Upscale food
Went with the Tasting with the wine pairing and added an order of truffle fries. The scallop risotto was a bit salty. The arugula salad, beef Wellington, and sticky toffee pudding were all delicious. The portion sizes were larger than expected but not large enough to make us feel as uncomfortable as we walked out feeling.

First time ever in a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. Took the wife for her birthday. I had the scallops and we both had steak, Loaded baked potato and the sticky toffee pudding. OMG, that was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time from a restaurant. Steak was so well cooked, a butter knife would slice it. Everything tasted wonderful. Was surprised how good the desert was. Service was very attentive to everything. Answered all our questions and kept us full of everything we wanted. Will be back again.

We went to Ramsays in Harrahs N.Kanas City,, I ordered a steak - medium, it was almost completely well done ! The waitress said oh I see some pink init ! Well I didn’t and it didn’t have any juice ,very poor for a $75 piece of meat, the manager took our two glasses of wine off the bill , that didn’t help , My friend took the steak home for a stir fry - very disappointing. The next evening we went again , sat at the bar, had lobster bisque- that was good, a shrimp cocktail, that was ok, I ordered a wedge salad , the worst salad I ever had, a large head of lettuces cut in half , I couldn’t find any dressing , the waiter said oh it’s on the bottom with a vein of blue cheese - it was awful, server took it off the bill, I didn’t eat it. I have been to Hells Kitchen in California that was excellent,so most likely it was just this one restaurant, So disappointed

My wife and I ate here while staying at Harrah's Casino. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was delicious. My beef wellington was slightly chewy but very tasty. The free bread was delicious. The salad was good but small. The sticky toffee pudding was nothing but amazing. This is a place you must experience at least once.My wife and I have eaten at a few Gordon Ramsay restaurants and the experience is always great. We recommend highly.
Be the first to ReplyThey tried to make up for us sitting for 30 minutes without being waited on
We made reservations for 7:30. We were seated immediately. Sat for 30 minutes until we called for someone to be noticed. They were not busy. After asking to be waited on, we were apologized to and told we could have appetizers on the house. About 15 minutes later a waiter came. Manager came to check said we could now also have dessert. Close to 90 minutes of being there we were finally served the appetizers. By then my husband had already left. Then I was told they would also give me his steak at no cost. It was just a disaster. Told from the beginning couldn't have dry aged beef. They were out of the dessert we wanted. Didn't let us eat our dessert at the restaurant, they boxed it up along with all the other food that took a hour and a half to get. Never did I expect this from a place that you can easily spend $200 a person. I was excited to go there, but the food was just ordinary quality you could have gotten for $50 a person.
Be the first to ReplyAverage, With A Few High Points
I so wanted to love this restaurant. I didn’t. There were some highs: the Beetles cocktail and the Bloody Mary shrimps. But…. The onion soup was too thick and salty; the short ribs were over sauced; the lamb was under seasoned; and the brown butter ice cream had little flavour. The service was slow but the servers were friendly. Average with a few high points.
Be the first to ReplyElegant Dining in Harrah's
Just be aware the kitchen closes at 9 pm. Houses in the Harrah's Casino. We had 6 in our party and thoroughly enjoyed the private dining room. Beautiful with outstanding service. The wine list is excellent and extensive. The salmon is a generous portion. The steaks, of course, are wonderful. A go to when in KC.

Great food. Took a little while for the appetizer to come out but the rest f the meal was excellent.
Be the first to ReplyBetter places to go...
Not a classic Kansas City steak house. Try Anton's for top notch food. I will say our servers we excellent at Gordon Ramsay but the bread seemed store bought, Caesar was mediocre, oysters seem small, steak was perfect and desserts were very good. Just better places to spend that kind of money for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyQuality That You Would Expect
We have stopped here to eat twice. Both times have been spectacular. A reservation is a must especially if you are eating with teenagers or kids as they will not be allowed to sit or dine in the bar area. Can make reservations on OpenTable app. Everything we have tried here has been excellent. The truffle fries are large enough to share among the table. I would recommend trying the dry aged steaks.

