This 1 Michelin-starred restaurant was recommended by a friend/co-worker who had just came to London maybe 3-4 weeks prior to my visit. I had asked him for an Indian restaurant recommendation and he said this place. I had made reservations for 0930P on a Sunday evening about 3 weeks prior to visit. We had been roaming around London all day, essentially walked across from the Tower Bridge, and had arrived maybe 2 hours prior to reservation. Had tried asking the 2 female hostesses if there were any earlier available times and was told no. We had returned back to our hotel to rest before coming back to the restaurant for the original reservation time. Upon return, it was a male host at the counter. Said to give him a few minutes to have the table ready. We had went back outside to wait and no one had notified the table was ready until one of us had went in to ask. I had noticed a coat checking service available to others but we were never offered it but was fine with having our coats next to us (i guess). The same male host was the waiter and was never giving us the attention I'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. During the entire time of ordering or asking questions, his eyes/head were turned elsewhere and paying attention to others, but we had eventually ordered.KID GOAT METHI KEEMA, SALLI, PAO (+2 extra pao £1/ea) This dish is a minced goat meat with dinner roll looking Pao, for you to make these mini sliders with. The methi keema is nicely seasoned, topped with the minced shallots, and a little spritz of lemon makes it a nice starter to the meal. Each order comes with 2 Pao, waiter recommended to get 2 more so everyone has 1. PATIALA FRIED CHICKEN, IMLI & MINTThis was recommended by my friend. HEAVILY spiced boneless fried chicken. Not everyone in my party liked this dish. The fried chicken is topped with a TON of different seeds/spices. Delicious nonethelessLASOONI WILD TIGER PRAWNS, RED PEPPER CHUTNEY (+1 extra tiger prawn £8.60)Large grilled wild Tiger prawns with a nice red pepper chutney topped with chives. This dish comes with 3 Tiger prawns, also another recommendation by waiter to add an extra so everyone has 1. Delicious, simply grilled tiger prawns. Can eat with or without that chutney. The red pepper chutney is creamy but mild. TANDOORI CHICKEN, INDIAN ONION SALAD, WALNUT CHUTNEY Essentially half a chicken, marinated and cooked in a tandoor oven. Lots of meat. Very flavorful seasoning. The Indian onion salad is fresh, helping cut through the marinade. WILD MUNTJAC BIRYANI, POMEGRANATE & MINT RAITAThis was something we saw a lot of other tables had ordered so we had to order it too. Muntjac, per google, is barking deer or rib-faced deer. A mixed rice dish with various spices in a clay? pot, topped with a super flaky pastry (kind of like what you get in like a French onion soup). Flavorful but quite mild compared to the other dishes so farPORK CHEEK VINDALOOProbably the spiciest of the dishes we had ordered. A curry dish with braised pork cheek. Sadly pork cheek was braised, lost the fattiness and the meat's texture but this was great mixed with the previously mentioned biryani. BREAD BASKET (£12) - 2 different naan's, one thinner, crispier and one thicker/breadier. Good for mopping up some vindaloo or eat with leftover methi keema (which i definitely did, cant waste good food)Unfortunately I am NOT a fan of gin, which they had a diverse drink menu for, so we got 3 Cobra Lager (4.8%) beer's served in a thick, chilled metal cup. Would have preferred a bigger cup (hah) but oh well. The food overall was great. Each and every dish was delicious in its own way (or together). Service, unfortunately, definitely not anywhere near what I expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Very non-attentive.
