow with the jacuzzi. We sat out there every night and just marveled at the stars. We've never seen so many--and I grew up in the Midwest. The pool bar mixes the greatest mai Thai. Both of the pools are divine. The infinity pool tended to be a little more popular, so my husband and I enjoyed the other pool more often. The Hula class was so much fun! I can't figure out how to review the restaurant independently, but I'll say it was too. The first night I had the steak frites. The peppers were so good- more spicy than the Typical batch of shishito peppers. The fries were perfectly predictable. Basic and unpretentious. So phenomenal. My husband had the chicken and he had no complaints. The second time we went back, I had the special, which was a New Zealand Lamb chop. It was one of the best things I had while at any resort in Hawaii. My husband had the burger and upgraded to hurricane dries. The fries were even better dressed up, especially if you like furikake. The burger was perfect I'm told. I did edit my lamb chop to have a salad instead of roasted cauliflower, which I was glad I did, but only because I love salad and hate cauliflower in all of its forms. This resort restaurant was the exact opposite of our experience in Wailea--it was worth the money and a great experience. And before I forget--save room for the cheesecake, and enjoy it with a nice Mai Thai. It's the best dessert i found on the entire island of Maui, and we drove the whole thing. Edited to add: pictures of the grounds required no editing to avoid people. This is a quiet, secluded, luxurious experience that connects you with nature while still giving you a full spa bathroom and A/C (at least in the bungalows lol). I've seriously never seen so many stars in my life, and I grew up in North Dakota. Seeing the stars made me better empathize with what it really meant for Polynesian explorers to memorize the sky to travel the ocean. This resort is beautiful and connects you to the land and the people. And as a Catholic, the best part was the Church is right across the street! A brilliant walk!
The bungalow on the water we stayed in was amazing.
We loved the pools and fitness center as well as the dining room and bar. Will be back!
We've been coming to this resort for over 7 years before
We've been coming to this resort for over 7 years before Hyatt took it over. It's gone really downhill! The employees are kind and considerate but they are not in sync at all. We left four messages for the Concierge to call us because every time we went to her desk she wasn't there. Hence we missed getting to two of the parks, even though we have a car to drive ourselves because we were not told that we needed to make reservations for our hikes., I had two phone calls to the spa to ask a question because the girl couldn't answer at the front desk. They never answered the question. Therefore, I never got a service there. The new chef has changed the menu to reduce it to very few selections and none can be made gluten or dairy free as he removed gluten-free soy sauce and got rid of the designated flyer other than one salad and one altered appetizer and one main dish none other can be eaten by somebody with a gluten allergy or celiac. Work in the restaurant as far as the waitresses are very disappointed in the new chef, and have made that known to us The dessert menu makes absolutely no sense you have to ask questions for everything. For example, one of the items says cookie dough, and when you ask what it is, it's actually a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and some syrup on the top. This is just an example of one description on a very lousy detailed menu for dessert. The grounds are not the way they used to be. You can smell the fermented fruit around and it's winter time so it shouldn't be all over the ground, smelling like rot and sour. We had a smart TV in our room that couldn't be hooked up to the Wi-Fi and it was spectrum and we couldn't purchase anything through spectrum to watch because there was no account that we could pay it on and there was no technical assistance that could help us, and they let us know that none of their TVs are connected to the Wi-Fi, which makes absolutely no sense As I said, we've been here for years and we will never return to this resort after this trips experience --- pretty sad!
Stunning views but horrible service.
Every touch point from check in, the restaurant and check out was very poor. The staff here is horrendous. They are not accommodating and frankly, they ALL seemed unorganized and unfamiliar with what they do. It doesn't feel like the staff takes any pride in what they do.
Whether you drive the Road to Hana or fly in to the resort,
Whether you drive the Road to Hana or fly in to the resort, make sure you get there! It's in my opinion one of the most peaceful places on earth. The infinity pool can suck you in for an entire day and Marlene the poolside bartender will check on you often to refill your mai tai and make sure you've eaten. There's a bar menu with snacks and lunch items such as grilled cheese but you can also order from the restaurant and they'll deliver it poolside. The spa is very nice as well. Carley is the manager there and she's done an excellent job with the service and retail offerings. There are several local products available from shorts and bathing suits to candles and lotions. I'd recommend Helene if you're going to get a massage. She's lived in the area for many years and has some good stories on history she'll share should you want to chat vs just relax during your treatment. There are some fun food trucks, (shout out to da mean bean coffee truck) a general store and a couple shops within walking distance. The property is rather large so if you don't feel like walking, call guest services and they'll send Louie or Lo down to pick you up on the golf cart. Make time to wander through the gift shop and the art gallery. Alicia Mae is very knowledgeable about the local art and artists and is interesting to chat with about the various pieces and island art history. We picked up a few gifts between the resort and shops in town. If you choose to fly in don't stress over transportation. Between the golf cart, the shuttle and the close proximity to various shops and food, you may find you don't need a vehicle. However the resort does rent jeeps should you desire. We've always stayed in the bungalows and enjoy our morning tea as we watch the sunset. It's a sad day when it's time to leave. We cannot wait to go back!
Beautiful property, friendly native service, quiet serene
Beautiful property, friendly native service, quiet serene resort. No tv, no air conditioning, but we left windows open with fans on and we were fine. Arrived at night so we didn't see the complete heavenly view of the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. We woke up early to catch the sunrise; there's chairs near the cliff to view the endless sights of breathtaking views of the sunlight hitting the ocean as it passed through the morning clouds. The property is over 70 years old but well maintained for high end guest or travelers like us that got stuck in Hana after surviving the "Road to Hana". There's a restaurant near the property that delivers but nothing much more in the very small town. Overall this property is for you to regain your sense of being and decompress from everything.

Working on your bid? |

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
|
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
|
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Idk if this is related to the unsold listing % rule but I have listed 6 reservations and sold 5 of them and my unsold listing percentage is ~45%. Give the best answerHonest review of AT and advice to new joiners
Forget trying to snipe reservations online by waking up early and booking top restaurants at Carbone or Tatiana or Cote or 4Charles. After 2.5 months of booking reservations by setting up alarms, waking up early to sell appointments. It’s very hard to cash out on this app. During cash out, you have to pay $5 fee +3% transactions fee and max payout per day is $150.
Advice to new users:
- do not mass book reservations
- fill bids only
- don’t try to book reservations online, you need connections and call the restaurant
After putting in about 40 hours of work, I’ve made about $750 sale on this platform but gotten paid $0. Take this with a grain of salt.