Amazing!! Everything was incredible!! The staff were excellent and attentive. Ordered signature drinks, the tasting special which included Beef Wellington, and a Filet that was cooked to perfection. The desserts were phenomenal! Eating at a GR restaurant was a bucket list item, and it exceeded my expectations.

Service was impeccable. Virgin Mary was delicious. Beef Wellington, which I have so long looked forward to trying was sad. Meat was perfect, duxelles was flavorless, puff pastry not puffed and also flavorless. I would never order it again anywhere. Dab of Demi glacé, certainly not enough to be considered a sauce. Very, very disappointing. Sticky toffee pudding really good. Just wish the other dishes were as good as the service.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Restaurant in the Worst Location
We live in the KC area and have put off visiting this restaurant due to its location inside Harrah’s Casino, which is terribly run down, no valet parking, and hosts real-life characters that would fit in with the Star Wars Cantina bar scene. However, we decided to visit for our anniversary and we’re completely shocked by the quality of food and service! Seriously, the best meal ever in Kansas City, and we eat out a lot at places like Capitol Grille, Eddie V’s, Stock Hill, etc. All was prepared to perfection and presented well. We shared the Lobster Truffled Risotto appetizer (don’t miss!), and the side of Truffled Fingerling Potatoes (even better than my favorite ones in Paris). Along with the side dish, I had the Bone-in Ribeye and my husband had the Filet, both exceptional (even though not Midwest beef). The grand finale was the Sticky Browned Butter Cake (? - I’m unsure of the name, but this is close) which I can’t even begin to describe, but we ended up ordering 2!!!! Like I said, this restaurant truly deserves a far better location, but the food is the best we’ve ever had in Kansas City! You’ll thank me!
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu is the way to go
For most people, this is a special night out destination. So, make it remarkable with the tasting menu! The beef wellington is exceptional and it is a large portion (probably the same portion as from the regular menu. Also, you get Ramsay's signature dessert: the sticky toffee pudding. As for the price, if you are just in town, it's a steakhouse, and prices for steakhouse throughout America are increasing. It's also in Kansas City, a place that is known for steak. Combine these together, and you are going to pay. It's ac delicious experience. One to enjoy. But, understand, what you are going into. As I always say: do your homework before you go, so you will not be grumpy, and instead, appreciate and enjoy the meal.

