My brother wanted to have lunch together and he suggested
My brother wanted to have lunch together and he suggested we would grab some Korean food.He did not tell me where (which restaurant or the exact location) so I just followed :/ I did ask him if we are going for korean bbq. He said just lunch items. So Guiga Korean BBQ is located at the Tanjong Pagar area. To sum up, I never like the location. The place is just not vibing with me. Even the birds there looked different and strange. FOOD 4/5The banchan served was really good!! My Bangyetamg (Ginseng Chicken Soup) was really good! Was it life changing? No, but it was very good. I had the soup with the bowl of rice given. Ramyun was disappointing! The broth has a strong bell pepper flavor. Not sure why they would put bell peppers in ramyun, maybe it was something I did not know. It was one bad ramyun!SERVICE 3/5Adequate service was rendered. The staff was robotic (the bad kind), placed my brother's dish on the side of the table and another of his in front of me. Put my bangyetang in front of my brother. My brother has to move those bowls and plates around. I complained to my brother, he said it was fine. As usual, my brother was the kindest of us all.AMBIANCE 3/5When I walked in, I smelled some cigarette odor. I was told maybe it was from the bbq/hood/grill. I don't know, I did not know all the above could smell like cigarette :( It was not a big restaurant, somewhat dim. Maybe that was what a hole in the wall meant? I don't know, too dark (not the romantic kind) for me. Maybe it would be charming for other people.Glad my brother wanted to go Barisart for coffee/ tea after lunch. Again, I just followed him around, at least he was very mindful and sweet when we walked around those old shop houses with him cautioning me of those steps so I would not fall. Would I return to Guiga on my own discord? Doubt it!07.20.2022

The cheese Dakgalbi is amazing. Make sure the servers pay attention because if it is busy, they might overlook your meat. But all in all, I love this place. My go to for korean barbecue.

One of the better soondubu jigae and bibimbap on the Tanjong Pagar Korean strip I've had especially given the price. It's open late most nights making this place a go-to spot for late dinners after work in the city core. Excellent service and generous variety of banchan!

It's quite rare to find Korean BBQ places along Tanjong Pagar opened in the day time. But, I found one! Though not as rowdy as it is in the night time, Guiga serves decent lunch à la carte dishes like Bibimbap, Kimchi Stew, Pork Sausage Stew, Beef Ribs Stew etc.The place has the remnants of the night before's BBQ smell but we were fine with that. It is, after all a Korean BBQ place! Our order:- Yukgaejang (): A hearty, spicy beef soup that's highly popular in Korea. Made with shredded beef, lots of scallions and other vegetables such as gosari (fernbrake fiddleheads), beansprouts, and mushrooms, this is a substantial soup that has great depth of flavor. If you love this but can't take too much spiciness, you can ask them to tone down the spice factor. Absolutely love this!- BiBimBap (): The so-called ultimate comfort Korean food. My friend's order was surprisingly just nice for her; not too much rich. The sauce was simply delicious though it might be slightly hot for some so be careful with the portion. The cold noodles () on the menu looks delicious and I will definitely be back to try it soon!P.s. the waitresses have a korean look but speaks very fluent chinese.

I've got to admit I'm a bit picky when it comes to korean bbq. Some may say X is the best place and lots of koreans go there but I dont believe it until I see it. I consider LA to be one of the best places for korean food in the world. I havent found that many in Singapore that I really love. I'm not trying to sound snobby. I'm not korean but I think I have a taste for good korean food. I found Guiga to be better than average. I like the way they prepared their marinated galbi. But the meat was a little fatty and wasnt a lot of it. We got the beef platter which was supposed to be for 2-3 people but I found it barely fed 2. They didnt serve bulgogi and I'm always amazed by korean places that dont have it on the menu. The banchan (sides) were ok. Not really all that impressive but better than the places that just serve kimchi. Now I didnt order any other the other dishes since there was just 2 people. The menu actually looked pretty good. I may go back again and try some of the other items on the menu. Overall I'd say it was good for a KBBQ fix but didnt really wow me.
