It was a time!!
I once wrote a review where I said my sisters and parents and I were the dim sum addicts of the family!! I show my uncle all my reviews and he said that my sisters and parents and I are the family!! I happen to say things that make no sense sometimes!! What does make sense is that Asian food is the supreme source of nutrients into the body!! I went here for dinner with my aunt and uncle and parents and sisters!! I got a pineapple juice!! I then paid the check!! If you believed that I do not think you are paying full attention!! We got a feast including cumin lamb, dumplings, and salt and pepper shrimp which all brought joy into my life!! It was all very well and good as Asian food always is!!
Be the first to ReplyBest Dan Dan Outside of Sichuan
Warned that their other location was often jammed and didnโt take reservations, we took a shot at the Upper West Side location. So glad we did. The place was lovely and spacious, the hosts and wait staff were attentive and friendly, and both the Dan Dan Mien and Mayo Tofu were knock-it-out-of-the -park amazing. Would highly recommend for those longing for the taste of (or have never tried!) authentic Sichuan cuisine.

We used to love Han Dynasty- ate there and ordered take out at least once a month. Last week we ordered for delivery-- it was so bad it was almost inedible. The mapo tofu looked and tasted like they tossed some raw tofu in a plastic container, threw some kind of red sauce on it, and sent it out for delivery. So very disappointing.
The green beans were passable, as was the fried rice, but nothing great. We won't be going back any time soon.
A bit disappointing but some good tastes
The food is not as spicy as it should be and this is really a shame. The interior is one of the coolest spaces on the Upper West Side, a former ballroom space and still really elegant. The service was fine, the food was a bit of a let down. I am always bummed when the Szechuan dishes don't have the strong flavors they should have. At least the cold noodles with sesame sauce was good.
Be the first to ReplyBig inside seating area! Pork Dumplings are to die for!
Han Dynasty was my husbands and I's go to while we were dating. Whenever he flew into the city this is were he wanted to go. Food is great, wait staff has always been caring (one even helped us decided on an apartment!), and dinning room is very spacious. When we bring new people in they are always surprised how big it is! The one on 86th street does not offer out door dinning but I'm excited for when people can go back inside! P.S. Pork Dumplings are AMAZING!

Ordered pickup. Terrible food. Duck was dry, pea leaves were soaking in oil. They left out the soup from the order which they had to deliver. This place just isnโt what it used to be.

My husband and I decided to stop by this restaurant as recommended by friends. We decided to order one of their specialties, Dan Dan noodles and boy was it spicy! We also ordered the chicken fried dumplings, interestingly tasty. The waitstaff were courteous and helpful. The cost of our meal along with 2 beers was very reasonable.
I would highly recommend this restaurant especially if you enjoy spicy foods!
Good Not Great
Good not great, but tries a little too hard on the creative front...labeling the heat scale of a dish and willingness to calibrate it to a dinerโs preference, is no great innovation, but itโs part of its menu...enjoyed the crisp thin scallion pancakes, dumplings just ordinary; served the DanDan noodles we ordered as a starter because itโs listed in the menu that way; they were up there on spicy, which was nice, but the sauce rather blah. You choose the set of ingredients and sauce and then add your protein of choice. Eliminates much of the redundancy that makes Chinese menus so overwhelming and yet the same, but somehow seems less customized by the standardization. Had Dry Pot with lamb; lamb was chewy and sauce just OK; had Garlic Sauce with chicken, which was tasty. Service was fine. Good margarita (yes, an odd selection but wanted a cocktail and this turned out to be very good, not sweet and good tart flavor) and beer selection. Good dinner. Temperature wise would have liked a more steaming, fresh hot feel to the dishes which is why perhaps felt like protein added to sauce not the way to go. Would help to have the scent of the dishes in the air and the steam visible, but thatโs not here.

Attended here with my son. Staff very attentive and helpful and friendly. Food delicious and authentic. Huge portions and fabulous setting. Very well worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyAuthentic Si Chuan flavors
This gem was recommended to me so I had to try. I had the spicy cucumber and garlic which was a little sweet but flavorful. The Dry Hot Pot with fish was superb and authentic spicy flavors. After having spent a few years in China these flavors were authentic spicy and numbing. The portion was more than adequate! This may sound strange but I started with a Manhattan and the bartender was so professional and the Manhattan was the best I have ever had! Enjoy this gem on the first Monday of the month and the chefs will surprise you I am told. Enjoy!

One of the best Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is terrific and the service is friendly and quick. They do not try to rush you out as so many other places do.
Be the first to ReplyI could eat here every night
If I lived in NYC I would eat here a lot. We had the chicken fried dumplings, chicken lo mein and the kung pao chicken. All were fabulous. Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend!