250 for two and all my hard earned money gone i feel its a scam not worth the price at all unless you make 500k a year don't risk it. The food is not that big of deal honesty you can eat better for a lot cheaper in most restaurants . Might as well gone too Texas Roadhouse or Mason Jar. I want small Ramsey's for coning us of hour money.
Be the first to ReplyRomantic and Delicious
By far the best steakhouse in KC. Bring your Love. Order the aged beef. Buy a bottle. Sit for several hours and enjoy the spectacular service that these folks deliver with an ease that defies the laws of the service universe. You will not be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe worst of a bad experience.
We have had an opportunity to eat here several times over the last two months. One word summary? Inconsistent. While I am accustomed to paying exorbitant prices for good food I am not accustomed to paying high prices for bad food and bad service. They cooked the life out of their specialty, the beef Wellington. No apology for doing it. Seafood was overcooked and rubbery. Sauces were either bland or horribly hot.
Tonight they turned us away for our reservation because they are very busy. The host who came to help us was more rude then the restaurant manager who suggested we come back around ten for our 7:15 reservation. Wow Gordon. I'm sure you'll never read this review. This restaurant is impuning your name and reputation. Being busy is the true test of a good restaurant. You don't turn away customers with a reservation when you're busy, you step up. Tonight was embarrassing for me,my party, and the restaurant.
For anyone else who might read this review I recommend you find a different steak house in KC. There are a few I'm sure. This one is just as likely to serve slop as it is to serve you at all. Is it worth 250 bucks per person to take the chance?
Great birthday celebration
We visited for my son's 16th birthday. He is a big fan of GR.The staff was amazing and the my son said the steak was the best thing he has ever had to eat. My wife, mother and I each had a salad and some wine. the mountain of truffle fries was more than the four of us could eat. For the adults, the sticky toffee pudding made our visit. So yummy! We will definitely visit again.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Went here last night. My friend and I shared the Wellington and scallops along with a wedge salad. The scallops were amazing. The wedge was just alright. As for the Wellington it didn’t have any mushrooms in it and the steak tasted like it was left over from the day before and reheated. It was not good.
I had it at Hell’s Kitchen in Vegas last month so I know what it’s supposed to look and taste like and this was nothing like that one. So disappointed!!
Good food
This restaurant is connected to the casino. It is nicer than the casino. The waiter was nice. The steak was very good. They had a nice wine list. And the dessert was also good. No complaints at all.
Be the first to ReplyNot a special bd celebration
We were disappointed with the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. We were expecting a very special treat from some of the reviews and it was just above average for the expense.. The food was good. The atmosphere was. simple and not elegant or even a traditional steakhouse look. The service was fine and the waiter was attentive but we received no extras like in some of the reviews. They did not bring steaks out to us to select and did not give us the risotto that some have said they received. They did comp us for my husbands dessert since it was his bd.. It is a nice place to visit but not for the cost. We really wanted a special place and were let down.
Be the first to ReplyWhat A Let Down
We're fans of Gordon Ramsay and we know what a perfectionist he is, so maybe our hopes were too high. We went all out on this visit! Our waiter was really nice and knowledgable, but seemed beat down, worn out, and a little sad. The Caesar Salad was nice, the British Ale Onion Soup was thick and hearty and we loved it. The KC Strip was ordered Well Done and came back about Medium Rare. My Filet was ordered Medium and came back Rare. So rare, I could barely cut through it. When our waiter came back, he glanced at my plate and knew right away that it needed to go back to the kitchen. So he had me move my steak to another plate and took it back to the kitchen. My husband's says his KC Strip was incredible! He was about 2/3 of the way through it by the time my steak came back 20 minutes later. Our Pureed Potatoes were almost gone as well as our Asparagus.
When the manager brought back my steak, he took my other plate that had the remainder of the potatoes. I was so hungry and happy to finally see my main course that I didn't say anything. He just set the plate with my steak down and said, "Cut into it." So I did and told him it was fine. In reality, it was only about Medium Rare by then, but good enough. I just ate around the edges where it was cooked through. No apology. No personality. Nothing.
After reading some reviews here, it seems like this is a common complaint. There's no sense in serving thick 8 oz filets if the kitchen can't cook them through. 5 oz is enough for me, personally.
By this time, we were ready to get out of there, but were set on ordering dessert. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was INCREDIBLE. I mean, it's probably now my favorite dessert on the planet and I am not kidding. We shared one and the amount of cake served was perfect, although we could have used 2 sticks of ice cream. WOW.
I wish I could say that it erased the bad parts of our evening. Our other observation is that they really need to get rid of the casino carpeting in there. It cheapened the place and kind of ruined the effect.
Maybe Chef Ramsay needs to visit this location more often. It's not up to his standards and it's not up to ours.
3/5 stars based on our $200 dinner bill (no drinks), the twice undercooked filet, and the overall vibe there which seems to stem from management.
It would be nice to have a non-alcoholic beer available, as well. We stopped drinking alcohol 3 years ago and don't drink soda.
Disappointed
Was a bit disappointed as compared to times past. My husband ordered the Ceasar Salad and they were out of quail eggs. I ordered the King Crab Legs but they were out of them. My brother and I ordered medium rare steaks and lobster tails. His steak was fine but mine was over cooked and the lobster tail shriveled. For a bill of over $500, I expect perfection. I think Gordon would have cussed up a storm if he had been there.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent meal, fine food and attentive service
Anniversary dinner and, in contrast to many other reviewers here, our service was attentive, prompt, friendly and perfectly pitched. It did appear that they were quite keen to get us through the meal fairly fast but it didn't feel rushed and was probably a nod to covid and a desire not to have us linger too long.
The restaurant is actually in Harrah's casino and hotel and this caused me some concern prior to arrival since I hate casinos. However, the restaurants for this establishment are all together which means one can avoid walking through my personal hell of slot machines etc. which is nice. The restaurant itself is close to the entrance to the property so it pays to park as close to that as you can. We parked around by the hotel reception, in error, which necessitates a stroll through the hotel corridors which is fine, just know that in advance.
Upon entering the restaurant itself, there is a check in desk and we were swiftly seated but unfortunately it was in the bar area which, although perfectly nice and well spaced means that one has to put up with TVs in the area (another pet hate of mine). I didn't get to see the main dining area on this visit.
Menus and wine lists are presented on simple, though thick, sheets of paper brought promptly to the table. On the wine list front, it is nice to see very affordable bottles on the list as well as a decent selection of wines by the glass. If you wish to splurge on a 4 figure bottle, they have those too. We opted for the tasting menu which is four courses, and one of us paired that with the wine flight which was very well matched to the dishes on offer.
The tasting menu was first class. Perfectly sized portions (naturally smaller than their a la carte brethren) and delicious. Especially good was the scallop risotto but all were excellent and the presentation, of course, spot on. Service was attentive but if I were to criticize, I would say it was a little too prompt - I prefer not to have my plate removed before my dining partner has finished their dish. It seems a little gauche to me and it happened consistently. Not a big deal.
Expensive? Of course, but I thought the value was strong for the style of meal, the quality and the service. The tasting menu is $110 at the time of writing. Wine will increase that significantly of course, but it was ever thus and with the excellent choice of affordable wine, this is manageable.
Being an elitist snob I wish people would dress more formally than ripped shorts and a tee shirt to dine in places like this, but I understand where I am and the fact that this is based in a casino where such attire may almost be considered de rigeur.
Excellent place to eat, worthy of the famous name in my opinion and I will definitely return and recommend it.
Horrible visit- 2nd tjme
After visiting Gordon Ramsay’s the first time, we were not impressed. This happened to be a year ago. We wanted to give this place a second chance and had family in town so we decided to give this another girl around. We had reservations and we were seated promptly. Our server and their assistant greeted us in a timely fashion. It took awhile for us to receive our cocktails and when they arrived, only two out of the three were delivered. Our waiter came back around to deliver our bread and didn’t even acknowledge that the other person didn’t receive their wine/cocktail. They had ordered wine by the glass, which clearly was right behind us and all they had to do was pour the wine. We received our appetizer, which was incredible, but we had yet to see that missing glass of wine. I then asked about his glass of wine and our waiter didn’t say a word and decided to pour a very heavy amount. He had order a 6 oz. and it was definitely over a 9 oz. pour. As we enjoyed our appetizer, we all had order a salad and soup. Not exaggerating, this took 30 min to be delivered to the table. As they were delicious, we were anxious waiting for our meals for 1.45 hour. We had not seen our server or their assistant in at least 30 min since our soup/salad was delivered. Finally, we saw a manger approach a near by table and flagged him over. We explained our frustrations and that we had been waiting for our entrees for entirely way too long. He was apologetic and went into the kitchen. Shortly after our meals arrived. Cold truffle fries, cold asparagus, two 8oz. Filets (RARE) which we preference medium. The beef Wellington was great for our guest. We then waved over another manager and told him our concerns. All he said was he was sorry and he will have them cook two more filets for us. After waiting almost 2 hours for our entrees, we became frustrated and ended up not wanting anything more. The manager insisted that the chef would have us two filets cooked to our preference be out in 8 min, per the chef. Two filets were delivered by the manager. We both cut into them and yet again they were RAW. we explained to the manager that this was our second time trying this place and again, it fails. We ended up leaving hungry and frustrated. The manager has no remorse and had no words or explanation for anything that even happened during our visit. I promise you that we will not be back, nor recommended Gordon Ramsay steak house at Harrah’s Casino Kansas City to anyone ever. Horrible service. Horrible food. Horrible management.
